Jason David Frank already confirmed in an interview that he'll be using the green and white powers.

He also posted this picture from behind-the-scenes of the Legend War ep:

Others' mileage may vary, but
I don't think the Pirate motif needed to be acknowledged. They could've gotten some levity out of doing so, but the 'look' of these Rangers' powers has never been a plot point before and I see no reason why it needed to be now.

Well in Gokaiger, the whole thing was a quest to search out the treasure of the Ranger powers, hence the reasoning to why there was a Pirate motif and why it made sense. It's similar to Mystic Force for example in how there was a magical motif with their weapons and unique costume appearance as well as the overall plot and plot devices which make sense for the magical motif.

I'm not seeing that with Super Megaforce at the moment, it just seems like a cheap upgrade. But since Troy said [BLACKOUT]The Legendary mode is hard to maintain and then they go on quests to meet old rangers or significant people from the Wild Force, Jungle Fury or RPM to help them maintain and unlock the full power of the Legendary mode.[/BLACKOUT]

Megaforce is like Zeo in that the look, aesthetic, and motif of the Rangers' suits and powers isn't in any way important when it comes to the basic premise of the season, and the same holds true for their Super Mega Mode power-ups, which is why the motif of the corresponding Sentai really doesn't need to be in any way acknowledged within Megaforce itself.

Just watched the episode. I have tolerated Megaforce, but this is just too much. Probably one of the worst episodes ever. Everything was rushed as hell and no explanation was given at all.

I mean, Gosei seems to be witholding all kinds of **** from the rangers and no one seems to be bothered with that. And when someone DOES ask questions, it seems like Gosei's response is "BECAUSE I ****ING SAID SO". I mean, come on, what the hell is this?!

And what bothered me even more is the "Super mega"-thing they always seem so eager to say. As if it wasn't enough that they always said "mega" and occasionally "ultra" in Megaforce, now they're constantly saying "super mega this, super mega that"? Are you kidding me? "Super megarangers, that's a super mega win!". WHO EVEN WRITES THIS CRAP?!

Sure, Power Rangers always had its cheesiness, but this is just way too much. This season had the potential to be the best season ever, but they ruined it. Not only is there way too much cheesiness, but also Goseiger and Gokaiger cramped together in 20 episodes each is just ridiculous. I'm very disappointed.

Too bad they didn't make them interstellar pirates who want to steal all the ranger powers. That was kind of interesting to me.

It was interesting because the Japanese cast were like these alien misfit types who kind of become good people and decide to save the earth. Like they are thieves, but they are good thieves. I guess that's too extreme for kids TV today.

But isn't that a good lesson? That some people who had tough upbringing and become pirates through their experiences on earth decide to protect it and become heroes?

I have a feeling they're actually going to try with "Dino Charge"

From the synopsis it sounds original with the bounty hunter part.

Indeed. It could've been about change and retribution. That everybody has the ability to change and choose their own path, no matter how they were raised, no matter who their parents are, no matter what they have done in the past.

It could've been a real compelling story with previous rangers trying to guide them. But apparently Power Rangers is being written by 5-year-olds nowadays.

Agreed.

The story for it actually sounds very good, and is the most original/non formulaic (at least at first glance) that we've had since RPM.

And considering that they have finally caught up with the Sentai (once again being a series behind; as they were before Disney cancelled the series in 2009), I think its very likely that we will see a return to a 30-40 episode Season.

While it did give their writing team more time to plan the series, I doubt they'll want to fall behind once again.

yeah it was a pretty good episode for the most part. better than most of the megaforce episodes at least and better than what i expected.
* Good Recap from the Megaforce Season Finale. made me nostalgic for when PR used to do that
* Prince Vekar and Levira...liking the voices so far.The main villains already looks like an improvement over the previous New Saban/Saban brand since he actually gives orders to his minions and sounds like a leader and actually feels like a commanding presence(for now anyways i know his sentai counterpart was a whiny spoiled brat. Levira was an interesting appearance
-loved the callbacks to Mega Mission
-some of the dialogue was still clunky but really better than some of stuff last season
-"Jake, there's a simple explanation for that." [explosion]. Loved it. It's a shame the bad guys interrupted before Gosei could explain the random changes of colors to Jake but I feel like it's going to be recurring joke throughout the season
-theme song was better. still hate the actors announcing their Ranger teens names but the theme song was awesome. Wish they didn't use the Mighty Morphin remix for Samurai and hope they don't use it for Dino Charge. I wish there was more original songs.
-the morphs was fantastic. I thought the switch from Megaforce to Super Megaforce was pretty good. I love how they incorporated the Disney morphing calls when they changed. I can understand not doing it for SPD and Ninja Storm due to those being quickish morphs. Hope there is more of that.
I liked the transition of the XX logo forming the spandex, jacket, then wrapping around to form the helmet. The transition from Sentai to American footage was tighter and smoother than I anticipated, the score was decent. I LOVED the fact they say the original morphing calls in order to morph in place of "Gokai Change", the helmetless Ranger scenes are always enjoyable to me.
-The Legendary Red Ranger mode moment was awesome as well. I think they did a good job in blending the original footage of the Red Overdrive Ranger into the Gokaiger footage in which we saw the morphs of Red Wild Force, Samurai, Mystic, and Jungle Fury rangers. This was actually a good way to start the season as we get to see how the process of transforming into the Legendary rangers work in Power Rangers, especially for those unfamiliar with Gokaiger or anything Sentai-related.
-Troy was kicking ass and taking names. Actually they all were. They were heroic
- Another great addition is the added line of legendary mode being hard to maintain. That's a great reason for why they can only hold onto it for less than a minute or so when they morph to them, and why they would keep switching it. In Gokaiger it was to be flashy, in this it's a lot more sense., I'm glad that they DIDN'T change into the MMPR. People rip on the series for trying to be an MMPR copy, and changing into them would have caused complaints too. It seems like they might be trying to save the MMPR transformation for later on in the series, which I like. I completely understand why they went with the Samurai suits, and despite my opinions of that season, the Samurai change was totally the right choice.
-like they used the dialogue to mask the differences between Jake's attitude and fighting still to that of Doc's added some style to his bizarre antics and made it better and show him having fun with his new powers. like that HE requested the guns rather than waiting for Red to give the orders like Doc would do.
- I hope the kids that Noah interacted with can reappear throughout the show instead of being one off characters.
- fight scenes were awesome, of course credit should go to Gokaiger for that, but still some of PR's best fight choreography.
- the ending scenes with Mr. Burley were pretty much forced and out of nowhere, and I wish we could see more cameos from teachers. The Speech at the end from the teacher was kind of cool and a good callback though
- funniest one being from the last commander: At least it took five teams to beat me! and the identity crisis joke
- like Troy's ending where Roboknight is. It's funny to see him skipping class. Giving him a little more rebellious and loner streak since he is kind of like that in the first season.

Con
-Rush. But what do you expect when you use footage from two different episodes.
-wish we got more of an explanation for the morphers
-Some slight hiccups with lines
-So much talking. Some of it was good but some of it was unnecessary.
-still hate the Super Mega thing. It got annoying half way through.

While it wasn't the best Power Ranger episodes, it was pretty good for the most part and worked more than most of the Samurai-Megaforce era episodes and it exceeded my expectations so far(I am a big fan of Old Saban and Disney era Power Rangers episodes). While it still had some flaws and it was pretty good for the most part. I'll watch it again next week too.

*Bear in mind that I haven't seen a full Power Rangers episode in 10 years after Dino Thunder.

I have seen snippets of each season afterward and know that things have progressively gotten worse. RPM looked decent. I checked it out for the Go-Onger reference.*

With that said on to Super Megaforce. What. The. Hell?

Is this how things are now? Unexplained and rushed pieces tied together with Sentai footage?

"Why am I green?"

"No time to explain that! Go!"

For someone with no ass Gosei sure loves pulling things out of it.

"Ranger's here are new morphers! Ranger's here are new zords! Don't ask where they came from!"

Troy- Awesome!

Ofcourse there's the unnecessary chatter in battle to keep kids attentions

Looks like they kept the star burst attack name for Legendary Megazord.

This needed two episodes to build up to. There was no excitement and no tension to things. It was just "here you go"

"Super Megaforce" should have had the rangers struggle in episode 1 and then Gosei presents the Legend powers"

I miss the build up like Zeo Rangers

Agree. Zeo was one of my favorite season. It had a lot of good episodes, great costumes and good setup to getting the powers. I agree Super Megaforce should have set up the results of the invasion and destruction around the world in a 2 or 3 part episode but this was pretty good for the most part.

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I wish Tommy was coming back with his MMPR White Ranger powers instead of his MMPR Green Ranger powers. Mainly because White Ranger costume has a neater design to it.

I feel the same but I wish we saw Tommy in his Red Zeo Ranger/Zeo Ranger 5 or Black Dino Thunder Ranger form or a morpher that's allows him to turn into any of his previous 5 ranger modes. I hope we can see the Super Megaforce transform into all 5 of Tommy's previous modes. That would be awesome.

Well from promotional images the gun is still there. Maybe they'll point it into the sky.

They'll probably get rid of ALL the samba parts. Except for Carnival

This is much better, and much cooler than the Train series. can we just skip to this?

I'm really looking forward to Dino Charge. At first I didn't like the costumes, but they've grown a lot on me. I also like how both green and black are in the line-up.

Still, too bad they won't be adapting Go-Busters. It looked like it could've been a very interesting season.

I thought about Dino Charge. You know with Dino Thunder, they brought back Tommy. Have you thought about who they should bring back for DC? I was thinking along the lines of Saban bringing back Karone to be the Purple ranger.

A bit of a wording confusion. Kyoryuger is before ToQger. So technically we won't be skipping Kyoryuger.

Also here is the hand off from Kyoryuger to ToQger. They've been doing the "passing of the torch" scene since 2004. Youtube it

If they were to bring back someone for Dino Charge, even if it's only for a few episodes, I would prefer it to be someone from MMPR or Dino Thunder, you know, the other dinosaur-based seasons.

I'd prefer it if they didn't bring back Tommy, Adam or Kira though. They already returned (multiple times) in the previous seasons and Tommy will be seen in Super Megaforce as well. I'd like someone else to get a chance.

I would love to see Walter Jones (Zack) come back. Jason would be amazing, but Austin St. John is ridiculously out of shape and I think he's probably too busy being a paramedic and all. David Yost as Billy would be cool, but I don't think he'd do it. Same for Amy Jo Johnson as Kimberly, sadly enough. It would already be freaking amazing if either Billy or Kimberly had a cameo. Steve Cardenas (Rocky), Karan Ashley (Aisha) or Catherine Sutherland (Kat) would be nice as well, but I'd prefer someone from the original 5.

Connor, Ethan and Trent are also welcome of course.

It strikes me as being more than just coincidence that Dino Thunder was specifically mentioned in the Dino Charge press release, and if they do attempt to make a connection between the two seasons, Tommy is the most logical person to use to do so even though I did not like how OOC he was portrayed in DT.

As for someone else returning from DT, we already know what happened to Conner, Ethan, and Kira in their post-Ranger lives, which rules out them returning, but Anton, Elsa, Hayley, Trent, Cassidy, and Devin could be used in lieu of Tommy, although, as noted, he still remains the obvious choice.

Actually, there was a picture from not long ago of Austin St. John looking in much better shape because he joined the army. Its been a while since I read about it, but I think if he could come back, then he wouldn't be too bad.

Yes that would be very cool.......and I'm still holding out hope that Go-Busters will show up eventually somehow. C'mon secret agents meets Power Rangers; how could that be bad? (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. anyone?)

The 2nd quarter catalog cover finally leaks out a few weeks after we saw the whole catalog already.

Who of the past rangers will be the 6th mystery black ranger?
