Alright, so now we are about a month and a half away from this movie's release. And basically, right now I'm wondering where all the promotion is. Where are the TV spots? The specials? The trailers? I see the trailers and other various items online. But aside that, not much else.
I remember when the earlier Brosnan films were coming out, it felt like I couldn't turn on the TV and not see something about James Bond. Especially for Tomorrow Never dies it was all over the place, especially for cars and cell phones.
So I wonder, is Sony internally somewhat skeptical about the movie? Are some of the higher-ups possibly skittish and sharing in some of the fears and criticisms of Daniel Craig? Right now it kind of feels this way.
As good as this movie looks, in other ways I feel they've mis-managed it. I'm not seeing trailers or anything for this movie at all in theatres. Virtually nothing in the way of TV spots. For big event movies like this, you generally start seeing the TV ads before other, smaller movies.
Also the crap with the no smoking rule, along with no dry martinis rule as well. Seriously, WTF?
Every indication I'm getting seems to be that this is the Bond film we've needed and wanted for years. So why is Sony holding back?
