Alright, so now we are about a month and a half away from this movie's release. And basically, right now I'm wondering where all the promotion is. Where are the TV spots? The specials? The trailers? I see the trailers and other various items online. But aside that, not much else.

I remember when the earlier Brosnan films were coming out, it felt like I couldn't turn on the TV and not see something about James Bond. Especially for Tomorrow Never dies it was all over the place, especially for cars and cell phones.

So I wonder, is Sony internally somewhat skeptical about the movie? Are some of the higher-ups possibly skittish and sharing in some of the fears and criticisms of Daniel Craig? Right now it kind of feels this way.

As good as this movie looks, in other ways I feel they've mis-managed it. I'm not seeing trailers or anything for this movie at all in theatres. Virtually nothing in the way of TV spots. For big event movies like this, you generally start seeing the TV ads before other, smaller movies.

Also the crap with the no smoking rule, along with no dry martinis rule as well. Seriously, WTF?

Every indication I'm getting seems to be that this is the Bond film we've needed and wanted for years. So why is Sony holding back?

Its because James Bond can sell all by itself. We all know sony are more than capable of marketing this movie in heavy fashion but there's no need to do so. Marketing this movie doesn't need so much, it advertises itself in a way.
Also, as it is this film is under heavy scrutiny because of Craig being cast but sony know this movie will be seen regardless and when viewers see it, they'll all be shocked at the majestic awesomeness of what Craig's Bond has to offer.

"they'll all be shocked at the majestic awesomeness of what Craig's Bond has to offer."

Sorry, I laughed when I read that. Based on Craig's dour stiff delivery: "well I wouldn't be any good at my job if I did" where he had all the charisma and Bond vibe of mouldy bread, I find it hard to believe Craig will be majestic or awesome. But we'll find out next month if Craig delivers as Bond.

well what do you expect, for him to deliver the line with a fat grin on his face? Er no. He said it brilliantly, cold and with a touch of egotistical sarcasm. Laugh all you want but come november you'll be 1 of those jumping on the pro-Craig bandwagon.

I still feel Sony is poorly promoting this movie.

These movies sell themselves but even Goldeneye got more playtime than this.

CR and Craig will flop or underperform because Joe and Jane Public will want a more handsome charming Bond. Wait and see...

Speaking from a totally heterosexual perspective . . .

I feel Craig is a pretty handsome guy myself.

The Connery I remember as Bond wasn't always the most charming guy. At times he was downright cold.

Also some of the clips with Vesper and Bond seem kind of warm and sweet to me. Bond's confession to her seemed pretty significant, that he would say something like that to a woman amazed me. I'm intrigued about this relationship.

Let's get back on topic. My main issue here is how Sony is promoting the movie. This really feels like one of the least promoted Bond films ever.

To tell you the truth, we still have some time left. I mean, the movie is coming out on November 17th. You never know, we might get something tomorrow...

i think the movies being promoted well. it should really start to kick in later this month.

Just saying, for this type of movie, that feels a bit late.

And for other Bond movies, they got the promotion campaign started earlier. And they were a lot stronger.

There was a TV spot during Lost. Just imagine how many people saw it tonight :woot:

See? Just give it time,TheVileOne, I'm sure the average movie-goer will notice that there's ACTUALLY a new Bond movie coming out. Don't worry about. I agree, LOST is one of the most watched shows ever, it's a no-brainer that people got hooked on that TV spot.

Wait, I knew that in this movie, Bond isn't allowed to smoke cigarettes because its a bad influence on children. But is he really banned from drinking dry martinis in this movie???

If so, that's sad. "Dont smoke or drink in front of the kids! It is inappropriate for them to see it! Well, it's okay if you just kill people." Don't you just love political correctness these days?

It's just cigarettes. He drinks dry martinis in Casino Royale.

I read that they switched him from dry martinis to heineken.

Once again, give Bond his damn cigs. Let him smoke his lungs to dust!

I thought it was a marketing campaign for the Heineken beer. Does that mean they edited out the scenes where 007 asks for a dry martini. That would be dumb. Nah, I don't believe it. One of the reviews read that...

...when Bond loses a lot of money in the poker table, the bartender asks him, "Shaken, or stirred?" Bond responds with a cold look, "Do I look like I care?"

Anyway, we'll see when the film rolls out in November.

Your in blatant violation of the stupid comments acts. Dont be so ridiculous. A good James Bod film is what people want to see and if they dont like Craig or CR, then as the final cut reviwer said, you lot can all go and watch you DADs and TNDs.:o

I think it could go either way. While I do think the promotion of this movie is adequate, it's true that isn't as much as the previous Bond films, AND it should have started WWWAAAYYYYYY sooner than it did.

because DC isn't the bond people want or expect, and I think almost all first impressions of him are negative ones. You have to kind of let the idea of him playing Bond grow on you for a while before you accept it.

Riding on Public Transportation, there are posters at almost every bus stop and the sides of bus here in Miami. We have one tv spot that premiered during Lost, hopefully it picks up soon.

Yeah but CR is marketed to be 1 of those movies that just smacks you in the face with vey little warning. Many people are going to be positively surprised thats why, the movie is being slightly downplayed but things will pick up a bit.

It's a little early still to get worried. Just a little. If in a week things haven't picked up my concern will grow. I honestly think the film will be successful regardless. The advertising will change the level of success.

In the past, it certainly felt like they got the ball rolling earlier than this.

yeah true......

at least they recently released a tv spot......

hopefully they play it during Heroes:-)up:) or American idol:-)o )

Chris Cornell is doing the music video for 'You Know My Name' on October 10th 'til the 11th. So, when people see it, they will probably (hopefully) be as hyped as we are.
