Whaaaaaa? Well, I'm surprised this is happening; I guess Pixar is not ready to have the "direct to video" label on any of their movies. Now, Toy Story 2 was originally going to go direct to video, but they retooled it and ultimately made it not only into something great, but something really special, and a sequel I think surpasses the first. I wonder if there's any retooling going on with this. I didn't like the idea of this thing, but I was more comfortable with it going straight to video so that I could comfortably ignore it. Now I'm going to feel the need to see it because it's a Pixar film being released theatrically.


ETA: Wait, this actually isn't Pixar after all? How'd we think this was Pixar in the first place? Okay, well, if it's not Pixar, then I can ignore it. Yay!

Aa a biz guy, this seriously just rubs me the wrong way. I just don't like that they're fooling audiences into believing a direct to DVD movie was always meant to go into theaters. Hopefully, although I know they won't, they'll market it as theatrical showings before the already planned home video release. I just don't like the con job being played.

It's not Pixar that made it. It was probably one of the Disney Channel lower rent companies that did it for a quick buck which makes it worse. Since some people would probably be confused in thinking that it was a small side project Pixar did or something. As said, it just seems like a big money-stealing scheme unless they tell people what actually went on. If people know, it would be cool. If they hide it, I just can't align with that.

Actually this film is under John Lasseter being made at Disney's India Studio, 'DisneyToon Studios', who makes the Tinker Bell movies. This is a Pixar spin off as well, where Mater hinted to this film in one of his Mater Tall Tales: Air Mater. So this is a Pixar/Disney film made in India, result of the new Pixar/Disney merger.

If it was Pixar - Pixar would clearly have their name attached to it. Disney owns the rights. They sent it to another company. The core team at Pixar didn't make it. And it was never intentioned to be a theatrical film. They're sending it to theaters to try to make a quick buck as everyone who knows its history can clearly see, hopefully by promoting it as a limited engagement rather than completely tricking people. By Pixar team I mean the actual theatrical group behind it.
