Agreed with all. I liked Norrington's story alot ini the second actually. In fact, to keep it from its stupidity, Norrington should have went down in the locker with Jack. I'd be much better to see them try to work toegther than crabs, peanuts and goats... WTF... those guys had to be smoking some serious ****.

Although Sparrow was a kind of a clown in DMC, he was a full blown parody of himself in AWE.

I wish Norrington's arc was bigger; he's the most sympathetic character in the franchise.

That could have been so much better. :(

AWE was full of fail. Norrington was one of the characters I was most looking forward to seeing again after DMC and they completely wasted him in part 3.

It all suffered from them uneccessarily stretching out the characters and plots from the first and second. The third was proof we didn't need connected sequels.

For the third? How about a better one for the second in the first place?

The second was fine. It's the Temple of Doom of the franchise. It gets too much unnecessary hate.

I've watched the trailer for OST a few times now, and it looks great! But something feels...off about it. I just can't pin-point what it is.

TOD gets plenty of love now. KOTCS on the other hand. :csad:

But DMC had problems. I'd take it over 3 any day of the week but the Kraekn scenes got to be tedious and boring after the first attack. It wore out its welcome. They could have easily ended that film by itself without a cliffhanger. For God sakes the movie could have been over after the three way sword fight.

If I were to compare DMC to anything it, it would be Matrix Reloaded. Not as good as the first, feels incomplete due to a cliffhanger ending, plot stretched far too much, plot points that would end up leading nowhere....but it's a lot better compared to the film that followed it.

I consider DMC a complete film myself. A cliffhanger ending implies that you don't know what will happen next, that the story is left hanging to draw the viewer back. But you know what will happen after the end of DMC; they're gonna go get Jack back. I mean it's spelled out that they can in big neon letters. There's no cliffhanger or mystery there at all. It's not like the ending of the Sopranos. It's as much a cliffhanger ending as, funnily enough, Empire Strikes Back's ending with Han gone. And at the end of ESB you didn't even know if they were going to get him back, if I recall right. I might be wrong on that.

I don't know, it felt like they wasted a lot of time doing stuff that didn't matter to the main plot like the entire Cannibal Island subplot so when you actually look at how much plot progressed it still feels like half a story. I agree with those that say DMC and AWE could have been condensed into one film.

ya, but i actually like the stuff they added. not as much as the main story w/ davey jones tho.

It seems quite normal for people to dislike or have many quibbles with DMC and AWE and prefer the first film the same way people dislike The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions. At least for the forum goers it seems normal. I personally love DMC and AWE, Dead Man's Chest being my favorite Pirates film. (Then again I also enjoy the likes of The Matrix Revolutions and Reloaded so maybe I'm just crazy)

Opinions change all the time. As mentioned, Temple of Doom was reviled when it was released and now those that grew up with it have strong positive feelings for it. Back to the Future: Parts II and III both were torn apart by fans at the time and now the trilogy as a whole is beloved. Let's check back in 10 years and see where this trilogy truly stands.

Well, Jack Sparrow is now the main character, unlike the last 3 movies where Will and Elizabeth were the main focus, Barbossa is not a pirate anymore, we got new characters, some of it takes place in England..............maybe thats why it feels off.

Finally caught this trailer. Looks pretty good, I just hope it makes up for the two sequels I didn't care for.

Possibly....but Jack Sparrow is enough to get me to watch! :D

Well in 10 years this is probably going to be a Hexology instead of a trilogy. :cwink:

lol true. it's already a quadrilogy.

looking back at pirates 1, the end clearly implied that will and liz's story/adventure was over, but that jacks would go on. Now, i like that they were in 2 and 3, and thought they were brought back logically, and even had pretty good story lines. but it still kinda bothers me that they didn't get an ending as happy as the one they were supposed to have.:csad:
