Pirates of the Caribbean 5 - Part 1

Except it shouldn't BE a cameo if Disney was making a big dead about his return back at D23. Considering the plot details, Will has PLENTY of reason to be involved. This is just getting fans who've wanted to see this character come back into the plot more upset!

Calm down. Its a basic plot synopsis. Not a full cast list.

Will not being mentioned is not an indication of the size of his role. Matt Damon had a significant role in Interstellar and his name was kept out of press releases and plot synopsis.

Im sure the three leads, Henry, Carina, and Jack will encounter Will and need his help at some point during the film. That is all the involvement any of us can expect. If you were expecting him to be a main constant throughout the film like he was in POTC 1- 3 you were expecting more than was ever promised by the crew and info we already had.

Sorry. The lack of a proper trailer has me worried. Same with Power Rangers ATM.

well power rangers is out in 2 months and wont show a trailer because its garbage...

POTC has time... and the NFL playoffs/superbowl.

Really, it's not like they're trying to hide this movie. Full trailer should be out soon enough.

I'm shivering in my boots. Definitively.

Also, Will Turner was a *****ebag in 2/3 movies... who cares about him lol

I'd have to agree there. Will always was the least interesting of the main characters from the first three movies.

Watching Keira and Depp try to get something out of Bloom in the first 3 movies is one of my favorite aspects. :hehe:

Though I have to say, I have found Bloom really enjoyable in a campy sort of way since the Three Musketeers. He was a lot of fun in the Hobbit flicks.

I love every part of this post.

I tend to be extra sexy from time to time.

We'll likely get a trailer/tv spot of some sort at Superbowl. And then a full trailer in March with Beauty and the Beast.

You think a 13 ship battle is excessive? :funny: The Battle of Trafalgar involved 74 ships.

As far as fantasy film climaxes go, a 13 ship naval battle isnt even as big as the climactic space ship battles in ROTJ and Rogue One.

OK but that is real life. They're not filming it and trying to follow characters throughout the massive battle. That's a real silly comparison

And true about Star Wars. However, ROTJ is my least favorite climax of the OT and I cant comment on Rogue One because I havent seen it yet.

13 ship battle in a film series, albeit with a different director(s), where the last massive ship battle was stupid to me doesn't inspire confidence in me. It seems to be big for the sake of being big.

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazer (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea – notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Benton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has never faced.

Disney posted that synopsis on the official Pirates website more than two months ago. See how quick the journalists are in noticing some things. :woot:

Wasn't it shrunk down inside a bottle? God, I'm tired of this nonsense. Just give him the f***ing ship back.

The normal-sized Black Pearl will be back.

The picture does not work. Hotlinking :)

Speculation: Jack lost the Pearl in beteeen OST and DMTNT. Which would explain why Jack is using the Dying Gull. Perhaps in DMTNT, Jack gets Will to raise it from the deep like Davy Jones did.

Speaking of Will and Davy Jones, I read that Will is now referred to as Davy Jones because he's captain of the Flying Dutchman. What's the point of Will being referred to as Davy Jones?

Usk, don't hotlink. IF the site you hotlink to changes the pic on THEIR site you're hotlinking to into a porn pic you COULD be banned.

Probably who you actually BECOME when you Captain the Flying Dutchman whether you like it or not.

I don't like that at all lol Davy Jones was Davy Jones... I assumed there was a captain before him too that was named something else.

I guess it's like becoming the next Ra's Al Ghul :whatever:

How do you know the previous Davy Jones was the original in the first place? lol
They never said he WAS the first.

When did I say any of them were the first?

I just figured the guy before the Davy Jones we saw was someone else, and before him someone else... i never thought they were all called Davy Jones

Source?

Yeah. I mean it was fairly clear that Davy Jones was the Dutchman captain for many many years. As captain of the Dutchman, you're immortal unless someone stabs your heart. If there were others before him, at the very least, he was captain for the longest time, long enough to garner the reputation to call purgatory Davy Jones' Locker.

I buy into the Ra's al Ghul thing considering how Liam Neeson doesn't resemble the ethnicity someone named Ra's al Ghul would be. Plus he used a different name when he introduced himself to Bruce Wayne which was said to be a ruse but could easily have been his original name before he became Ra's al Ghul. I wish they addressed that in the Dark Knight films.

I don't like the Jones thing because as someone who enjoyed the second and third, it seems to undermine and strip the identity of Bill Nighy's Jones. Was Bill Nighy originally some nobody captain before Jones?
