I get the impression that it's less "nothing happens", and more "nothing that I wanted to see when the premise of the show was first announced happens". Because the last two episodes have been anything but slow, and anything but empty.
Also, I love a slow burn. Otherwise Lost wouldn't be my favourite show of all time. AND THAT PAID OFF SO WELL IN THE END.
Wait.
Eh... Don't throw me in that category.
I have no issue with the themes, ideas or concepts and again, hanging with the admiral is great. The peek at the post Nemesis stuff is good. I like space samurai elf guy. I like gruff "swarthy" Riker guy.
But the ground they covered in six could have been done much faster. And you gotta admit... The Cube stuff with Black Keys Romulan and android girl moves at a snails pace and isn't as interesting or compelling as the show thinks it is. And that makes up literally half of the show.
Best ep so far? While I liked the intro of the Romulan samurai the Freecloud ep was my fave. It at least moved the story more forward than it had been, was loose and fun... And we didn't go back to the Cube once.
Coincidence?
And that's an issue. The thing this is all supposed to be about, what we are supposed to be invested in, the truth behind this girl and what the Romulans are up to, that stuff brings most episodes to a screeching halt.
Like... The next four NEED to be great.
Good thing Capt. Riker and Troi are on deck.
Finally.
