466 millions in 7 days. Good money for the movie. It will surely pass 500 after the weekend.

This film was just weird. There's just something not right about it. It starts off stumbling and then seems to be heading somewhere when they get on the ship and Blackbeard is introduced, and then the film just takes a nosedive at the end. The spanish showing up and destroying the fountain was the biggest WTF moment I've ever seen in a movie. Very dissapointing. I loved the first movie, and I actually enjoyed the 2nd, this movie is probably better than the 3rd, but that's not saying much.

So finally saw the movie, was pretty great, though slow at the beginning. I gotta say, this was pretty great for a director who has only done musicals, though I do think that next time he could do with more spectacle. A lot of his wow scenes felt a bit safe compared to the first 3.

They were on their way there for the entire movie. That's why the king wanted Jack and Barbossa to go after it - so the England would get it before Spain did.

The Spanish had to show up eventually.

Made sense to me

The Spanish destroyed the fountain because it was interpreted as a pagan symbol. Remember this was a time when the Spanish inquisition was in full swing. People have destroyed many beautiful things they don't understand in the name of religion. I had serious issues with the movie, but that was definitely not one of them.

Saw this movie last weekend, loved it. I'm glad Gibbs and Barbossa made a return and references were made to the first trilogy.

The mermaids scene was the best part in my opinion, it was downright creepy and I felt unconformable watching it, all from the part when the mermaid seduced the pirate (because we all knew how that was gonna end). Until the action sequence, which was pretty intense. And even when Barbossa's crew was attacked and killed by them, which made them all the more meanacing.

I was happy that this movie was more focused on Jack. Blackbeard was actually a really cool character, I didn't hate him, I really liked him. But he could've acted a bit more "evil", (not saying he did anything good, though). Jones>Blackbeard.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one as the others before it, and I hope they continue, as the Stinger obviously has something set for another.

1.At World's End
2.On Stranger Tides
3.Dead Man's Chest
4.Curse of the Black Pearl

I saw this a couple of days ago but forgot to write my thoughts about it in this tread.

It's just great to see Deep returning back as one of the most iconic movie characters of the last decade together with a few recurring cast members and new cast members.

The action sequences, like most people have already mentioned, wasn't as good as the action scenes in the previous movies though the mermaids attack scene was very entertaining to see and it was easily one of the highlights of the movie. There was a few bits and pieces left behind in the end that they could use in the next installment. However, they should take their time crafting the sequels.

All in all, I thought the movie was okay. Yes, it was flawed, but I still enjoyed it.

3/5

That's all well and good....but they ruined the final battle scene.

I hated how everything just stopped in their favor.

Bart Roberts seems like an obvious choice. Or Jack Rackham, Anne Bonny & Mary Read.

I read the Rackman appears as a skeleton in COTBP hanging with a sign that reads "Pirates ye be warned" . Not sure if that's true but if not they should use him.

Everything stopped because a) The Spanish were armed to the teeth and b) The Spanish showing up was in Barbossa's favor.

My hugest complaint about this movie was the lack of explanations behind Blackbeard's ship, his sword, his minions...pretty much Blackbeard in general. At least in the last movies they explained everything even if it got a little convoluted. I mean how did Blackbeard put the Pearl in a bottle? At least tell us or show us in a flashback.

The spanish showing up and destroying the fountain was the biggest WTF moment I've ever seen in a movie.

The very first scene of the movie kind of established that they were going go to after the fountain. So it wasn't a WTF moment for me per se.

The WTF moment for me was the fact that they were there to destroy it. I don't know if that was meant to be a twist but I took it as such.

Didn't see that coming.

i noticed that noone complained that Cruz's character was to atractive for a pirate . i understand that she was cast to be hot in the movie. but i think Saldana in the first movie looked cute in her pirate clothes. but at the same time she didnt have tons of make up.

evenKeira in the third movie looked more like a dirty pirate.

one nitpick i have on my second viewing is the overuse of jack's theme

Squid pirates and voodoo dolls and ur complaining that its unrealistic to have a pretty girl who isnt dirty as a pirate.:awesome:

The Spanish should've just destroyed the chalices when they found them if that was the case.

Chalices are easily fixable, the fountain however is not. The Spanish destroying it was completely feasible

I thought Barbossa's monologue on how the Pearl went down was much more effective then seeing it. That was Rush's best acting in the movie. I loved his character in general in this movie.

One of the first things he asks is why Jack isn't in chains. Thought that was great.

No. It wasnt. If we saw it, we could've got that Blackbeard was a bad, and evil man.

But no...he's just a big ol' meanie poopy head.

I just didn't like that they didn't explain the mythology behind Blackbeard. How did he shrink the Pearl? How did his sword work? Why was his ship alive? The only thing I got was that he would zombify the crew because they would be basically slaves. They explained Davy Jones very well in the second movie.

My Blackbeard would've had a sewed up neck...showing that he got his head chopped off, and sewed it back on.

His introduction would've been the same...except when he says "HANG!" he actually means it...and the entire crew of mutianeers(sp?) gets HUNG by the neck, and killed. Except Jack. Because he knows where the Fountain is.

His powers would've been explained by showing his skill in the voodoo magic, and he would've told this to Jack in his cabin.
He would've also stated he is a collector of mystical relics. His most prized posession is the Sword of Triton...which allows him to power the ship.

I would've shown Barbossa's flash back. He would've been tied up by the leg...and Blackbeard would've given Barbossa a choice. Live, by cutting off your own leg, or die. Showing that this guy is evil. More evil, and vicious then Jones.

We can throw in the Angelica redemption angle. That could've worked, had he been this evil.

Anyhoo....we give Barbossa and Teach a grand 10 minute battle, while Jack fights Angelica...for something.

Barbossa finally corners Teach, and stabs him. Over. And over. And over. And over. And over....all while saying....

"There be 25 men on me ship when ye sunk it..."

Blackbeard begins to fall....

"This one be for me leg...."

And decapitates him. It can be off screen. Or something.

Angelica should get shot during a cross fire...and Jack attempts to save her. But she's a stupid *****, so she shoots Jack, which forces him to drink the fountain with her.

Oh yes...Jack Sparrow is willing to sacrifice his life for another....because in my flick, they would be better developed.

Jack puts the tear in one, and all that jazz....Angelica pulls a Blackbeard, and turns out to be a ***** in the end.

Jack Sparrow laughs....he switched them. Tricked her....he lives, she dies. Jack is back!

I was highly disappointed in this movie. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this. It's just not the same without Elizabeth and William. I originaly felt like it could work, and it had the potential but I feel like they dropped the ball. Jack Sparrow was Bug Bunny in every sense of the word in this movie (what with the disguises and the peaking around pillars). He wasn't even all that cool like in the previous films. Although Johnny Depp crafted the Jack Sparrow character, I just feel like he's gettin more and more over the top with it with each movie. Look at his performance as Sparrow in the first one and compare it to this one. I don't know about you guys but I definitely see a difference.

The plot failed to keep me interested. I felt like Jack's father's appearance was as pointless as spelling "ok" with an "ay" in it. I also felt like they were trying to make us care about the bible thumper William Turner wanna be and the mermaid, but I really couldn't bring myself to caring about either one of them I didn't even get their names. And I agree with everyone on the lack of Blackbeard backstory. I had high hopes for him as a great follow up villain after Davey Jones, but no. I was letdown.

And Cruz didn't convince me as a pirate. Her character wasn't even all that interesting. They could've brought back Zoe Saldana's character from the first one and I would've been more interested in her.
