I found most of the season annoying with Shawn's overly exaggerated antics. Don't get me wrong, I like goofy Shawn but he seems to be going way overboard which took me out of the show.

But the season finale was awesome! It went back to the humor it had in the past and the quality the show is capable of. Everything worked in this episode, from the acting to the story, and the development. It should be noted that James Roday not only directed this episode but he also co-wrote it, and he did a fantastic job.

I'm sad [BLACKOUT]to see Abigail go.[/BLACKOUT] I thought she was good in the show and nice to look at also.

I was somewhat confused by the ending though. It looked like that was [BLACKOUT]Shawn[/BLACKOUT] in the picture with Yang. If that is the case then what is his connection to Yang and who the hell is Yin?
Could Shawn be Yang's son and Yin is his stepsister (I'm saying sister to continue with the duality theme)?

I was also wondering why isn't Shawn's mom in any of the flashbacks? Did his parent's get divorced when he was very young or is there something else?

It certainly looked like young Shawn in that picture, but that doesn't sit right. Shawn has a photographic memory as does Henry. Neither would forget Yang. However, she isn't Shawn's mother. We've already met Shawn's mom in season 3. She isn't in the flashbacks as every flashback focuses on Shawn and Henry whose relationship is a major subplot of the show.

I was impressed with last nights episode. While I love the show, I can't say that I've ever felt any sense of suspense, but last night I did. Especially with Mary's scenes. I wouldn't mind if Yin became some kind of ongoing villain for Shawn, I want to see it played with more and have the mystery of his identity built up. I just hope they don't botch it like they did with Monk's "Big" mystery.

What the hell was with the ending scene?

Yeah, I loved this episode. But I was confused. Who the hell is Yin? At first I assumed the kid was Yin with Yang. But then I saw what looks to be a young Shawn with Yang. Where does Yin fit into this?

Rhoday should direct more episodes. He does a great job. The montage at the end was great. And the funeral was gold.

That is what I call good television...Alot of the credit for this episode has to go to Roday though, since he directed it and it came along really well. It truly felt like a good mystery, and I loved how Shawn told Gus "this isn't over." Also the fact that we still don't know who Yin is. But the better question is why was he looking at that photo? Looking forward to when the show returns this summer.

USA really delivered with all it's finale's.

Can someone tell me the name of the song they play at the end of the episode?

Sorry to see Mary go. He was hilarious :hehe: and would have been a great semi recurring character.

Okay, here goes: My prediction (*drumroll*) Yin = Shawn's mom, Mrs. Spencer.

Mark my words - I called it here.

Could be, but why? She just snapped and went crazy? I'm all for it, I would just like an intriguing explanation.

Yin had no boobs. And man's hands. It's a man.

It's probably some dude that was always in the background but nobody noticed.

I like the show but the episode with Shawn's non-confession was beyond frustrating.

For starters, why would Gus even want to interpret that and stop Shawn from confessing? Like he was almost rescuing Shawn and doing Shawn a favor.

Yin has to be a man. Yin and Yang symbolize Female and Male respectively, and since Yang is female, Yin would have to be male. (I've also just noticed that if my theory is right, they've inverted them.)

Plus I doubt that a woman (especially one as old as Shawns mother) could have managed to get Juliet into that setup on the clock tower.

Yin was heavily padded to make his/her gender ambiguous. I know that Sybil Shepard's character was established as Shawn's mom but it's not impossible to imagine that Yang could be Shawn's biological mother. It's just some thoughts I had is all. I also think it would be great to have Yin be Shawn's sister with equal perception ability as Shawn. I think it would evolve the show and add a new dynamic to it.

Yin could be the force that gets Shawn to "grow up" and become a better detective.

Roday did an excellent job directing, the Hitchcock references were just right, the humor was in full force, and for the first time while watching Psych, I was honestly scared someone was about to die.

Best episode yet. That last shot really confused me though, I don't get Yin's connection.

I think Yin will be Anthony Michael Hall. Mary did bring a flare gun to the hideout

So, Everybody thinks that "Mr. Yin" will be another actor who starred in the Breakfast Club movie with Ally Sheedy? I thought that it might have been Judd Nelson again because the character he played on the show was very kookie & could have fit right in with Ally Sheedy's "Yang" character..

I'm still confused as hell with the ending.

I am too, but I still loved the episode. Abby's finally off doing her thing with no hope of reconciliation with Shawn, so that leaves the door open for Shawn and Jules. Although I think that Shawn choosing to rescue Abby instead of Jules will come back to bite him and put a strain on his and Jules' existing relationship and especially on any hopes of something more. Really sad that Mary died; he was a fun character. I wonder if next season we might get a season-long Yin arc. That'd be interesting new territory, given that Psych has always done very self-contained episodes with only a few plot threads running through the whole series.

I really liked this episode....loved all the Hitchcock stuff. But my wife wasn't familiar with his works, so she was a little out of the loop.

Heck. Psych could go Burn Notice. Shawn deals with a little on off case for the police as he attempts to figure out who Yin is on the side.

so at the end was that a picture of Mr. Yang and Shaun?? or is Mr. Yin like her son and/or protege? it was a strangely photoshopped picture.
