OH MY GOD! I knew not to believe these stupid rumors, Playstation 3 games are not going to cost 75-80 like most said. They mis understood, Kutaragi said he would never have the games cost that much and people thought he was saying thats how much they would cost.

They are going to cost 59.99 like most games, still no word on a price drop but hey maybe they'll change their minds?

ACTUALLY, WHAT WAS MISQUOTED, WAS WHAT GAMES WOULD COST THAT MUCH, AND WHERE. JUST LIKE WITH THE PRICE DROP ANNOUNCEMENT, THAT INFO WAS MEANT FOR JAPAN ONLY, BUT IT WAS REPORTED AS EVERYWHERE. ALSO, MOST OF THE 3RD PARTY TITLES ARE THE ONLY 'PS3' TITLES TO BE CONFIRMED AS $60; PRESUMABLY, SOME OTHER TITLES WILL COST QUITE A BIT MORE, DEPENDING ON CONTENT.

IT WAS AN OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT.......FROM 'TGS' ; THEY FOLLOWED THAT UP WITH CONFIRMATION, AND CLARIFICATION THAT IT WOULD ONLY BE IN JAPAN.

They also said "as of right now" or something along those lines.

Sounds like a major bargain (if Blu-Ray is what they say it is) and if this price cut follows through to the US of A (most likely it will).

A better machine all around than the 360, and cheaper than the 360 launch price. Backwards compatibility to boot, go Sony.

Suppposedly if they get enough complaints in the United States they will lower the price. The Gamestops over in Japan said the PS3 was costing way to much and would be bad for bussiness, they then sent letters of complaints from fans to Sony. Since there was so much complaing they lowered the price.

However none of that has happened in the United States, Gamestop over here hasn't said anything about the price and really we live in American where everyone tries to make to much profit from their product like making a fridge for 300 and selling it for 500.

Gamestop and other retailers haven't complained so Song says they are comfortable with releasing it at that price in the U.S.

The problem is most Americans are idiots. Most would buy it even if the PS3 was at $1,000. If you ask me Microsoft is forcing Sonys hand now anyway in making the PS3 cheaper. Since the 360 & the HD-DVD External Drive together is $100 dollars cheaper then the PS3. The only hope any Sony Bastard has for a price cut is if Sony responds to what Microsoft is doing with their HD-DVD drive & makes the PS3 cheaper. But I doubt they care enough in the U.S. to even bother

That wasn't me who made the statement Thats what someone was told at TGS and reported it and then one of the guys on PS3 e-mailed them and said I want a price cut and Sony said "We'll have this go through managment."

Surprisingly that strategy has worked. Notice how so many people b***hed about the boomerang Playstation 3 controller and now we have the original design back which most people wanted. Notice how in Japan the people b***hed about the price to where Sony dropped the price to a reasonable one. If we do the same thing in America, it'll probally work.

If you ask me we should not have to. I am with THWIP if Sony cared they would have made it more affordable right from the start. So **** Sony & I am not wasting my time complaining to them. I think it is a stronger message when Sony sees the #s of PS3s rather then people wasting their time complainign to a company that did not care to begin with.
