Looks fine. I like how it's in continuity with the other films, but not as much. Seems more in line with the first. The cinematography in AWE got stale.

I'll never like AWE. It is not a matter of growing on me. The film was just bad. Bad on a variety of levels. AWE is a major reason I am not that psyched for this movie. I'm waiting for reviews on this one. Loved CotBP and DMC...but AWE was just THAT awful.

It took a couple of viewings on cable tv but...it has grown on me.

...I still haven't bought it yet though. :o

My ratings for the Pirate films.

POTC 1: 8.5/10

POTC 2: 7/10

POTC3: 5/10

The trailer looks neat! Hopefully it's as good as the first one.

I also thought about that this morning when I was watching it again. I think it might be a little subliminal message who knows, I guess its not subliminal seeing as he straight up says it...

Direct messaging then.:hehe:

This movie looks a million times better than POTC3. Especially since Bloom & skinny version of Natalie Portman aren't in it to put me to sleep.

I don't think the last line of the trailer was meant to be subliminal... They will continue making movies for as long as it makes money... Well, unless Johnny Depp stops, which is possible, but that guy has a great work ethic so...

As cool as Ian McShane looks as Blackbeard, I would be down for a Blackbeard film down the road. I know it would probably never happen but I would watch it...call it Blackbeard's delight. :awesome:

The trailer for this is actually pretty good. My expectations remain low until I see the film, though.

I tried watching AWE on cable several times after the massive disappointment in the theater. The first few scenes (the hanging scene, the stuff in Singapore) was great. But right about the time (ironically) we start seeing Jack, the movie falls on its face and never recovers. It is just one stupid thing that makes no sense after the other. Will and Elizabeth inexplicably hate each other even after the Three's Company moment of the second film is solved. Will's betrayal; Jonathan Pryce dying off screen and randomly being seen in limbo; Calpyso not being able to help Elizabeth's father without a real explanation; zombie Jack in the ship; 20 double crosses; Barbossa being regulated to the goofy uncle and Jack's sidekick; NORRINGTON BEING KILLED OFF DOING NOTHING; Jack's father being the one to off Norrington; the Kraken being killed off screen; giant sea ***** on the ship; Will and Elizabeth becoming tragic star crossed lovers with him doomed to sail the Flying Dutchman forever; Jack losing the Pearl.

It was just awful, awful, awful all the way around.

COTBP: 9.5/10
DMC: 7/10
AWE: 3/10

So disappointing.

The third one didn't really work for me either. There was too much focus on the boring characters and it tried to be too serious and poignant and it failed at it.

But my favourite is actually the second one. In it the plot played second fiddle to gags and whatever silly stuff they could think of and it completely worked for me. The second film was the only one to truly embrace how absurd of a premise this franchise is. It was like a live action Monkey Island movie.

AWE: 3/10

So disappointing.

I thought Pirates 3 started out great too. I still really like the hanging scene. It just went down hill after that though.

ya know, when ya like the whole movie, it comes across as a lil odd that the only scene some people like is the 1 where people hang.

Ah, I liked the third. I mean, yeah, it had bad moments, but it had good.

Curse of the Black Pearl: 9/10
Dead Man's Chest: 8.5/10
At World's End: 8/10

My ratings would be something like this-

The Curse of the Black Pearl: 11/11
Dead Man's Chest: 11/11
At World's End: 6/11

TCotBP 7.5/10
DMC 6/10
AWE 3/10 (i thought it was just awful)
Im really hoping for some redemption

It's hard for me to see the second and third movie separate... so... I'll just do this.
Pirates: CotBP - 9.5
Pirates: DMC + AWE - 8.0

I actually liked AWE more than DMC, but neither are anywere near as good as POTC1, I just liked the fact AWE closed all the storyline, especially of Will and Elizabeth, but I was unhappy at Jack not getting the Pearl back.

What I liked about AWE is that I was expecting a Disney-style happy ending with Will and Elizabeth getting married, her father all happy and Pintel & Raggety all dressed up for the ocassion. But no, they killed Elizabeth's father, which I tought was a nice move. But yeah, if it wasn't for Barbossa, the whole "I don't think this is the best time", I would definitely vomit that scene.

Black Pearl- 9/10
Dead Man- 8/10
World's End- 6/10
