hmm...what about that scene where Vanessa says to Ethan about her accepting him

Excited to see Ethan Talbot? in New Mexico. I have a suspicion that his father knows what he is. Very curiuos to see who they cast. Also I suspect he's a skinwalker and not werewolf or wolfman.

Also didn't anyone find it cruel for Caliban to let the Putney daughter live? Or was it a mercy?

As to another literary character we may see, The Invisible Man perhaps?

I guess I'm alone in despising Lilly. God she rubs me the wrong way.

Fantastic finale tho.

Ethan was a fool. Vanessa was a BAMF. Caliban was Caliban. Lyle was funny yet deadly when he needed to be. Victor was a whipped little *****. Sir Malcolm had had enough of camouflaged witches.:hehe:

I hope they aren't all separated for long next season. This show is better when all the players are together. When it has to deal with disconnected elements (Dorian in season one and most of two) it suffers.
I liked Lily to start the season, but the last couple of episodes have made her far less fascinating imo.

I was under the bleief that what they fought last season was Dracula?
Pretty sure it wasn't, as the creator of the show has mentioned that Dracula was suppose to be in the episode originally, but wasn't.

anyone think it was freaky when that scorpion creature sank into vanessa's palm....that creeped me out :hrt:

It is her spirit animal. I thought it was actually kind of cool. :woot:

It creeped me out the way it was sinking into her hand...*shudders* but I do understand its her spirit animal...and in the end, I thought "Damn, that was kinda neat how they did that in a creepy kind of way."

This scene! :waa:

And people wonder why Eva Green is the lead of this show? All her individual scenes with the others are incredible. In the last two episodes, she broke my heart with Ethan, Victor, and Caliban.

Also, with Caliban. This was the first time since the first season where I felt like he was truly redeemable. He went from self-loathing to a protector. Though he went too far, his actions weren't selfish. He seemed willing to dance until they started talking about hurting others.

This is why Eva is my fave top actress. She exceeds all my expectations...So I see what you mean DarthSkywalker. I remember back during season 1, a lot of ppl complained it had too much of her. Well, what do you expect? The show is supposed to revolve around her. I am pretty sure John Logan said that and one of the reasons he wanted Eva was her to be part of his creation. And it shows how much of an actress she really is when she is committed. I love that about Eva. She needs more loving. :hrt: :hrt: :hrt:

I think today is her birthday :)

Great finale! I laughed when the Satan Doll whimpered as she was about to kiss it. Lawd.

Lyle is the Queen!

About damn time we see Dracula.

Gotta admit, Eva looks damn hot in that checkered shirt...mmmm. lol. Hard to believe she's 35...but she's still young. Im only 30 but I'll be 31 in November...and hence me being a scorpio...so interesting that I saw scorpios in the finale of Penny Dreadful...no matter how badly they make me shudder. lol.

Literary possibilities

Dracula
Invisible man
Dr Jekyll - Mr Hyde
Sherlock Holmes
Phantom opera???? Prefer not
Mummy , doubt it would work. Course Vanessa represents Ammenut
Jack the Ripper or did Ethan represent that

Other literary characters?????

Dracula is already in the show I think? he is the other 'brother' fallen angel, banished to Earth rather than hell (both are after Vanessa)

With the Invisible Man or Jekyll & Hyde I suspect they might want to stay away from them due to comparisons to The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. They have a Quartermain type in Sir Malcolm already, and a Hyde type too with Ethan. Ethan is not meant to be Jack the Ripper btw, though if they did want to go with Hyde he could fit that role.

Dorian wasn't in the Moore books (only his portrait was shown I think) but he was in the LXG film.

Sherlock might be tempting, but I don't know how well he'd fit in with all this gothic horror show stuff.

Phantom...Never liked that one so agreed on preferring him out.

Mummy...I think they have more or less tied that mythology in with the shows vampires? (when Victor dissected one way back it had Egyptian writing under its skin).

Others from the Victorian era? Can't think of any other standouts tbh. Verne's Nemo or Wells' time traveller are the only ones that spring to mind but I'd rule both out.

She had it coming TBH. I think Caliban was about to show her mercy but she started taunting him again and so he left her alone with her dead parents as punishment (instead of just killing her).

That's how I saw it too. The times back then were not very kind for the disadvantaged.

IDK why but I have a feeling it's Jekyll. Or the Mummy. Just a gut feeling.

It's not exactly accurate but I saw this over at Tumblr and it made me laugh. :funny:

lol you just had to post those gifs - *Shudders* and lol, i saw that on tumblr, btw...

"Never underestimate a queer with lovely hair?" Is that what he said? :p

"Never underestimate the power of a queen with lovely hair, my dear."

It killed me. :lmao:

Best sentence before shooting someone ever. :woot:

The [blackout]Caliban/Vanessa[/blackout] scene was so sad and beautiful.

This kinda felt like a series finale...

The last scenes were :waa: Everything is so [blackout]bleak and sad[/blackout].

RIP [blackout]Ethan's hair[/blackout]

Indeed it was. Depressing as **** it was, by the way. And it seems that we won't see Caliban again. And once again he proved to be a better man. I was actually rooting for him to kill the girl, especially after what she said to him, but he still didn't.

It does make sense. I like how the main threat was dealt with early on, allowing for us to see what the outcome meant for each remaining member of the team. It wasn't rushed, it felt satisfying to me.

As for Eva, somehow I think she managed to top herself w/ this episode. lol

Yeah, same here. I was afraid it will end on cliffhanger. Well, it still kinda did actually. More than one. :woot:

Anyway, it seems that Dorian and Lily (by the way, she is not really doing a great job of not being dependent on any man, I must say) might be next season's antagonists, given that last season introduced Madame Kali, but who knows... I am of mind that the literal character that is going to appear Dracula. Satan obviously couldn't get Amunet's affection so they'll probably introduce his brother. Though until recently I was sure that what they killed in Grand Guignol in season 1 was Dracula. Then again, Dracula's reign over Mina didn't stop after the creature was killed, so it most probably wasn't him after all.

But damn it, who is going to wait so long for season 3? :csad:

:funny:

Caliban didn't let her live to be merciful. He did it to torture her.

This was my thinking as well. I can't imagine there were many good options for a blind person in those days. She might end up a beggar. :(
