Plot ideas based on SPOILERS (general discussion)

Yeah, in #373, she's warming up to the spell. I suspect this bit with the Destroyer takes place in Volume 5, which, sadly, the local libraries do not have. (and still waiting for the Omnibus on interlibrary loan)

lol my offer is still on the table

I am sure there are some comic book stores around where you are from, right? I know a few within 30 minutes of my house, one which has each volume of the simonson run, along with blood and thunder, jurgen's run, and just about everything thor thing you can think of. along with many other characters

oh really please. Good. Get jane out of here. Sif and Thor. not Stupid and Thor

yes, I reffered to Jane as "Stupid"

it depends if Malekith is alive at the end of the film or not lol. he makes more sense, but I just said Loki in case malekith is dead, though he has no reason to be in league with Surtur. it would work of the kurse thing doesn't end in this. But i don't know. Don't you have the feeling he may sorta be a one and done guy?

maybe, but we dont have any idea how many Eccleston signed up for, or Krige for that matter, and even so with Malekith so much makeup probably not that big a deal to recast depending on how impressive his performance is, same with Krige's part if it's Hela. And plus you are saying that it's really Malekith that works with Surtur, SO. Maybe he'll make it to the next one. It seems like Surtur will need a minion to do his bidding leading up to his eventual appearance, and after reading the Simonson run (what I've read) it seems like Loki would make an awfully sassy minion. :p

YES. That was my perfect after credit scene.

Something like this...Loki (or whoever is in league with Surtur) arrives in Musplelheim. Feeling a bit weary, starts to walk through where he is greated and laughed at by fire demons, who essentially escort him to surtur's lair. Meanwhile through out the whole time, we hear *DOOM* every 6 seconds or so. Loki gets to a clearing, and we see his face sort of twist in slight fear/awe, he says something, and the *dooms* stop, surtur says something in return...as the *dooms* continue, and grow more rapid. The camera pans around to behind loki, and zooms out, as we see surtur's back facing us, forging twilight, he's like...200 feet tall. and when the camera zooms all the way out, he puts the forging hammer down, and picks up a sword, which then becomes engulfed in flames, along with his head. end scene :P
Yeah, I like it!

I was hoping to have DOOM's throughout the film, much like Simonson did in his first year on the book. But this works very well too.

Well, that's mean. And inaccurate, too. She's far more clever than anyone else in Midgard.

perhaps some dreams that Odin has, he knows something is up, something big is going to go down in the 9 realms, on the horizon?

Or we know that Tony had to work with the ravens in Thor 2, we had supposed it was to do with the conversation between Thor and Loki in Avengers, but perhaps it could also be that they recreate their trip down to spy on Surtur and one of them doesnt make it back. :csad:

Yeah, Odin receives several signs that something very bad is brewing in the Nine Realms. I think it would be cool to do some of that, weaving in the Norse ideas of fate and prophecy.

Although, now that I think about the bit in the books with the ravens, I wonder why Odin had to enchant the ravens to go to Muspelheim. WHy couldn't Heimdall just look for him?

True, maybe Surtur is able to hide his activities from Heimdall? Or else staring at Surtur too long would burn out his eyeballs? LOL

I'm too much of an animal lover, every horse that gets killed in the comic, and then the raven dies and I'm like... "awwwwwww! poor thing!" :(

at the end credits:

"No mystical ravens or 8 legged horses were harmed in the making of this film" :)

you mean just like, random DOOMs' through out the movie? I think that would be cool. Literally shakes the 9 realms.

its my own bias

I really don't like natalie portman, never did. I probably wouldn't be this against her if it were a different actress. She's just one of them, like Jamie Foxx, not real good reasons, I just strongly dislike him as an actor. Same with Natalie Portman

lol you two, don't you ever just stop thinking and just kick back and say, "whoo caressssssssss" and just enjoy it? :word:

Yeah. Like in the SImonson books, every so often, we get a page that starts, "Meanwhile, beyond the fields we know, stands a solitary figure, and ringing out is the sound of . . . .. DOOOOOOM!" So I imagine cutaways from time to time, showing the hammer against the work, shadows cast by the glow, tempering of the piece, etc.

ANd of course, the sound of DOOOOM!

ANd then we go back to the story.

I feel like a horse ALWAYS gets killed in the thor comics. I hate it, I feel wicked bad too. lol "its just fictional writing, its just a fake story" lol

that could most certainly work. And then it is revealed who it is after the credits, (to those fools who couldn't figure it out by then :P)

like when Hela killed Thor's horse I was like "You killed that poor horsie! YOU BASTARD!" and yet, all the other giant, monster and people killing? Meh. it's just a comic. :whatever: So in a way a horse in the Thor comics is like the guy in the red uniform in the landing party on Star Trek. :wow:

Although, now that I think about the bit in the books with the ravens, I wonder why Odin had to enchant the ravens to go to Muspelheim. WHy couldn't Heimdall just look for him?

Went back to the issue in which Odin dispatches the ravens. He comments that the runes he puts on their claws will allow them to go through spells that are shielding Muspelheim, allowing them to go where Thor and Beta Ray Bill were not able to (when they went to BRB's home world and tried to go through the portal there).

So presumably Heimdall can't see there either.

(I was pretty sure SImonson had it covered. I have yet to find a hole anywhere in his story.)

abd it's only drawings. So it's even less sad. Phew, ok, lets breathe Elizah, just a drawing and words...that's all. Not even in a movie...just drawings and words...

yeah I figured he had it covered. So that'll probably be added to my summary at some point. LOL

Yup, yup.

AM and I were just talking about this in the Alice Kriege Thread. But another role has popped up. In the Thor arc where he gains full odinforce, and rune magic, he meets the fates, and figures out that ragnarok is a cycle, and he stops ragnarok. Perhaps instead of 3 fates, there could be just 1. They had a very small role in that arc. And if this movie is a lead up to a surtur, ragnarok story, then alice's role could certainly be Fate. As it would be a small role

I feel like the number 3 is a pretty special magical number, and in this it is past, present, and future that the fates represent. I think there are other mythos that have this as well but I'm old and drawing a blank (Greek or Roman mythology has 3 fates doesnt it?) . ALSO, and I know you will roll your eyes but whatever!... those stone pillars in Bourne woods, I've looked at REALLY closely. There is the gold sort of twisted crown at the top and the large symbol near the bottom that are extremely similar to Karnilla's various headdresses, and near the top there is 1 sort of flowery symbol, and below that 3 more smaller ones. THIS is why i feel so certain that Bourne woods is the outskirts of Nornheim. The one flower at the top Karnilla and the 3 below representing the 3 Norns. Whether we see them or not in Thor 2 or ever, I dont know but I feel confident that those symbols are meant to represent those characters. I feel like if we get Norns at all, it will be 3. However, it may be something that is simply an "Easter egg" nod to those characters, but we wont actually see them in the MCU.

Also, Sam mentioned before a old woman that was prophesizing Ragnarok, Volla, I think, and I know Karnilla has Haag by her side, so maybe something could be done with that for a character, possibly instead of using the 3 Norns in the story.

Okay, in regards to changing Kurse, what do you think of instead of Malekith sending Algrim down in the pit with Thor, he steals and uses the Tablet of Life on him? I see it has been used in Spiderman in the comics, but it IS an item in Odin's vault. And in the description it says...
The text written on the Tablet of Life is actually a chemical formula, the “Lifeline Formula,” which augments its user into a superior being, the best of their species.

Kurse could still blame Malekith for turning him into a monster and turn on him later, I suppose. I dont really see anything in the vault, other than the Tesseract that might do that, or the IG, but then it sounds like the 9 realms are in some pretty deep doo-doo if anyone else gets a hold of that. :wow:

Not toooo sure. I feel like there will be a lot of easter eggs, the karnilla symbol being one of them, I think. Though that is a legit way Kurse could become Kurse. It's tough to say though, regarding the items in the vault, they COULD just be easter eggs. Who knows. and that is IF an item in the vault is what changes it. If anything it would be that, or the tesseract. The IG dwarfs about everything there, including the tesseract, in terms of power. And I am sure the IG will stay exclusive to Thanos' story, even in the MCU, so we don't gotta worry about that. :) who knows

RE: Volla, posting this here because what I have to say is sort of spoilery but...
I feel like if we get someone like that, it's likely to be on that trip to Hel or wherever Loki has to take them. She won't be an attendant to Frigga, since, certainly she should have spoken up sooner if she or Frigga had such knowledge. Another possibility again, is if they make her Karnilla's attendant, a combination with Haag, and they meet her after the battle at Nornheim, that is another possibility since they wouldn't normally have access to this character due to strained relations with Nornheim. But I think someone they meet on their trip is most likely (and that would be a bit like Balder's time in the desert when he saves the youngest Norn.)

But at the same time I sort of feel like we may not get any predictions like that until Thor 3.

I be hijackin' this here thread mateys...but okay...this is how I picture Felynes looking in a live action Monster Hunter movie, but a bit more bipedal.

Hey! Gimme my thread back! :p

Some new details from Adewale, courtesy of xeno000 and transcription from Marvel Freshman!

“Thor 2; great movie, great opportunity. I've been a fan of the Marvel Comics and I got a massive opportunity to play two characters in the movie: Algrim and Kurse. You go in thinking, 'Yeah this is great.' But when you get in there, you're like whoa; six hours of makeup, prosthetics, all the physical [stuff]. But honestly, I loved it. It's going to be such an epic. And both of the characters; I have blonde hair, blue eyes, pointed ears, fangs, horns; everything you could want as boy in an action hero movie. It's amazing. The Fighting was really demanding. For instance, Kurse is the one that does all the fighting. It's forty pounds of extra weight and the good thing about it is that it's very flexible and elastic. I have a routine before I put it on: I stretch and do all my pilates. You see this big creature doing pilates, it's great. And then we'd have to go fight. Me and Chris [Hemsworth] go toe-to-toe. It was hardcore. But you don't really get into [these kinds of movies] of you're not ready for that kind of thing. You gotta be mentally fit, physically fit because you're going to shoot a scene ten to fifteen different ways.”

“[Thor and Kurse] fight differently. Chris has his hammer while Kurse is very animalistic, he's got horns. So I tried to go with that flow. My movements are [basically] like an animal: twisting my body, turning my head, all kinds of things. Kurse is meant to be extremely powerful, nothing can stop him. It's a great ride. There's fights everything in the movie.Loki gets his fair share of fights; [one of which] is between him and I as well. The great thing about Kurse is he is having it with everybody. But yes, Loki has some amazing fights. [Fans] are really gonna be happy with this movie. Everybody gets their little shine. I won't tell you what really happens, but there's some great surprises.”

“As we speak, [Marvel and I] are talking about [playing in another Marvel movie]. Obviously, Marvel is a great family that I'm happy to be working with. We had a great time on Thor: The Dark World. I loved to continue that relationship. (After Guardians of the Galaxy was brought up) I'm not talking about anything yet, just having a good relationship with Marvel.”
http://www.mtv.com/videos/movies/87...l-be-epic-adewale-akinnuoye-agbaje-says.jhtml

He says that Kurse does all the fighting, so that makes it seem like we won't get the Algrim-Thor fight where he's betrayed, so maybe it will be the tablet that transforms. Hm.

I love that interviewer for asking such a specific Loki question. LOL! And I love his response! Yay! I'm grinning! :woot::woot::woot::woot:

and what he says at the end makes me wonder if Kurse will survive Thor 2, and maybe he's talking to them about Thor 3 or Avengers 2. I don't think GOTG necessarily.

It's definitally for thor 3. And I am very very happy with this interview. Kurse isn't going to get the destroy treatment, I am so pumped! ha YES

in the interview it sort of sounds like Kurse also has blonde hair and blue eyes, but horns added. It sounds like he's going to look quite different from the comics version. I am also wondering if the reference in the Italian footage review to " a big "gorilla" krosan tusker" might have been Kurse, but something lost in translation or the person describing didn't know this was Kurse and didn't know how else to describe. Hm.

RE: surprises, I wonder if technically it's a "surprise" that Kurse turns on Malekith if it's already been a surprise in the comics... or if he's referring to other brand new surprises? :woot:

I'm so pleased, it sounds like Loki's gonna see lots of fighting action, and not just more Thor-Loki (though I'm sure that'll happen some at least once)
