Cool, thanks.

Well, that makes a little more sense. But why did the rainbow American Football rocket thing turn into a garbage truck in the first place? I mean I know why it turned into a garbage truck in terms of the joke, but what the hell was that thing?

It was the 1975 team Goranger attack.

[YT]WAVNIdQTunk[/YT]

The football turns into whatever they want(Egg,Garbage truck)

The attack was a homage to the first Super Sentai team

Just wondering but did you get tvnihon's Gokaiger episode one? Things make more sense when they're subbed. Personally i'd go and follow Gokaiger. It just started 4 weeks ago.

If you have ever watched the Goranger (the very first sentai team), you'll know that they have finishing attacks called the Goranger Storm and Goranger Hurricane. Goranger Storm is an attack where the Gorangers passing a silver ball like soccer, which eventually passed to Aka (Red) Ranger, who then kick to the villain and detonate him. Goranger Hurricane was the attack that Gokaigers used in the first episode, and that attack usually ended up transforming a grenade or missile into something weird, and it is then used to defeat the villain. It's a homage and tribute to the first sentai team.

Goranger Hurricane!

Holy **** that egg move was awesome! Thanks for the info, everyone so far. I must be pretty annoying with all my questions. But yeah, I got the episode from TVNihon, they put so much effort in their subs, it was awesome!

I think people expecting a more MATURE series were expecting too much.

Saban probably wanted the series to be more youth and kid appealing now that they had the property again instead of aging it up.

The only thing that really bothers me in the show is the constant puns and rhymes from the villains. Like they think they are underdog or something.

Just some friendly advice Raiden but your wording sounds a bit snobbish. We don't want to be accused of being Sentai snobs.

Gentleman Owl is only familiar with Power Ranger's at this moment.

It's very easy to turn to the dark side and think Sentai is superior. Even though Power Ranger's has gotten stale for me( I quit watching in 2004) I try to keep up with Power Rangers news but I've been watching Sentai since 2004.

So I play both sides.

So far Gokaiger has hit it out of the park with all 4 episodes so far

Power Rangers Samurai is sadly lacking. Ji is a terrible actor.

I'm just hoping I can enjoy RPM (which I have almost fully downloaded) when I'm watching Gokaiger at the same time.

Sorry, I probably should've rephrased that sentence. No offense, Gentleman Owl.

Ji is awful (do they really need Mentor Ji except trying to do the same thing as Shinkenger?), but I think the actor playing Kevin is the worst; he's so wooden and deliver lines as if he were reading the cue cards. Rest of the cast are slightly better, but not great.

None taken, I was just worried I was annoying being that I know so little about Super Sentai and you guys know so much.

and what's up with the Green Ranger in this?

The Green ranger( Don ) is the comic relief. What did you think of the legend war? It's even hit College humor.

http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1948831

Although I wish someone would upload the subbed version( I might just do it) I'm sure some people are scratching their heads at why all the teams were fighting. It irks me.

I did like the flashback, with Marvelous fighting on that thin bit of metal and getting saved by the original. So they don't even know what they are searching for? So how did he get his morpher and how was he able to fight without one? Plus he seems to have the ability to pull weapons from the hammerspace... I'll be interested to see how the team fit into the war and how they all come together. Since they seem like really good friends and very trusting team mates.

That aside I'm midway through the third episode now and I'm worried by how quickly this will get stale unless they pick up a more continus plot, rather than it being basically episodic. So far though, all the different Sentai with all their different moves and specials is keeping me more than entertained.

I think I may buy the whole Goseiger Hero series (Red, Black, Blue, Pink, Yellow) once my next paycheck hits. For all we know, BOA will screw up the U.S. release like they did with PRS.

Right that's three episodes of Gokaiger watched and loved. Leaving me a fourth one to enjoy on a rainy day while I wait for the fifth to come out. Now to watch a few episodes of RPM and see if I like that.

Navii their robot told them that earth has the ultimate treasure. Episode 1, they get involved with the bad guys because Marvelous didn't get to eat.

The person in the flashback is actually AkaRed. He debuted 5 years ago in a special.

Boukenger VS Super Sentai

Boukenger was the 35th anniversary.

AkaRed is a Red ranger that watches over all sentai past and present. He can change into past reds

If you look closely at episode 2 of Gokaiger, his chest emblem has been updated.

He gave Marvelous the chest of the ranger keys. He may have even given the gokaiger's their powers.

Wow, the Super Sentai universe sure is complicated, I had no idea you needed to know so much to understand what was going on. So AkaRed is like the God of Red Rangers/Sentai but has only just made an appearance five years back? How'd they make that make sense? And do the other colours have an 'Aka'? I guess it would make a lot of sense for him to be holding the rangers/Sentai powers and to be the one who brought the Gokaiger team together.

Also, just watched and really enjoyed the first episode of RPM. Off to watch the second in a second (arf) before bed. It's 4 am already? ****, I have a lecture at nine! Seems to have a lot more story than Gokaiger does (I know they aren't that related but they are just the two I'm watching right now). Also as a film student I get really impressed when they have things like a black red ranger and a scottish blue ranger (the blue rangers are always the most bad ass, second to the sixth ranger who was always my favourite), glad to see those American corporations are at least trying to hide their racism now. But what I don't get is how racing themed rangers fit into this post-apocalyptic story? Does it make sense as the show goes on or is it something I wasn't really supposed to question?

Gokaiger imo can either be a good introductory sentai series for new fans because they henshin into past sentai teams, or can be very nostagic for older fans. It'd be like a MLB All-Star game where present star players can henshin into Babe Ruth or Ted Williams, etc. As for plot, Gokaigers are still seeking the greatest treasure on Earth, not to mention their journey on becoming true heroes, not just pirates. I think these, coupling with the interesting personalities of the Gokaigers, are what made this series great thus far.

Most of the seasons are unconnected. There might be a reference to another series but it's not meant to be taken seriously

Akared was created for the Boukenger VS super sentai special.

AkaRed is a loner. He has no team.

"Aka" means Red so he's basically RedRed.

It's possible that when the 34 super sentai sacrificed their powers Akared went on the run from the empire.

For me, the show is presenting a nice mix of both. I'm learning a lot about the Sentai (mainly down to you guys :D) and yet at the same time they take some very nostalgic forms. It's really nice. However when compared to how RPM has been so far, Gokaiger has no plot at all. And I'm just worried fight scene after fight scene and little in between will eventually get to much. I'm just excited to see who the sixth ranger will be and how he'll fit into the story since the rangers can already take all the old ranger forms, regardless of colour. So I don't know how a sixth ranger could separate themselves from the team.

Unconnected? How did all the versions come together then? So Aka isn't actually some godlike figure then? He doesn't really fit anywhere out of his special?

Also just watched the second episode of RPM, Dillion is ****awesome. I hope he doesn't just become boring as soon as he becomes a Ranger as to not overshadow the red ranger. Although I was slightly urked by the fact that the rangers fight to protect the city and yet they were destroying just as many buildings as the enemy. But most series that I can remember did that. For defends of the Earth, the rangers sure have little regard for human life.

He's still a god overseer of all sentai. Which is why his emblem has been updated. He's going to come back somehow.

As for all the sentai coming together(even ranger's who are suppose to be dead) they just do.

That's the simplistic answer I can give without ruining the awesomeness of the legend war scene.

Toss logic aside and soak in every ranger in an all out battle.

As for Gokaiger's pace. It's usual for sentai series to have a string of focus episodes early on.

Now, there are a few key things to consider from this opening sequence. I mean, aside from the obvious fact that it rocks beyond measure. Typically speaking, the Sentai franchise does not maintain a single continuity for years on end. Every year is a completely new series with a new story, which often has nothing at all to do with the previous year. They don't even take place within the same world. Obviously, in the world of Gokaiger, we're throwing that idea out the window almost immediately, because we see every single headlining team the franchise has ever created standing in one spot.

But really, if you're majorly hung up on the logic of how these guys could all be alive and living on the same Earth, then you're seriously missing the point.

GokaiSilver (who hasn't been introduced yet) will be able to henshin into the sixth ranger that the core five could not, such as ShinkenGold, Go-On Gold & Silver, Abarekiller, etc. As I said, Gokaiger does have plot, but I have a feeling that you don't like the focus of the series thus far. You can check out other sentai series, if you want. I would recommend Shinkenger (as I already mentioned).

So we what, assume this is also in another universe entirely, where all the Sentai are connected and none of them have died?

Sounds interesting and meh, I'm enjoying the action so far, I'd just like to see a break for a bit of story. I'll give it a couple more episodes and if it still hasn't really had any story development I'll try a different Sentai series.

Sentai series are generally not connected, and are within their own continuity and universe, except for the annual Versus movie between two sentai series. I treat Gokaiger as the first sentai series that lives within the Versus universe. As for how the dead senseis came back in the Legends war, although it isn't explained I think the answer clearly lies with AkaRed, the mythological sensei of the Super Sentai universe. I believe AkaRed traveled between time and space continuum, to recruit both living and dead senseis, so they can battle to save humanity against the imperial fleet. That's why AkaRed also had all the keys of the sentai powers in that chest he gave to Capt. Marvelous. It's the most plausible explaination.

Sometimes you don't need to think too hard, just sit back and enjoy the series. In all the Rangers forums I visited, none have anything bad to say about Gokaiger yet.

It'd be a cool special to see Aka travelling to the different universes and times and recruiting the different Sentai ready for the war. And well, I guess I'm the first person to have a complaint about Gokaiger *shrug*.
