Pirates of the Caribbean 5 - Part 1

I could see this movie being the final one for the whole franchise or for Jack's character. Is it possible to continue without Jack? Maybe. Or that could be a sign that you just need to end things. I'm not opposed to seeing other pirate stories with people besides Jack. It could be anthology like even. There's so much you can do with it really.

It's easy to say when you know the main villain is being played by Javier Bardem.

No, I meant that this looks like him to me:

That obviously looks like Javier Bardem. It's not like Davy Jones where you could only recognize Bill Nighy is playing him from the sound of his voice.

Directors? Maybe. But Jeff Nathanson doesn't inspire the greatest amount of confidence. Neither does featuring Javier Bardem in CGI rather than himself.

This franchise has a good history with cgi villains. DMC and AWE made Bill Nighy unrecognizable with CGI and that turned out great. The undead pirates and Jone's crew were really good too.

The one time the franchise went with a non cgi big bad it was boring and ****.

Yeah. As long as the CGI is quality like the first 3 films, we are good.

I wouldn't really group Barbossa in with Jones. He was only CGI for two scenes.

I guess maybe I've grown tired of it. It doesn't help that, from what I've seen so far, I don't find the Salazar effects as good as Jones. And frankly, the non CGI baddie was hardly the reason that film was boring as ****.

Yeah, he may be covered in makeup, but his facial structure is almost entirely intact, there's nothing that actually tries to hide who the actor is.

He's a ghost pirate, his face isn't supposed to be covered.

Oh, didn't watch that!

I'm guessing Disney persuaded her to do a cameo because she's working on that?
That makes good sense. Reuniting with Disney could have made this possible. She has said she wouldn't do it in the past, but hey I'd welcome it. She is the reason I fell for the movies in the first place.

Keira Knightley secretly filming Pirates Of The Caribbean scenes on the Gold Coast

Maybe this is the reason she isn't attending Collateral Beauty events.

"The English actress, 31, reportedly shot scenes for the movie on Queensland's Gold Coast in secret."

And who reported that? No source, as always.

"The cameo is reportedly a vehicle for her more significant lead in the series' already-confirmed sixth chapter."

Pirates 6 is not confirmed at all. They're spinning lies to sell newspapers. They claim that TooFab is their source but The Mirror was actually the first to start spreading this rumor about Knightley's return four days ago.

Yep. I think it was more writing though - they tried too hard to go back to COTBP and missed what made it great: Barbossa, and a pirate crew with quirks that gave them all a bit of character. It was lacking in Jack's new crew.

Are there going to be characters on Salazar's crew that will get some focus?

Barbossa and Beckett were good "normal-looking" villains. Well ok Barbossa was technically CGI, but only for like 2 scenes. Also Barbossa still look like Geoffrey Rush even when he was CGI, just "zombie" Geoffrey Rush.

Blackbeard's problem was in the writing, not in the fact that he was human-looking. And Salazar is supposed to be a ghost, so his look works well here.

With Salazar, it's almost feel like a check list.

"Ghosts, check. Animal mutant things, check. Zombies, sorta did it in part 4 but not really, but let's so with that again."

I always saw Barbossa and co as more like Zombies than ghosts.
