Piranha Remake

Piranha Feels Bite of Release Reshuffling

We predicted via our Twitter account yesterday that we'd be surprised if Alex Aja's Piranha 3D made its April 16 release date.

You see, The Weinstein Company has fallen on hard times. Nine is a financial disaster, despite its Golden Globe nominations. And their 2009 genre box office was gloomy.

Tonight, the company has announced Piranha 3D has been pushed out of April into an undetermined August slot. David Glaser, a senior Weinstein Co. executive, tells the L.A. Times that the decision was not motivated by finances.

Sources tell us that when the film does arrives in August, it will not be in 3D.

August has been a hit or miss month for TWC, many of their Dimension horror releases have come out in late-summer. Halloween II bowed around that time...but tanked.

Looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer to see the furious fish! For more on the film, visit (or revisit) our two-part set visit here and here.

Stupid Weinsteins! I could careless about the 3D part though. I just wanna see the film!

Yeah Kelly Brook is in this, I will be watching it at some point!

but Youth in Revolt wasn't even being advertise all that much. Seriously, the Weinsteins need to wake up and get a better marketing team together.

I saw tons of ads. Of course I live in a college town.

Well they have no money to market stuff and that's why everything fails. They expected big things from that NINE movie and it flopped.

At this rate i don't even see the fourth scream movie they've been talking about for the longest time ever really getting made. Wouldn't be surprised if they went belly up by the end of the year.

I would also like to add why Youth in Revolt failed. illgal downloading. Bad excuse I know, but everyone on my hall was watching it on their computers the day after it came out.

No, it's not a bad excuse. That happens to alot of movies. I know the movie the lovely bones had a dvd screener leak weeks in advance of the movie.

Anyway about this movie. Updated news.

I'm pumped to see this movie, still don't know if i'll see it in 3d or not. I like the directors other movies though.

was that Richard Dreyfuss in the dingy? He looked like he was dressed up the same as he was in Jaws.

Love that Dr. Brown is in this one too.

There is a viral site of a fake girls gone wild site.

The company is just called Wild Wild Girls. Google to find the site.

Its not hype friendly of course, hence why no direct link.

I usually like this kind of thing, but that did not look good to me. I'll check it out, cause I like The Hills Have Eyes and High Tension, but I don't have high hopes.

Its just suppose to be a fun movie, where you don't have to think about anything and just watch the blood and boobs flow.:woot:

I just saw the trailer for the first time when I went to the midnight showing of A Nightmare On Elm Street last Thursday. It looks like a lot of fun. I doubt it'll be a great movie by an measure, but I'm sure it'll be a good popcorn flick to lose yourself in for a couple of hours.
