Popular series you never got in to

friends
scrubs
that 70's show
american idol
snl
south park

Star Trek. All versions and incarnations. Never saw the appeal.
This one I can agree with. I just see that and go ''Don't see what's the big deal."

I strangely however sorta kinda vaguely wanna see Abrams take on it.

I am proud to say...

Survivor
Any of the Real Worlds
Who wants to be a Millionaire
Deal or No Deal
Sex & The City
American Idol
Americas got Talent
Greys Anatomy

The only good Real World was the one with Puck... and that's of course because he was such an a-hole.

Lost. I just know I don't have the patience for such a show, waiting week to week, year to year for answers...but I also know its probably something I would enjoy so I am going to wait til the series is complete, buy the DVDs and go from there.

Same here, which is odd considering my favorite show currently on television is 24.

^Same here. Though 24 seems to move alot more quickly.

Lost
Heroes
24
Survivor
Real World
Buffy
Angel
How I met your Mother
CSI
Ugly Betty
Veronica Mars
Medium
Prison Break
Mad Men
Sex in the City
South Park
Earl
House
Arrested Development

Seinfeld - I just can't like a show where I absolutely hate all of the characters.
Everybody Loves Raymond - Yes, it is better than most sitcoms, but thats really not saying much.
Friends - Completely mystified as to why this was so popular.

No, it wasnt.

That's one reason I'm kinda not as into Battlestar as I could be as they make Adama and his military seem like the be all end all of importance to the survival of the human race...like President Roslin just doesn't matter at all, when she's usual right and they are wrong as all hell....but you know I haven't even finished the series, so my opinion might change, I very much doubt it though.
The human race had just been wiped out (save a few thousand) by a hostile force. The military pretty much was the most important thing in their survival.

However, I don't know what you're talking about when you say that Roslin didn't matter. There was an entire prophecy centered around her. Everyone is on their way to Earth by her decision. Also, (and I can't be spoiling much, because I thought it was pretty damn obvious half-way through season 1) Commander Adama and President Roslin have a thing for one another, and those feelings play a very big part in the story later on (though the writers and actors keep it from being too overt or shoved down our throats).

And about Doctor Who vs. BSG, I love both shows. However, Doctor Who isn't more consistently good than BSG. Hell, Doctor Who isn't all that consistent in and of itself. The Series 3 finale went from amazing to crap like *snap* that. Even back in the 2005 series, "The Long Game" was wedged inbetween "Dalek" and "Father's Day." The only good thing about "The Long Game" was Simon Pegg.

Look at the Doctor Who thread. We complain about Davies' writing in the Who thread more than anyone complains about anything in the Galactica thread.

Doctor Who is a fun show and the original show is a 20th century classic, but it's hardly one of the best sci-fi shows to air in the past 5 years. Primeval is probably a consistently better written show, and is held back only by a special effects budget that leaves it with some of the worst CG monsters I've ever seen on a weekly basis.

Eh, different strokes for different folks, the people in the Who thread are a very small portion of the thoughts of the online fanbase I've seen for Who.

I don't even say much in there, because every other post is COMPLAINTS about the show. You'd swear that you guys needn't watch the show at all if you find that much to NOT like about it. But this thread isn't entirely about Who or BSG, it's about shows in general. And we all have varying opinions and I'm willing to respect that, no matter how different mine are.

PS: I just don't like too much importance placed on military, it's just something that's always sorta pissed me off in real life/on shows/comics/games/etc./etc. That's why I probably can't get as into as BSG as the rest of you guys.

Ah. I take it you were never a fan of Stargate SG-1? I mean, as far as military themes go, that's the only science fiction series I know of where the protagonists walked around alien planets in fatigues with modern P90 submachine guns.

I've never even seen any of the Stargate Franchise to begin with. It just never jumped out at me as something I wanted to watch.

Ah. Well, Stargate SG-1 was so military-centric, it made Battlestar Galactica look purely civilian based. And unlike Galactica, Stargate sorta glorified the military. For the first 8 or 9 seasons, the only civilian main characters were Dr. Daniel Jackson and Jonas Quinn (who was only there for season 6). It takes place in an underground military base. Civilian groups like the N.I.D. always come off as antagonists who only hold them back.

Trust me, if you had been watching Stargate SG-1 regularly beforehand, you'd be watching Galactica like "Wow, an effective presidential character who doesn't hide off-camera and impede the progression of the main characters' goals!"

Tru Blood, NCIS, Numbers, Greys Anatomy, ER, Without a trace, Gossip girl (I cant believe guys watch this ****).

The NID was the shadowy government conspiracy group that, in fact, employed its own paramilitary units. Like an anti-SGC. The civilian group that only held the military back was the IOA. All they seem to want to do is meddle in the SGC and Atlantis operations in just the right way to totally nerf the organizations' effectiveness. It's almost comical how out of touch they are.

Anyway, I never got into Chuck. I watched a few episodes early on and the humor seemed really forced. The two agents gave good performances, though.

American Idol - It's just overproduced karaoke, what's the big deal
Dancing with the Stars - These aren't stars, they're d-list "celebrities" hoping for the last gasp of fame

As for a show I didn't get into until it ended was Buffy and Angel, never gave these shows a chance during their first run, but caught them on reruns and thought they were great. Really wish I gave them a chance the first time around.

Sex and the city
Greys Anatomy
All reality shows (this does not include more documentary styled shows like Dirty Jobs)
E.R.
CSI
Sapranos
Arrested Development
Dark Angel

O_O

How dare you make such a mockery of the great Catherine Tate, DarthKush.

I'll admit the facial expression isn't exactly the best to capture her in though. :p

That's not your mother she's a man ,baby!
