I'm a newly converted fan, finished POP and currently on warrior within, to follow with two thrones.

I liked the characters in the first...Prince was funny and humerous, and his relationship with Farah was very interesting and actually moved me. I loved the ending.

The second so far, gameplay wise and art direction, I prefer...I love the whole gothic-middle eastern setting and designs, and the fighting is far superior, and the acrobatics have more to t hem...I just wish they didn't drop the previous voice actors, and the prince's sense of humour.

any other fans?

I didnt finish through the 3rd but out of the first 2, I prefrred the original. I didnt like the direction its sequel took and it didnt have the awe factor or the same feel. It was too dark and I hated the music that went along with it. Felt less like an adventure

I'd have to say that I prefer the Warrior Within out of them all. Much dark, plays with the Prince in many different ways and throws the player around like a nut bag. I cannot believe how many times while playing Warrior Within the twists and turns got me.

Jams, you're in (heh heh urine) the desolate wastelands of the hype game boards, 2 replies is good. :(

I LOVE these games. I seriously remember being jawdropped at how awesome Sands of Time was. it was one of the first games I played when I got my PS2 (yeah, took me a while).

between the story, gameplay, and the whole fairy-tale/adventure feel to it, it turned out to be one of the games that most surprised me in its awesomeness.

wasn't too fond of Warrior Within. the gameplay had improved somewhat (the fighting, specifically), but I just couldn't get into it because of the changes. the whole dark, edgy vibe felt WAY too artificial, the Prince became an a$$hole out of a B action movie ("You b!tc#!"? "Is that the best you can do?"? seriously?), and the whole "I'm so badass" attitude that permeated the entire game was just too in your face and too unbearable to really enjoy its qualities. plus the music. ugh.

my thoughts exactly. I felt WW tried to hard to be cool and badass. The series was alright as it was

I LOVE all 3 games in the series. The third installment just slightly edges out the 1st game.

I don't understand the hate on the 2nd game. How would you act if you were being chased by death for what? 7 years? Would you be smiling and cracking jokes? Or would you become a no bull **** kinda guy?

Each of the games have their place, and I can't wait for the next generation prince to come out.

Best thing anyway has ever said in defense of Part 2. Thanks.

I get that, and it wouldn't be that much of a problem if he hadn't turned into an run of the mill B action movie wannabe, spewing such golden lines as "Is that the best you can do?" and "You b!tch!", surrounded by f***in Godsmack music (yeah, cause nothing says Persia more than that).

it all just felt like a very artificial and way too in-your-face change of direction from the charismatic witty Prince from the first. it'd be fine if it were a change for the better, but the character became pretty difficult to like.

word.

plus, how great was the ending of the trilogy? i actually just finished it a few days ago, and wow... it was actually pretty brilliant. i won't spoil it, but man, it was good.

like I said, the change was too drastic. They tried too hard to be cool and WW lost the appeal and magic that the first game had bc of it. I hated the rock inspired music and the dark tone of it all.

I wanted to hear Voodoo. :( But the songs I did get were pretty awesome and they provided very good instrumentals. :)

Overall my favorite game. The other 2 were a tad bland. I jus played 1 to get to 2 really. The entire reason I got into the series in the first place was Warrior Within and commercial with "I Stand Alone" blaring in the background with the prince twirling swords and surrounded by thugs. :)

I hated Warrior Within because you had to go back and forth. I remember I went the wrong way and couldn't get out without dying so I had to start a new file. I never finished Two Thrones.

Also WW was filled with glitches. I remember there was one glitch where a ladder didnt appear and I had to restart the game over from a save hours before. Thats another reason why I got pissed off at the game

Yeah it is getting really confusing, I'm trying to activate the second tower and the map is useless...

Funny. I got that same glich in TT. The ladder was there but it was like it was invisible.

I finished the second, and am on the third- the third is easily my favourite. It's like they took the best bits from one (the characters farah and prince, and the same voice actor, and the humour, and the arabian setting) and two (the combat and general game play, the more gothic art direction) and combined it. It's my favourite so far, and it doesn't seem to have the same amount of backtracking I disliked about two. Really glad I brought this set.

if you got chaised by a big demon like thing you'd be serious too

I'm almost at 80% of the SOT then I'll move on to WW and finally TT

I loved the trilogy but I never understood why there was so much hate for Warrior Within. I fell in love with the Persian-Rockish soundtrack which utterly kicked ass. It was an understandable tone. The guy's being hunted by an unstoppable creature who wants to kill him. If that doesn't make a prick out of you, you're either Ned Flanders or Jesus. It was symbolic.

That being said, while I loved the artistic direction of T2T I was utterly disappointed by how much Ubisoft wanted to out do God of War. Really, God of War owes quite a bit of its origins to PoP, (David Jaffa was apparently a fan of SOT) and PoP's platforming elements were its signature. The combat wasn't SO clanky and unenjoyable but I really don't think adding elements like Speed Kills or the brief instances as the Dark Prince were necessary. And T2T was surprisingly short. The elimination of backtracking can be attributed to that.

I'm hoping PoP4 is as good as its predeccesors. According to WHF, the new PoP franchise wants to develop the same artistic feel as Team Ico's Shadow of the Colossus. Can't wait.

POP TSOT: Great game, not very challenging until the last battle but still great.

POP WW: Not so great. I found the rock and roll music to be very misfitted in an Persian setting, the blood was ok but didn't wow me, the action was ok but not very challenging, the time control wasn't fun for me this time, and the weapon changing was lame.

POP TTT: Haven't played and probably won't. Who am I kidding? I'll buy it one of these days.
