So we still don't know if he's landed the part or not, but however the audition went, Murphy does not think we can "handle the truth" yet.

as much as i'd love to see Cullen cast, i won't be disappointed if he's not. Cullen is a great voice actor but voice acting for a cartoon and voice acting for a movie are 2 totally different things. there's a lot of leeway with cartoons...you can be overly dramatic. movies are a whole different beast...

Cullen doing Prime would enhance the overall feel and anticipation of this movie ten-fold, to me anyway.

If Cullen didn't get the part, then I wouldn't mind if Gary Chalk audition for the role.

I liked Cullen BECAUSE of his soothing voice. Prime shouldn't have a macho voice. WHat Cullen brought to the plate was a voice of reason, leadership, understanding, and whatever. It sounds stupid and overlydramatic I know..

If Cullen doesn't get it, it's not the end of the world for me. As long as they can get the voice right (my above description).

It's been YEARS since Transformers so it's who knows if Cullen can do that voice again. But at least I'm confident that Welker can still do his own TF voices...

if you watch Cartoon network for the pas few years, hes done promos for TF cybertron and and armada. sounds just like his old G1 self.
If he doesnt get it, prolly b/c studio wants to be differnt for different sakes...

Still, this ain't a cartoon. His voice-- cool as it is--- is sort of cartoony. Real actors might lend a bigger credibility to the roles. I'm all for getting real actors to the TF's.

Just as long as it still has that original Transformers feel though, right?

I'm fine with actors putting their talents into the voices, I just hope they try to maintain the overall tone of the originals.

If not him, I think Dennis Haysbert (President Palmer) would be perfect.

yeah, i hope the cast of the current transformers doesn't get any of the parts. they are really bad.
It would be cool if some big names did the voices. but who could be Starscream?

Chalk was GREAT on Beast Wars...on the newer cartoons he sounds rushed because of the translation

The Ocean Group did a marvelous job on Beast Wars, but I do admit, they've been phoning it in quite a bit for AEC. It doesn't help that, especially during Armada, there were so many inconsistent translation errors in regards to simple stuff like character names and attacks.

When motivated, Chalk is a DAMN good Prime. When motivated.

His work on Cybertron has been a bit better, but he's also been aided by translators who actually give a s*** and some considerably better animation to give his characters some more personality (though I still hate their "lip-syncing", the robots talk like ventriloquist dummies).

Don't care if anyone believes this or not but Peter Cullen has been cast as the voice of Optimus Prime. His voice will be used in the upcoming teaser trailer and will deliver a famous Prime line. It is *NOT* recycled previous voice work from his earlier days. This dialogue came from his recent audition.

You can wait for July 4th and see/hear it for yourself.
