Just came across this teaser poster

is it just called THING. Being a prequel, it hasn't earned the article 'THE' yet?

Thank god someone laughed. I dont usually find my jokes all that funny...but I was ****ing rolling with that one.

And I really did laugh. Seriously though I think that this movie is just going to be another A Nightmare on Elm Street remake/prequel.

The filmmakers are going to promise they understood the appeal of the first film and promise the movie is really serious and great and then it's going to come out, get terrible reviews, open decently then fall off the face of the earth.

^ I hope not....but you're probably right. I honestly lost a lot of faith after that one. We were promised so much....but none, and I mean NONE of it was true.

If they promised a travesty of cinema I wouldn't have had a problem but well...they didn't.

I have just hated almost all of the remakes. The only one I didn't hate and actually like better than the original is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I dug the Friday one. Mainly because they actually created half decent, and pretty realistic characters. Some would disagree...but as a young person, everyone was spot on...lol.

Even if they were good filmmakers, they'd promise the same "thing". In any case, nobody should really expect any scenario. Just wait to see what happens. This isn't like these are the same people (outside of one writer, whose script was rewritten) responsible for A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Mary talked a little more about the film in a new interview with Collider:

For fans of the original and for people that don’t know the original, how will this film tie together?

Winstead: It’s a true prequel. So if you’ve seen the original and if you’re familiar with it there going to be things that stand out that will make you go “Oh. Now that makes sense why that happened in the original” and then it sort of goes back and explains certain things, especially about the Norwegian base that you see in the original film. That’s all kind of explained in this like how you find a dead body and then you find out who that guy is. It also matches up directly. In the end, we’ll seamlessly go into the original and so you can watch them back-to-back and they’ll match up perfectly. For people who haven’t seen the original, it stands alone as a great piece of science-fiction-horror-action and hopefully that will really connect with people who don’t know anything about the John Carpenter version but I think it will work for both kind of people.

One of the things that is striking about the original is the tone and the pacing. How is this film going to be similar in pacing and tone or is it going to be a modern kind of fast cutting thing?

Winstead: I think it’s very similar in pacing and tone. Some of the actors were talking about how it starts off as a drama, kind of goes into a horror film, kind of goes into a sci-fi film, and then kind of goes into an action film at the end. It slowly builds into being bigger and bigger with its momentum. It takes awhile for things to really start kicking in. I mean you get time to get to know the characters and also time for that paranoia to grow, which is the really important thing. Just not knowing who is a thing and who isn’t and who you can trust and who you can’t. So before it all starts coming out and people start dying all over the place you need that suspense to build and I think that’s all really in this film as well.

Oh, my God. This is what always happens. Took the words out of my mouth. Spot on. :woot::up:

Yeah, yeah. The cast and writers and director and producer can talk all they want about how much they loved the original and they're sticking true to it, and all that, but usually, they've always said this and guess what? It didn't matter because the movie ended up being **** anyway.

I also get the strong feeling that this will just be a love letter to the original. I think they're gonna try too hard to recapture the feel of the original, and it's gonna blow up in their faces.

"We're big fans of the original." they always say that.

At least Platinum Dunes isn't making it. Strike Entertainment is involved, and they produced Dawn of the Dead and Slither. I loved those movies.

I liked the remake of Dawn of the Dead, so that's good news. But I still have a bad feeling about this.

Which translates to, "Despite this, we still don't know how to make a good horror movie. But we loved the original as kids! Doesn't that mean something?"

Strike dissapeared for a while and that had me worried. I like their intro. No 'Strike Pictures' or productions. Just 'Strike'.

That movie didn't do so well so maybe they have trying to recover from it.

Never seen Slither. Had ero interest in it when it came out. Maybe it was because I was too young to care. But I still remember the footage and thought it looks bad.

I loved Dawn of the Dead 2004, but didn't care for Slither.

I'm still very interested in this movie.
