Percy Jackson sequel in development

I usually look at the audience's reaction compared to the critics. When the two line up you have a good idea of a movie worth seeing. Depending on the movie though sometimes it's better to see what the critics think.

Thanks. That's pretty much what I figured for that site. As long as I can convince a roommate to go tonight, I'll let you guys know if its worth spending money on. And for what it's worth, the first one definitely wasn't imo.

I loved both of them and the books. This one was a lot closer to the book. Also the way it ends, just seriously hoping there's enough at the box office to continue the series forward.

Thanks for the heads up. Did they end up doing Circe's island resort? It's been ages since I read the books, but I remember being so happy about how she was modernized.

Actually, that's got to be my favorite thing about the books. They modernize the myths better than any of the countless other stories that tried.

So other than Hermes, what happened to all the gods from the first movie?

Got to see it last night. Much better than the first; they really found a way to lose the Harry Potter vibe. I really liked everything up until the end fight. Having the last action scene of the movie be also the worst action scene of the movie is never a good thing. My theater was pretty full for a thursday night too.

Fillion was great too! He laments about how the all the best tv shows get cancelled before their prime.

Yeah, I heard there was a subtle Firefly reference, and I caught it as soon as he said it. The audience applauded.

Is the CGI as bad as it is in the trailers? The first movie looks like it had better CGI.

I never read the books so I can't gauge how accurate the feel is of this or the first to them but I liked the first movie much more. The production value was higher, the effects were better and the performances weren't so hammy. Fillion was the only thing I liked about this one and it's not because he did a great job with the part but simply the fan service. This felt like a direct to video sequel.

DTV sequels don't have the luxury of bringing back the same actors, most of the time.

True. I was thinking about seeing it just for Fillion and Anthony Stewart Head, but I don't know now...

Thought it sucked. Couldn't stand the first movie and only agreed to see it Wednesday because my girlfriend is a fan of the books. Showed a lot of promise for the first 20 minutes or so, then slowly but steadily came crumbling down until the amusement park where I turned to my equally pissed girlfriend and said "respectfully, I'm done with these movies."

I enjoyed this. First one was awful but they stepped up their game with this one. It's not great but its not the worst thing I've seen this summer.

This film was handicapped by the fact the first movie strayed so far from the book. So alto of the discrepancies were do to explaining characters that were dropped from the first film like Clarisse, Mr. D, or not explaining Grover's quest.

What bothers me the most is the studio treating this as a throwaway film. This movie was barely promoted and to wait three and a half yeas to put forth a low budget effort, is disappointing.

This film for the most part tried to be faithful, unlike the first film, but I also felt it lacked some gravitas performances they got from Brosnan, Thurman, Bean, and especially Steve Coogan.

I enjoyed Fillion, but there just wasn't enough else. While the main cast does a good job, Jake Abel was just horrible, he did a good enough job in the first film, but he never seems like a threat.

I hope they can finish the series, but this film clearly is not going to do as well as the first.

Overall, I liked this movie, even with its faults, but the film is going to do little to attract new fans.

I dunno, Bean and Brosnan didn't really seem to have much gravitas in the first one. Like that scene where Brosnan grouses, "I'll tear you to pieces."

And then the awkward dialogue of Percy later saying, "Did you just say you'd tear her to pieces? What?"

I've seen it, and it was good. But I missed Brosnan. And newcomer Hermes did hardly feel like a god. Neither did Dionysus.

If they go and make a third film, then recast the lead please.
Do you have ny suggestions for replacement? Please don't say an unknown!
