After watching The Descent for the first time last night, it made me think of how awesome it would be to have a lady going up against a predator. Especially one of the two leads from that film, they were badass.

I ask this again... Is the fact that we the Predator has not been so thoroughly defined, that he still has a lot of what I call that Wolverine mystique, that air of mystery, has this hurt the franchise or has this been a factor in the Predator being some what popular? Because the audience gets a crumb of information about this alien in each film? Or am I just as touched in the head as Noland?

Eh, that would get old. Every movie has the same formula where the first half is a group of people who have no idea what's hunting them.

I want a Predator movie where we take the hunt to the Predator. No more "What was that?" setup for the plot.

Meh! It's been done (Predator 2 was set in 1997, but came out in 1990). It wasn't far into the future, but it was set in the future none the less. And constantly going farther and farther into the future is just so cliche and predictable. Still, maybe just ONE sequel set 100 years in the furure or so might be cool, if it's well written.

Predator would be great as an anthology series on HBO. We don't get much of those kind of shows these days. One week we see a story of a Predator in a modern city hunting a serial killer the law is after. Another episode is about old japan and a Samurai must team with a ninja sent to kill him against the alien hunter. Then a story of Zulu warriors on a manhood ritual under attack, ect. Get a mix of young and hungry writer/directors and affordable veterans. 1hr runtime. Just and idea I have always thought would work for this franchise.

It's too bad they scrapped the AVP novels with Noguchi in them. That would have been a great female lead right there.

I wonder if that would ever work. I think the first AvP Movie ruined that idea completely.

That's partly why I was disappointed with the movie. Other than the obvious flaws in it, they completely screwed up the potential from the books.
