Hark how the bells,
Sweet silver bells,
All seem to say,
Throw cares away
Reekmas is here,
Bringing good cheer,
To young and old,
Meek and the bold.
Ding dong ding dong
That is their song
With joyful ring
All caroling.
One seems to hear
Words of good cheer
From everywhere
Filling the air.
Oh how they pound,
Raising the sound,
O'er hill and dale,
Telling their tale.
Gaily they ring
While people sing
Songs of good cheer,
Reekmas is here.
Merry, Merry, Merry, Merry Reekmas,
Merry, Merry, Merry, Merry Reekmas.
This is so beautiful it made me cry. :-)

So I just had a terrifying experience while leaving work. I work outside at night and tonight I had to work over an hour and I was there by myself. I had a bad vibe that whole hour but I thought it was just stress. The whole nights been stressful. Well I finished my work and went and clocked out and was walking to my car. I usually park in a dark area between some stacks of lumber and the path from the building with the time clock to my car is an unlit path. I had my headphones in and was listening to an audiobook while walking to my car. Everything was fine but as soon as I got in the car and shut the door it sounded like something hit the back door's windshield. Like a hand. Which means either someone was walking behind me all the way to my car or they were standing in the shadows and I walked right by them. So I floored the gas and got out of there but I still had to go drive around and close some warehouse doors. By the time I closed the last warehouse door it felt like idk some bad ****ing juju was following me around. I havent been that scared in a long ****ing time.

Yikes, that's scary, glad you're ok. Probably a good idea to leave off the headphones when you're walking in a dark or sketchy area alone. When I'm getting off work, I always take mine off before entering the parking garage. Situational awareness can be a lifesaver.

We've had criminals hide on the lumber yard and pass through it multiple times because it's the perfect place to escape the cops at night. I'm usually aware or try to be aware about what's around me when I'm alone there at night, but I was careless tonight. Whatever or whoever this was tonight completely caught me off guard. In hindsight that's really all it takes. One moment of me crossing paths with the wrong person when I'm alone there at night. I carry one of those folding razor blade utility knives for work and protection, but a fat lot of good that would do me if I cant hear some creep walking up on me.

Usually the most dangerous thing I have to worry about leaving work is a deer running in front of me. Good idea to keep the headphones off and maybe have some self-defense training just in case. Maybe a can of mace too.

My employer actually allows night shift workers to conceal carry guns at work. I know one does, and I'm pretty sure some others on day and night shift probably have a gun in their glovebox. I've considered carryong one at work also, but frankly I'm skinny and have never found a concealed holster that ever felt comfortable and natural. Plus, I wear so many layers in the winter that adding a gun to my ensemble is a hassle I dont want. Not to mention I'd hate to have the thing fall out at work. Its allowed to carry one, but no one wants a pistol dropping out of someones britches which is sure as **** what would happen to me. My job requires me to move a lot and climb on machinery and that mixed with a pistol seems like a horrible idea.

But I do like the mace idea. I'll get some of that nuclear grade bear mace. :hehe:

PS. I sympathize with you about the deer. My drive to and from work takes me by woods and fields and those deer love to congregate and randomly cross the road. I've had some close misses with does and bucks.

My road is bad for deer. My old car got hit by one years ago (ran straight into my passenger side).

Pretty much what happened to my mom. She saw the deer running into the road at the last second but couldnt do much of anything except hit the poor animal. The front right quarter panel of the car caught its front legs and flipped and spun it down the whole side of her brand new 2017 Accord. Luckily it was still very much under warranty and just cosmetic damage. There wasnt even blood on the car or the deer.

This. :( I'd be way too paranoid to not want to hear. That and I always park where there is light and cameras.

What about a Taser? Or is that too much like a gun for you?

Carry a rubber chicken around at all times. Who's going to **** with a guy swinging a rubber chicken around at midnight? Nobody, that's who.

I carry around bear spray. One, because the town I live in is rampant with bear activity. There was one right up the steps from my place the other night. Huge black bear. And hungry.

Second, because bear spray will incapacitate any attacker in a heartbeat. And I know how to use my bear spray.

Do you have security camera coverage of your work place? If so request to see it in the areas you were in at that time.

Always take Agent 47 with you for every journey, there's your answer.

We have some cameras, but there are blind spots everywhere and where I was parked last night was out of the cameras view.

Cuz it looks cool. Flight, energy powers, being half alien? Reasonable. SFX hair? "I need some plausible explanation."
