Piranha Remake

Yeah, it's true. :hehe:

Cameron was fired from the film after eight days of shooting and wasn't allowed to view any of the footage he shot, so he snuck into the editing room and cut his own version of the film.

He talks about it in this interview. (Around the 6:30 mark)

He denies the story of course... ;)

I used to think Cameron as a jerk (still think he has an ego), but his honest discourse with the host about him not being a natural leader and how he's trying to put a stop to his old behavior kinda gives him a new found respect in my eyes.

Jerry O'Connell Becomes Latest 'Piranha' Bait

Entertainment Weekly reports this morning that Jerry O'Connell (Obsessed, Room 6) is the latest to take a dip in Dimension Films' Piranha 3D, which begins lensing next week at Lake Havasu, Arizona for release on March 19, 2010. He joins Elisabeth Shue, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames, Richard Dreyfuss, Dina Meyer, Brooklynn Proulx, Quinn Lord, Riley Steele and Jessica Szohr in the remake behind directed by genre fav Alex Aja (Mirrors, High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes). Click the title above for the brand new synopsis.

I don't see how a remake of a crappy Jaws spoof is supposed to make a Deadpool movie more likely.

A dead pool is a list of candidates who are likely to die. Since this is a horror film, you can sure bet lots of people will get offed. :woot:

And it will be bloody good.

I even commented in here?!? I don't even remember that lol

Anyways I love the new photos...this is going to be one gory movie :woot:

I hope that the Piranha remake will feature a version of the little mutant lab creature from the original that was stop-motion animated by Phil Tippet.

Yes! Just what I was thinking! :woot:

That little creature always reminded me of the stop-motion critter in ZZ Top's "TV Dinners" video too. :yay:

Man, I know it's like hoping where there is no hope, but I hope they don't go the route of CG piranha. :csad:

Eli Roth Cameos in 'Piranha 3D'

Looking at Alex Aja's history, I'm starting to think that Piranha 3D has the potential to be EPIC. It's becoming increasingly obvious that the film isn't to be taken too serious and that it's going to be a fun bloodbath. In addition to the odd cameos of porn star Riley Steele and comedian Paul Scheer (awesome), Bloody-Disgusting learned that writer-director Eli Roth cameos as the host of the wet t-shirt contest. 16 hotties and 32 pairs of soaking wet ****, what more can you want from a Piranha movie in 3-D? Oh yeahhhhh, BLOOD! Read on for a bit on that.

A B-D reader sent me the following excerpt from one of the KNB FX guru's blog:

"Between us and the physical FX crew this movie has the potential to out blood the 400 gallons we went through on Kill Bill. Remember Lake Havasu, the jewel in the Arizona desert, well Its red now. LOL. We are currently shooting the Lake massacre scene 100 boats, 500 extras, 400 gallons of blood, lots of screaming, lots of bikins, lots of torn flesh and its all in 3D. Come on!!! Tell me you're not interested in seeing this movie and I'll call you a liar."

More blood than in Kill Bill? Are you kidding me? Seriously, this movie sounds like it has some serious potential to entertain. What do you think?

March 19, 2010 can't come soon enough.

Okay so all the people who hate Roth can watch him get torn to shreds then.

Shue looks super smokin' :wow:

(Maybe now she can fend of invisible rapists)

And more blood then Kill Bill is exactly what I like to hear :woot:

More Carnage on the Set of 'Piranha'

There seems to be no shortage of bloody spy pics from behind-the-scenes of Piranha 3D, Dimension Films' reboot now filming under the direction of Alex Aja in Arizona. This afternoon another batch of blood-soaked images found their way online, one featuring the brutal aftermath of a piranha attack. Hot chicks, wet t-shirt contests, girls gone wild and man-eating piranha in 3-D... can March 19th come any sooner?

"These were taken with a cell phone, security was pretty tight. There is a great one with a half body laying on an overturned boat. You'll see the boats covered with blood, and a couple good pics of the hydraulic sound stage."

Looking forward to seeing this in 3D....from the pics, it's going to be a bloody exciting film.

Man, I know it's like hoping where there is no hope, but I hope they don't go the route of CG piranha. :csad:
they will use the best and newest technology to make the piranhas.

'Piranha' Attack 'Round Spring Break

Dimension Films has bumped Alex Aja's Piranha 3D from its March date to April 16, 2010. Not too big of a bump. A new type of terror is about to be cut loose on beautiful Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area’s new razor-toothed residents. But our heroine (Elisabeth Shue) is seriously outnumbered, and with only one chance to save the lake and her family from totally being devoured, she must risk everything to destroy the aquatic carnivores herself.

It seems like Warner Bros and Dimension are going pretty hardcore at each other. With them moving the date back to get into Freddy's old release date.

Piranha 3D Trailer Swims into Theaters When?

Alex Aja's first foray into 3-D horror fare, Piranha 3D, doesn't hit theaters until April 16, but it's about to get a huge push.

Shock Till You Drop has learned the trailer is being positioned ahead of prints of James Cameron's Avatar, another 3-D offering, which opens in theaters this week.

We're unsure if the trailer itself will be in 3-D.

A remake of the Joe Dante-directed creature feature, the film stars Elisabeth Shue, Steven McQueen, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames, Richard Dreyfuss and Christopher Lloyd. One of our own caught an advance screening of the film, you can read his thoughts here.

You now get to see killer fish in 3D before you see blue people in 3D.

Piranha Trailer Description and Thoughts!

Source: Ryan Rotten, Managing Editor
December 17, 2009

This week, Shock Till You Drop was tipped off that audiences venturing out to see James Cameron's Avatar this weekend will get a special 3-D preview of Alex Aja's Piranha remake. Turns out, our source was dead-on and it is rolling out with prints. Furthermore, it won't be available online until a later date, so you will have to get your butt into the theater to see Aja's killer fish feeding frenzy.

I had a chance to score an early look at the trailer which begins by touting the magic of 3-D, offering images of vast landscapes before we're dropped into the ocean. A narrator explains 3-D will take us to a place "unlike any other."

The camera rises out of the water and into a full-blown Spring Break bash on Lake Victoria (the backdrop of the film). Here we get shots of hot bodies, bouncing breasts, some of the film's porn star actresses and Eli Roth...until the bacchanal is cut short by a gal on a water tube being yanked violently underwater.

Star Steven McQueen is warned by on-screen mom Elizabeth Shue, "Whatever you do, do not go into the water!" and Ving Rhames issues a warning "The lake is off limits to everyone!" as we get dramatic shots of Richard Dreyfuss, Spring Breakers and Jerry O'Connell.

Then comes our first look at the threat: A wicked piranha staring menacingly from inside a tank at Christopher Lloyd who explains how the fish hunt. "The first bite draws blood, the blood draws the pack!"

From this point on, the trailer goes into berserker mode with a montage of the much talked about Spring Break massacre featured in the film, a piranha leaping out at the camera and an impressive shot of a dude on a jet ski doing an underwater flip of sorts. But the money shot comes at the end as a scuba diver ignites a flare only to be faced with a wall of piranha before the title hits us: PIRANHA 3D! There's, of course, another money shot to cap the preview but I'll save that as a surprise.

How's it all look? Like a f**kin' blast. Aja's embracing the 3-D technology with some fun visual gags and the tone is a vast departure from the heavy horrors depicted in High Tension and The Hills Have Eyes. It'll hit all the archetypal nature-run-amok beats for sure, but knowing Aja, he'll likely put a new spin on it. Looking forward to seeing how this plays in 3-D.

Piranha opens on April 16. For our full set report, click here and here.

saw the trailer.... it was awful..

i was at least expecting a couple cool shots. especially from this director.
it was bad. Especially the cg, when a hundred pirahna are revealed it looks like they just copy pasted a hundred pirahna together. ugh and the 3d is more laughable than final destination.

shame shame.

JUST got back from seeing Avatar in Real-D, and they showed the trailer. Looks like complete and utter ****. I don't think even Christopher Lloyd can save this movie, guys.:csad:

Bwahah. People boo'd this trailer when it was with Avatar.
