B/O Forecast: Pirates 3 Vs. Spider-Man 3

Last summer it was Superman Returns vs. POTC: Dead man's Chest, this summer it will most likely be Spider-Man 3 vs. POTC: At World's End...which one will come out on top?

Spider-man 3 looks alright, but I'm much more hyped for POTC.

Personally I'm giving Spidey 3 a slight edge but I suspect it'll be very, very close either way.

Pirates 3 all the way on this. But don't be depressed if all this big movies makes there box office lower. I don't see Pirates 3 doing a Return Of The Kind Finale and surpass the middle T.T.T It likely will be better then DMC. But consider all the competiton could have alot of hits in the high 200 low 300 mill range state side.

I'm surprised Disney has been as secretive as they have about POTC3. The first trailer hasn't even premiered yet, teaser or full.

Disney is smart w/ it's marketing campaign...the trailer will premiere on March 19th and that is a perfect time as appose to in the fall when the spider-man 3 trailer premiered...i hat movies that are over-maketed...look what happened to X-Men last summer thay drove that movie into the ground...

I'll give Spidey 3 the edge since it has like two weeks to itself. POTC has to battle Shrek 3. Even if POTC comes out on top, I'm sure the PG-rated Shrek will take some good money away.

Thats because Shrek 3 is mainly a kids & family type movie I can not imagine a bunch of comic book geeks & movie fan boys being excited about Shrek 3 & that should not be going towards the general public with what comic book geeks & movie fan boys think. Especially on a message board of all places.

we'll even like the media isn't making that big of a deal about it...there is a trailer for the movie and u raely hear about it...and there is little talk of it in magazines..on TV..etc...the movies getting the most attention as of now are POTC, Spider-Man, and FF2

You still in my opinion can not use the internet to see whos excited for a movie like Shrek 3 given the target audience for Shrek 3.

Shrek 3 is a kids movie! And, kids will go see it! Saying Shrek 3 is gonna flop cause it looks like crap to you is kinda dumb. Kids will go see it. Plain and simple.

I still think you can NOT USE THE INTERNET to get an idea on whos excited about a movie like Shrek 3. Most of the target audience of Shrek 3 do not even use computers for christ sake due to their ages & all of that crap

Which is very possible. I remember when I was a kid we would talk about movies no one else really cared about. Like, remember the 3 Ninjas movie?

Who else besides kids cared about these movies?! So, I think Shrek 3 has a good chance at box office gold. IN FACT, it has an advantage over Spidey and POTC. It is a light-hearted PG rated movie. Spidey 3 and POTC 3 are kinda dark and soccer moms have a problem with that! Remember Batman Returns?! It got its ass wooped at the box office by Aladdin and Home Alone 2 cause it was too dark.

But see...thats the difference! A soccer mom will go see Shrek 3 with her husband and two kids. Thats four tickets! A soccer mom will go see POTC with her g/f on a weekday afternoon.
