I dont understand why some cant just give this movie its due...it is plausable that the film made this much money not only because of teenage girls but because the film was actually great and people beside little girls went to see it more than once.

PRobably because they don't girlsfriends themselves and hate Orly and Johnny for having so many teenie girl admirers :oldrazz:

And the fact that they will always say that SPIDERMAN IS THE ROXXORZ :whatever:

If I'm being completely honest out of the 3 expected to make the most money Shrek is the film I'm most hyped for, I loved the first Spiderman but quite honestly find the 2nd unwatchable. I loved the first POTC, thought the 2nd one was quite good, but for me the Shrek series went from strength to strength. I think the interesting point of next summer will be which franchise gets the most promotion.

Hehehehe...maybe. I wont deny that a big chunk of this film's money most likely has come from the teenage girls(honestly I saw the movie 7 times and 5 times out of that the theaters had more females than males) and some boys demographic but also from what I have seen the film has appeal acorss to board too.

Well i can only speak for myself as i've watched this movie in Amsterdam. But all of the 4 times i watched it , there were a couple of teenage gals but it wasn't to that extant that they're daydreaming about orlando and/or johnny.
Most of the audience members were parents and young adults who came with their boyfriends.
Even grandparents came along so yeah.

If i were to make a difference between males and females , i'd say that there were more females but the margin was 1) very small and 2) i doubt a 4 year old or a twelve year old or for that matter the majority of the moms would drool over those two.

Still there were lotsa MILF's to be seen , and that's always a plus in my book :woot: :oldrazz:

Pirates 3. Six reasons.
  • Jack Sparrow
  • Davy Jones
  • Barbossa
  • Jack Sparrow vs. Barbossa vs. Davy Jones
  • Still fresh in people's minds
  • A bloody kick-ass cliffhanger that needs clearing
But of course, they apply to Spidey 3, too.
  • Spider-Man
  • Venom
  • Sandman
  • Battle royale
  • Been around for decades
  • A bloody kick-ass cliffhanger that needs clearing
:rolleyes: I'm still going with Pirates 3.

May 1, 2007
* Spider-Man 3
* No Reservations

May 8, 2007
* 28 Weeks Later

May 15, 2007
* Shrek the Third
* 1408

May 22, 2007
* Pirates of the Caribbean 3

Spidey 3 has two weeks clear. Shrek 3 will probably take the top spot since it appeals to most ages. Pirates 3 has four weeks clear until Fantastic Four 2 comes out. IMO, Pirates 3 might just take the cake.
The one in bold is DEFINETLY going to be well worth the wait! That battle could even be better than Spidey and Harry/Goblin vs. Sandman and Venom. But I don't know.....

I wish we could see the votes without spidy fans voting for it. I know it would be much closer.

I'm honestly going to go with PoTC:AWE.

Which film will reign supreme next May at the BO?

Personally, I say Spider-Man 3. Not only does Venom appear in Spidey 3, but it's friggin Spider-Man! He's WAAAAY more popular than Sparrow,

This sounds just like what people were saying about Superman.

POTC is more fresh in people's minds. It will only have been a year ago. It had a great cliff hanger. It is my bet.

This is going sound trollish but I apologize, I have yet to see Pirates of Carribean, but real life buzz has been luke-warm and mediocre, most people were disappointed, I'm sensing Matrix Reloaded/Revolution numbers here, where as Spider-Man 2 was a big improvement over the luke-warm first entry. I think Spidey 3 going win.

Are you kidding? If buzz were that bad the following weekends would've shown such. X3 is an example for a movie with bad buzz. A strong opening then a huge drop. POTC2 had great legs. That indicates good buzz.

Look at the numbers and use common sense... stop being in denial SPidey junkies.... you got no shot...

I find it almost unfathomable that pirates 2 has done so freakishly well this summer. The first flick was good only because of depp, and even he seems to be almost phoning it in in dead mans chest. I mean my god a billion dollars. How does a movie that ****ty make so much money? but to get back on topic, Im gonna have to go with spidey. Most people that i went with hated pirates 2 and 3 isnt gearing up to be anything special. And hell VENOM need i say more. When the general audience gets a load of topher grace suddenly turning into that thing. Well needless to say **** will be hitting the fan.

Spiderman 3 will rock next summer. Dead man's chest barely had any competition that's why it made so much.

Yes, POTC 3 will have tougher competition, but Spider-Man 3 is also facing tougher competition than the previous Spidey-movies with both Shrek and POTC out in the same month. That surely beats the competition from Star Wars that the first Spider-Man faced. And remember that Spider-Man 2 didn't face any really huge blockbusters when it was released, and yet it made less money than the first

That's fine in RI, but if that was true all around, do you think the movie would've done as well as it has?

This was the movie to see this summer. It trumped everything. X-men 3, SUPERMAN RE-FREAKING-TURNS, everything. Superman did embarrassing business this summer, fans can spin it any way they want, but for Superman and for the money they spent, that's bad.

Plus, people will see these movies for Depp's performance alone.

I have to agree with you. I loved Superman Returns. It definetly wasn't a bomb. But like Alan Horn said it should have done $500+ million. Not $400 million. 2006 should have been the Year of Superman not freaking Pirates of the Carribean (god I hate that movie :cmad: )

Spidey 3 is going to be the more profitable movie. It's much more anticipated.

I don't think so. Especially after Pirates' cliff hanger.

People on this board, be it the Superman fans or Spider-man fans just don't want to accept...

Pirates is unsinkable. The general public has fallen in love with it. Sure, they like Spider-Man...but they like Pirates a lot more.
