Animation Pixar's Coco

This looks and sounds like the usual classy, brilliant Pixar we are accustomed too.

Set in Mexico and with an all-latino cast

Trump will never allow that movie to see the light of day.
That will be his first presidential decision, to stop the movie.

He'll replace it with what, Pixar's Coo-Coo Conservatives? A donkey gets roped into the political arena by a scheming elephant?

The article is incredibly upsetting.

This is the only original Pixar movie we'll see from now until 2020? Oh, man! Pixar really is past its prime. The Incredibles 2 should be - INCREDIBLE - though, with Brad Bird at the helm.

This sounds great, BTW!

If they could steer away from making Cars films, they'll be fine. Those re-visited stories of recent times, and especially Finding Dory was them at the top of their game again and arguably Inside Out was one of their finest. Cars sadly, is a cash-cow, which ironically goes against all their principles of the animation development / story first ideology they have.

Aside from Inside Out, Disney Animation seems to have overtaken Pixar as the king of the mountain again over the past five years with Frozen, Wreck-It Ralph, Big Hero 6, Moana, etc. Coco and The Incredibles 2 seem promising, though.

I've been waiting for more info on this. I actually liked Book of Life (as did many others I know) and can't wait to see what Pixar bring with this.

Sounds like the sort of picture we need right now.

It's so funny how Disney has become this counter cultural force now for blockbusters lol

Interesting, very interesting.

Sweet Jesus, that trailer gave me chills. It hit so many notes (no pun intended). Music, boy/dog relationship, visuals, epic adventure, and just great representation of Mexican culture. This might be the first Pixar film I see in the theaters since The Incredibles.

Animation looks fantastic... but we just had 2 Pixar movies in a row where there is some kind of 'I'm lost and need to get back' type deal which is what this looks like.

If the movie is good though I guess it won't matter.

This one isn't really about him being lost, it's more about his family forbidding music for some ancient reason and his love of it. This is like him finding out why. I'm sure there's some Pixar-level dark reason for it.

Yeah, looks like a winner. Love the feel of this.

The "I'm lost and need to get back" trope has been in most Pixar movies from the beginning. All three Toy Story movies, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc (the character Boo), Cars, Wall-E, Brave, Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur, Finding Dory, etc. It's one of their staples.

That being said, this does look interesting.

It looks nice, but something isn't grabbing me just yet.

Loved that trailer. This film has my attention now!

For those who didn't feel much from it, can you at this point say why ? Just intrigued how people couldn't be drawn in by that trailer, all the customary Pixar 'feels' were present.

Honestly? The kid is too good at playing guitar. Not that it's an instant KO, but if the thing that's supposed to be drawing me into the character is also their natural talent, it can lack endearment. There's no context for his life except the sort of cliche adorable dog. Even in the trailer I saw the hilarious "who lights this many candles on their own" trope.

It looks interesting, but it lacks wonder.
