10 years ago, he looked cool with them scarves, battered jeans and jewelry..... but now he looks like one of Alice Cooper's roadies. He looks like...a dad trying to be cool now ever since he aged like 30 years in the past 20 months.

I think they'll keep him around for the film, since their script probably has him as a key player and they already started filming. There have already been to many delays. Anyway, wasn't Depp boxoffice poison before the first PotC film too?

Depp was actually considered in a good place around that time I believe. He had been with the mother of his children for a bit, and she had cleaned him up. He certainly wasn't being accused of what he is being accused of now. Especially not with the same apparent evidence.

Dudes like Depp and Cage should look up to their peers like Pitt and Reeves. Dudes who seem to be comfortable in their own skins; and because of that, they come off youthful no matter what age they are. Depp can hide his face all his wants, but Pitt clearly has aged but is still so handsome and charismatic that he comes off younger.

I am not sure, but did Pitt or Reeves ever have a history of being heavy users? If there is anyone Depp should be looking at is RDJ imo. I feel like he was someone who finally became comfortable in his life, and look at him. The biggest movie star in the world, a lot like Depp was a decade ago.

The movie finished filming months ago. A retooling and reshooting will cost more than it's worth.

I hope Depp was able to drop the pounds for the reshoots. I can imagine Jack looking chubby in every other shot.

I'm sure the movie will be released as is.

But for the future, I'd say Depp is out, with Bloom taking over.

And BEYOND that, the character of Sparrow will never go away. It's bigger than Depp. I can see Disney doing a "Young Jack Sparrow" movie with a younger actor.

I could easily see Disney pulling a Bond and just recasting Depp as Jack Sparrow. The CEO of Disney commented on the two things (character and actor) being two separate things when he was asked about whether the statue was going to be taken down, ala Bill Cosby.

No, it has been clear for a good while he has relapsed. He aged a ton in a short time span. Nothing to do with his mother's passing. Two, if you think he didn't do it, you will have to explain the text his manager sent Heard where he admits Depp did it and is sorry for it.

I find the abuse allegations to be more believable than the Gone Girl conspiracy theory narrative about Heard. Heard has presented actual evidence to support her claims (photos, text message conversations, eyewitnesses). All Depp has is his reputation and connections and good faith.

If he is innocent he needs to clear the air about what really happened. He should've cleared the air when his wife filed a restraining order against him, and told the judge his version of the events. Attacking and smearing his wife with a PR campaign and questioning her motivations for alleging abuse is not enough. That only makes him look more guilty.

And playing the "dead mom" card for sympathy and using that to smear his wife (even before she made any claims of abuse public) when she files for divorce against him was a scummy move on Depp's part. Really put a bad taste in my mouth.

You do realize that by just having Bloom back, and not Sparrow, it's going to make less money.

There was every chance this was going to be the last one before any of this. These movies cost a ton. Unless they were to get the band back together for a 6th films, it was probably never going to happen anyways.

I understand if Disney wants to move on from Depp, but just cancel the series then. They are just going to lose money making a Pirates film without Sparrow.

Many would say the series has run its course anyways.

The first one is a great popcorn movie. One of the best of the last 15 years, actually. It is just hard to remember that because the sequels are so, so bad. Which is a shame.

I'd say DMC isn't as bad as people say. Not a particularly high quality movie, but it's well directed and imaginative with most of the characters advancing in the right direction with an awesome villain. It's the best of the sequels.

I think DMC is the best sequel, but I like AWE more. It has such insane moments, that I get a kick out of. I wish they had given them a bit more time for both. You can see the great ideas, but they were rushed.

Yeah, Davy Jones was impressive as ****. Everybody swore it was a costume with CG tentacles.

Dead Man's chest was good. Had some of the best Direction, action scenes, soundtrack and cinematography of the whole series. AWE is not something i can defend, but it was so weird that i kinda liked it. The 4th film unfortunately was completely bçand.
