Comics People Who Love the Current Spider-Man Stories

Cap, ever since I first started lurking here, I've looked to your posts as being similar to how I felt about things. Maybe it's because we're the same age (based on that thread of ASM covers that came out the month we were born). I agree with EVERYTHING you wrote in that post (although I didn't really follow DD). So, yes, I have to agree with you there about Joe Q. I HATED what he did to Spider-Man, but he has certainly gotten me back into the Marvel Universe!

And for the record, I don't totally mind Harry's return (considering Norman's, it makes sense) and I don't mind Norman forgetting Spidey's id (it has happened several times, so even if I hate the Mephisto method, I can chalk it up to his usual "amnesia").

But, although they touched on the "psychic blind spot" and how it works, we still don't know who did this with Pete, or who Pete thinks he did this with.

You know, in all fairness; while i feel the current direction is hit or miss, i've kind of felt that way about Spider-Man comics as a whole since David Michelinie left. I think his was the last run that remained consistently entertaining to me...despite the fact that he was editorially mandated to make Peter allow Venom to run free (so Venom could get his own books going), as if the Peter Parker created by Lee & Ditko would EVER let a maniac like Brock run free. :whatever:...but i'm getting off track here.

Yes, current run; "Hit or miss", but with a decent lean towards "hit", in my opinion.

Honestly, i'd like to see the book revert back to monthly with just one creative team on it <coughcough SLOTT/ROMITA Jr., cough> :hehe:

That, and a Spidey Team-Up book with rotating teams would be my ideal scenario...

Again, Cap, mirror my thinking! I don't really remember writers as much as artist. The Michelinie run, that was the McFarlane/Larsen/Bagley "era" right? Just before the Clone Saga era? Definitely agree that was the last run I enjoyed consistently.

While I enjoy three times a month (I did enjoy the Clone Saga until they tried to make Pete the clone) I prefer a steady team. And I would definitely love to see Romita Jr. return to the title!

As much as i LOVE JRJR, i think they should just let Slott and Marcos Martin do a monthly Spidey book. That would be AWESOME. Martin was born to draw spiderman and Slott seems to have a very solid voice for the character, plus he seems to be the head of the BND team so i say let them do a monthly.

Yeah, too bad Martin won't commit to a Spidey monthly.

I think my favorite writer in the bunch is Van Lente, his scripts are fluid and he writes that Spidey feel which is hard for me to describe.

I'm real thankful for this thread. I guess I'm tired of the disgruntled fans constantly speaking on behalf of the supposed real Spidey fans. It's weird actually, but maybe it's because I've read a lot of the arguments and engaged them only to go round and round, not getting anywhere. It's part of the reason why I'm helping start a new Spidey board:

We have a small group there reviewing and having fun, please check it out sometime if you're looking for something new!

I hope I'm not offending this group by that plug. I'm still kinda new and I appreciate when guys like JJJ's Ulcer, Themanofbat, and Donald Thomas respond to my posts and I definitely plan on staying here. :yay:
