Ps5 vs. Series X/S: Which next gen system are you leaning more towards?

Which next gen console are you leaning more towards purchasing?

Eh. You're the first one using this bias card and how should I react? Also Cuphead/Quantum were released on pc the same day ormonth as Xbox.... they aren't exclusives. While you can a google of a post of mine where I said, I would be interested in playingSunset overdrive and maybe Gears of War if I got a Xbox. So I'm not trashing xbox games fyi. But again,Sonyhave way more eXclusives that interest me and theyare known for having more exclusives. No need to dig up a short list of xboX exclusives. While the other poster just proved the point that a lot of their eXclusives don't even have a follow up. So tell me, I'm wrong?

And yes,Xbox does have poor sales, xbox 1, you can look itup.

I'm not being bias at all but you are and you know it.

I dont need to look up you trashing MS/Xbox most of the time as I remember it already.

They are exclusives are far as consoles goes and that's what I'm talking about and not including PC.

Doesn't matter when those games were released. They were still good.

I don't care about sales and never brought it up and so don't know why you're bringing that up.

Again, I support both consoles and companies so yeah whatever.

PS's exclusives are always talked about and yes they're great in quality and quantity but some make it seem like Xbox doesn't have any good franchises at all. I don't have a PC and so they're exclusives to me.

Halo
Gears of War
Forza
Dirt
Fabled
Killer Instinct
Crackdown
Ori
Okay so I looked up these titles againto be sure....

Crackdown 3 and Killer Instinct 2013 were released on Pc at the same time as Xbox One. Crackdown 3 didnt get good reviews. There's an upcoming Dirt game for Ps5. The last Ori wasn't eXclusive but now exclusive to Xbox? So its similar to the upcoming Senua game, assuming they don't come out in pc. But neither of these titles don't interest me.

So that leaves Fable- Fable 3 which was exclusive for XboX for a year I'm not even goingto look up Gears of War, Forza and Halo as I've already said my thoughts about those games. So what are the Ps fangirls like me missing out exactly?

Do they have games like Uncharted, Spider-Man, Last of Us, Ghosts of Tsushima, Horizon, God of War coming up?

I didn't trash Microsoft. When did I trash Microsoft? I am a loyal Microsoft PC owner, fyi.

Also, my negative thoughts about Xbox is directed to Xbox One (not 360 and their first console). And I simply don't think Xbox Series X have the upper hand against ps5 due to the last Xbox. And I did watch the last Xbox live stream before the ps5 live stream and imo, Series X doesn't look promising at all. I'm not trashing it just for the sake of being a ps fan girl. I actually looked it up what they are selling and I'm not sold.

Yes directed at just Xbox One but you constantly put them down any chance you and obviously make a issue for anyone sticking up for them at all

I did say the smaller Xbox Series X looks cute and never called the new console ugly. I don't know if youve been to other sites, but Xbox has been the punching bag of the gaming community for a couple of years now. Actually I'm pretty fair, regarding my thoughts about Xbox. I'm mostly speaking to what interest me as a gamer, while things like predicting their demise is based on poor sales, which are out there online available to read.

Anyway, enjoy your new Xbox later this year.

Putting aside the whole Xbox/PC exclusivity issue, it is possible Xbox will have AAA exclusives (again, on both Xbox and PC) from its 1st party studios to rival those of Sony. If those are in the works, then they MUST be shown at the upcoming July event.

But it is a fair and legit criticism towards the Xbox One generation. Aside from the mainstays of Halo, Gears, and Forza, they have NOT had their own equivalent Uncharted, Spider-Man, Last of Us, Ghosts, Horizon, or God of War. Not even major 3rd party exclusives like a Final Fantasy VII Remake or Persona 5.

MS/Xbox has totally and utterly dropped the ball on exclusives this past gen. There's no denying, questioning, or sugar coating that. Which is why it has been a frustrating time for Xbox fans, like myself, and why many of us have almost switched exclusively to Sony/Playstation.

Xbox has one last shot at their July event to impress fans and try to win us back. But, it's going to be a tall order.

And the list of PlayStation's eXclusives that I haven't played yet is probably longer than the current "eXclusives" of XboX One. I have no interest in playing Days Gone, Gran Turismo, Persona, Demons Souls, Boodborne, Killzone, Rachet and Clank, Until Dawn, the Ragdoll game and Infamous at the moment and yet I still managed to play like more than a dozen Ps eXclusives.

Sounds like $70 games could be coming next gen.

Oh right. Where did you see/hear that?
pricing for NBA 2K21 was revealed today, and next-gen standard versions cost $69.99.
check the PS5 and Series X threads for the link.

I'll be sticking to EA Access and PS Now or Xbox Gamepass and just getting even fewer new games a year

Oh ok, thanks. I’m not going to be getting many games day 1 anyway with the 10 year backlog I have to catch up on. I guess game price inflation hasn’t really been that high since I was a kid, and in the meantime we are getting some absolutely huge (expensive to create) games compared to the simple ones back then.

mS doesn't need to have an "equivalent" to Uncharted, Spider-Man, TLOU, GoT (which isn't even out yet), Horizon or goW. Just like Sony doesn't need to have an "equivalent" to Halo, GoW, Sea of Thieves, Fable, or Cuphead. All they need is competitive exclusives. I know what you mean when you say equivalent but if either mS or Sony tried to do that then they might just come off as trying to rip the other IPs off if it's too similar a concept. The only reason why mS bought a year's worth of exclusivity of ROTR was just to have that Uncharted "equivalent".

Honestly man in this part of your post you make it sound like you're speaking for the entire Xbox community, when you say things like "many of us" or "win us back." I've never even owned an Xbox and I am considering the Series X for completely different reasons. Also don't forget about the poll of 50K votes that I posted on the second page of this thread where 37% of people voted that price is the most important thing in determining which new next generation console to purchase, and the least popular choice was exclusive games.

Also on a side note, why is everybody randomly capitalizing the X in exclusive? It's madd jarring. What is the point of it?

On another side note, can we please have a mod reopen this thread ---> So, why are we still paying 60 dollars for games?

I believe the topic has become relevant again with recent news.

An "equivalent" to the likes of Horizon, God of War, etc... clearly means high profiled 3rd person games that would attract the masses and convince the gp to buy their console. They don't need to be eXactly a clone of those Sony games as you'd have people complaining about the lack of originality.

Anyway, the new Halo is delayed fornext year which isn't good news for the new Xbox. Given the success of Xbox One, they should be launching the successor with one of their flagship titles and thats not happening anymore. As a ps player it doesn't concern me but looking at the state of xbox, this is not a good look for them especially the game was originally intended to be released in the Xbox One. The ps5 doesn't have tons of highprofiled eXclusive launch titles as well. I'm a bit iffy to the fact that Miles Morales is an obvious smaller scaled game than the 2018 Spider-Man game as I finished the game in like 2 weeks, but the upcoming game is at least generating hype for the ps5. Plus Spider-Man being a ps5 eXclusive in the new Avengers game is another blow to the Series X. Even with the multiplatform games, they are losing out. I can't really imagine more are gonna buy thenew Xbox over the new ps, over these things unless the person is a Xbox loyalist or just not into superhero games.

As for the launch price, I hope we get it/them this month. I didn't know the ps4's launch price was $399 which isn't far from its current price. So I'm hoping the ps5 is only $50 more expensive. Better if its just $399. We are in a middle of the pandemic, and the price would really be a huge factor, well at least forthefirst few years of the upcoming gen of consoles.

I think $399 for the disc-PS5 and the Series X is the sweet spot to aim for. Of course, with the digital PS5 and the Series S existing, it's possible those consoles could occupy the $399 spot, with the higher end consoles at $499.

I think anything above $499, especially with the pandemic situation going on, will be suicide and pretty much guarantee that console will be DOA at launch. Even $500 is a tough sell in this environment, but $600 would be WAY too expensive.

on the topic of this thread, at this point, I'm still leaning towards PS5. With the recent Halo delay news, and with games like Everwild, Avowed, and Fable being potentially several years away, there's even less reason to be excited for the Series X, especially now at launch. And even with those future games, my trust and confidence in Xbox has diminished so much in the past few years that I've kind of lost interest and care for the Xbox. So, if I'm choosing only one console, I'm sticking with Playstation.

However, I must admit, my overall hype, excitement, and desire to purchase the PS5 or a next-gen console at launch has waned recently. Especially as I'm hearing more and more that major 3rd party titles, like AC and Cyberpunk, won't be getting next-gen versions or the free next-gen upgrade patches until 2021. If that's the case, why should I buy those games now to play on my new PS5? I'll just wait until 2021 when I can enjoy those games in their full next-gen glory. So, 3rd party wise, that's less of a reason to upgrade to next-gen now this year.

Guilty Gear Strive was supposed to release later this year. But that's been delayed to "early" 2021, with a PS5 version confirmed.

Are Kena, Ratchet, and Gran Turismo going to be PS5 launch titles or release this year? If not, and if those are 2021 titles, again, why not just wait until next year to get the PS5?

The one factor that could still convince me to preorder and get a PS5 at launch is the possibility of this console shortage due to the pandemic extending into early 2021. Normally, there are shortages during the first few months of launch. That's to be expected. However, this pandemic is disrupting the supply chain more than normal, and there are shortages of PS4s, Xboxs, and Switches this late in the current cycle.

So, if there's a chance that will continue into next year, then I may want to preorder and get the PS5 at launch mainly to secure a console now in case it will be hard to buy one next year when those early 2021 titles start releasing.

sorry for the belated reply.......haha.

When I'm talking about "equivalent" exclusives, I'm talking more about exclusives that look and "feel" AAA and high-quality. I'm not saying they have to be the same kind of games as the Sony exclusives. And I'm not saying every exclusive has to be AAA. But they should at least be high-quality AA titles, like Ori. You need a diverse offering of both high-quality AA and AAA exclusive titles, imo.

And when I'm posting my thoughts and opinions, of course I am speaking for myself as a frustrated former Xbox owner. I know I'm not speaking for everyone and that there are plenty of Xbox owners who are happy and satisfied. However, I do know I'm not alone in how I feel about Xbox and there are other Xbox owners (former or otherwise) who share my sentiments and have become frustrated with the direction Xbox has been going on.

Yeah, a fair amount of my excitement for jumping straight into next gen has gone down after the shows.

so far, the thing that has sold me the most on next-gen has been that Unreal 5 tech demo. THAT'S the game I want to play........haha. Which makes it even more frustrating knowing it's a tech demo that probably will never become a real game. :(

And since that demo was shown running off of a PS5, by association, that upped my excitement for the PS5. I think that's when my leanings really started shifting towards the PS5. If they had shown that tech demo on the Series X, I would be more excited for the power of that console.

Speaking of which, I don't think we've even seen any next-gen gameplay or trailer that has specifically said it's been captured running on a Series X. Which is crazy if you think about and yet another mark against MS/Xbox. The only thing I can think of were those brief clips showing how load times on OLD games were improved running on the Series X.

At least that UE5 tech demo was said to be running directly off of a PS5, and Sony in their June show made it a point to highlight that everything after GTAV was captured directly off of a PS5.

The UE5 tech demo and that small Hellblade 2 glimpse from ages ago are the only 2 things I've seen that gave any hint of next gen. The shows were very disappointing on that front. It seems like business as usual for a few years before we see anything that pushes things further as some of the games that don't even look all that impressive are what will be coming out over the next couple of years. I was hoping for more given how slowly this current gen has moved in terms of improvements. At least the tecj demo gives a hint of what will be possible in future, no matter how far that future might be.

I actually do want some equivalent games as some of the best PS exclusives are in underserved (IMO) genres that are right up my street. God of War especially, and then Uncharted and Horizon. I want games like that, mythology, action-adventure Tomb Raider style etc.
