Iron Man Pepper Potts Has Been Cast!

I was hoping for McAdams :(

Anyway, I wouldn't mind to see Paltrow playing this role. She was great in Se7en and Shakespeare in Love, so I have nothing against Fav's choice.

P.S. Dawney Jr., Howard and now Paltrow? Who is next? Ken Watanabe as Mandarin?

LOL, that would be cool.

From Jon Favreau over at his Myspace group
Gwyneth Paltrow has been cast as Virginia Pepper Potts. I met her on an idie called Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle many years ago. We begin filming in eight weeks.

Stan Winston is working on the suit. Sets are being built. Fergus and Ostby(Children of Men) are working on the script. Matty Libatique is shooting it. Everything is really coming together.

Even more to look forward to. Shooting starting in 2 months, Stan Winston AKA the God of SFX who's behind Constantine, Terminator 2, Jurassic Park 3, Pearl Harbor, A.I. and Predator, and the cinematographer from the Fountain, Inside Man, and Requiem for a Dream (haven't seen either of the three but they're pretty good from what I've heard.)

i wanted mcadams :( oh well i like paltrow

I wanted McAdams for Lois Lane, but oh well. Watanabe would be great for Mandarin but I doubt they will go that route since he was in BB.

i wont argue that Warren Beatty and Madonna where big with that pathetic movie cam out.
and again.. Gene Hackman, Marlon Brando, and Ned Beatty all big in those days, even thou they only joind the movie due to Brando.
Michael Keaton was NOT! a Alister in 89 he was just a comedian.. i still remember all the talk abut how wrong he was for the part before the movie..
Michelle Pfeiffer was a hevy hitter when she did returns, , Danny DeVito was a well known actor at the time but we was no Alister when he did returns. Christopher Walken had a low period whgen he did returns that lifted him a bit.
i wont say anything about Jack Nicholson, Jack Palance, in 89 but! Kim Basinger was FAR from an Alister. the film she did just befor Batman was "My Stepmother Is an Alien" COME ON! Billy Dee Williams has never been an Alister even with 2 Starwars movies under his belt.. he has a cult following only
Ahh yes.. how many Alister do you fiont in this list back in 95?
Val Kilmer, Jim Carey, Tommy Lee Jones, Drew Barrymore, Nicole Kidman, Chris O'Donnell
ill tell you .. ONE! Nicole Kidman.. the others where washouts and funnymen
Val Kilmer was on the rise for along time before "forever" but he was no Alister.
ahh yes.. George Clooney A TV actor at the time. Alicia Silverstone a allready wasedout acctress. Arnold Schwarzenegger the only jobb he had between Jingle All the Way and his return in 99 with End of Days.. Uma Thurman was not (yet) an Alister and was in a slump for some time before that garbage

all of the names i listed were big names at the time. it doesn't matter why Hackman and Beatty joined, it matters that they were big talent. Hackman with the French Connection, etc., Beatty with Deliverance.

Keaton was a big name even if he was mostly known for comedies (and he wasn't a comedian).

DeVito has always been a big name since he was on Taxi.

Basinger was a big name who really made her name with 9 1/2 weeks. She was definitely the "It" girl of the day.

Billy Dee Williams was known before Star Wars, mostly from his television roles, then a couple of big films.

Val Kilmer, Jim Carey, Tommy Lee Jones....everyone i listed was a big name and a big get.

maybe you just aren't old enough to know. the fact is "i think that all due to Batman Begins.." is patently and provably incorrect.

congats ms.p. this fil's gomma kick butt now

Hate to burst your bubble, but actress Sean Young had the part, but the week before shooting started she had an accident and wasn't going to be available until she healed. Then a last minute search and Kim Basinger was found to be available at that time. Luck was on her side.

doesn't burst my bubble at all. it doesn't refute a thing i've said.

She wasn't picked for the part. A last ditch effort found her to be available. Another words, she was lucky to get the part.

But anyways, that's old news. Let's get back on track.

Gwyneth Paltrow is going to be great.

What BB did do was to reestablish and put more of an emphasis on the combination of an actor's acting ability and being well regarded in the business. While a lot of other superhero movies, namely the previous Batman films, went for more star power and went for whoever was the "it" person at that moment.

I have to agree with alot of people, Paltrow wouldn't have been my first choice, but she's a great actress and has the chops to be in the same film as Downey and Howard and not get eclipsed by their talents. This film is really shaping up to be awesome. I can't wait!

That role was a bit part, I don't think it really matters. Look a James Mardsen, he was Cyclops for Christ's sake, and he still did Superman Returns. Actors are actors, no matter what their previous roles were.

Hate Paltrow. But, ah well. Still a great cast.

However I don't see what the big deal is. There have been plenty of comic book films with bigger and better star power.

marvel's being very smart about this movie.

instead of having a bunch of unknowns and ultimately having the movie flop, they're getting known actors, actors who can actually act.
Which doesn´t mean that the movie will not suck like there´s no tomorrow

Alright, i´m coming to the idea that i´m one of the few realistic guys in this all forum....
The casting so far is great, i love Paltrow, but, then what?
The script might be awful, the directing could be pathetic, the movie can very well be the next Batman & Robin, which had Clooney (one the finnest actors today), Thurman and The Gobernor, and the movie was ridiculous to the say the least.
I´m not saying that it will, but to call that Iron Man is going to be the greatest comic book since BB, just because of the casting....c´mon....

All in all, let´s hope it´s a great movie, because it as the cast for it.

.

Always being negative and worrying is not being realistic ;)

No one said it was gonna be the best comic book movie since BB they said it was shaping up to have the best and most well known cast in a comic book movie since BB

it doesn't matter if they have Sir Lawrence Olivier...good actors can not overcome bad writing.

Fair enough...

Worrying and apprehensive, yes.
Negative....a little :(

Heh:woot:well there have been more miss steps than direct hits with these types of movie over the years so i get the cautionary stance but so far at least i'll give credit where it's due for an interesting casting route

This officially kills any interest I had in the film. She is an extremely overrated bland actress who I greatly dislike.
