Poison Ivy Casting Thread

It's a waste in this universe because we have Lois already. In another universe Chastain would have been good as Vale. Elevated that character. She could be Ivy but I don't think she's the best choice for the part. I think Evan Rachel Wood would nail the look more and deliver the seductress aspect of the character better. But Chastain is always good in my eyes.

They're going to give us a younger actress though. I don't think a lot of us will know the new Catwoman or Poison Ivy once their names are announced. I just hope they don't butcher Pamela AGAIN. Because we will probably never see her in another film again if that happens. Hopefully it's a good enough performance and version of the character where she can be brought into The Batman. Even for a small cameo. Just something that shows confidence in Poison Ivy instead of being too embarrassed to use her again.

If there is to be a conventional love interest, it should be Silver St Cloud. Unfortunately neither Margot Robbie or Amber Heard are free to play her...
I feel like Miranda Tate was basically Silver St Cloud in the same way that Ras was also Ducard. Nolan probably just changed her name because Silver St Cloud sounds like a cliche pornstar name lol.

Eh...Whatever Cotillard was playing, it was unacceptable as either Silver or Talia.

She could have used more screentime and a little more development but it was acceptable to me. As both.

She could have used a better script. And a better actress. And a better character. And a better movie.

Marion Cotillard is one of the finest actresses to emerge in this 21st century. Now you sound ridiculous.

Neeson made it work. Cotillard didn't. Even "feel it in your bones" worked for the story better than Natalia Al Tate St. Cloud.

I don't feel particularly strongly about her one way or the other in general, but she was crap in TDKR.

Yeah, the character was a serious drag on the movie.

I disagree.

I think that's a major stretch. Most people who say that are basing it off that one scene, where Nolan used a bad take. I thought she was very solid throughout, especially when she makes that turn.

She did well enough. Her character was certainly underwritten and I'm not sure she was in the right mindset to add more depth to it like other actors on CM movies.

Watch The Immigrant.

Or Two Days, One Night.

Or Rust and Bone.

You'll get strong feelings after that.

She's good. But she was really bad in TDKR. Really bad. And the character didn't help. Like regwec said, everything about the Natalie character brought the whole movie down.

I would prefer somebody like Christina Hendricks or Bryce Dallas Howard. Kelly Brook could work as well.

Kat Dennings for a younger Ivy.

I would be fine with Megan Fox if it happens

I think the obvious choice would be Jessica Chastain. Not only because she is a redhead, and a beautiful one at that, but she is also a great actress. She also is roughly in the same age range (about 5-7 years younger) than Affleck. Bale too for that matter. She would've been a good Poison Ivy for either universe.

With that said, Ayer and the studio probably want a 20-something. Mind you Rises also went with an age gap between Batman (who was supposed to be in his early 40s) and a late-20s Catwoman. But... it just seems like a mistake for the DCEU. How much history can Batman have on these characters if he has 20 years on all of them? Besides, I do not trust them finding a great actress for the character.

Chastain isn't the "obvious" choice. Eva Green is. Femme Fetale personified. Both would be good but I admit to being blinded by how long I've championed Jessica as Batwoman.

As WB's budget for any movie in which Ivy will appear is likely to extend to hundreds of millions of dollars, I don't think we need limit ourselves to fancasting only actresses who would not require hair dye.

Heh, I usually agree. I tend to roll my eyes about those who fans cast simply because they think they have a matching hair color and are hot. I just actually think Chastain is kind of perfect for this role, and given the age range Affleck is in.

With that said, I think Eva Green could play it very well too, and is a great actress. Then again, she seems to be trying to get away form being typecast as the "seductress." So I have my doubts whether she would be that interested in the part.

Funny non-sequitur: I saw someone recommend in the Catwoman thread Emilia Clarke. I am still not convinced Clarke is that good of an actress (hope she proves me wrong one day, because she's a charming presence), but she'd be a much better fit for this character than Selina.

I'd like an older Ivy, and I wonder if Carice van Houten can do a convincing American accent. She plays redheaded seductress very well.

I'm quite desperate to see Eva Green in DCEU. Don't care if she'd play Catwoman, Talia or any other character... just wanna see her in that universe.
