Well as Bale indicated, every shot was on location. I guess that adds up, not to mention it's a period piece with wardrobe and cars needed. Johnny Depp starring....I guess that stuff adds up.

Well, they will probably spend $70m more to promote this film, so everybody will want to see it. Still, they should change the release date, if they don't want to get burned.

Well isn't it set up for a summer release? That's probably the best time...

no teaser yet Hunter but...

BS: You mentioned Public Enemies — what was that experience like, and what's the tone and look of the film?

SD: It was awesome. We just finished last week, and it's a full-on gangster flick — 1934, the last year of Dillinger's life, and shooting real Tommy guns and hanging out of cars, having a ball. It was a journey, with a bunch of great actors. Johnny (Depp) was incredible to work with, and very sweet to me. I've known him for years, but had never gotten to work with him. And Marion Cotillard is an incredible actress; Christian Bale, the list goes on. There's so many great actors in that film. I had a really good time with Michael on it. It was long, but I think it'll be a really good movie. I think they're talking about a trailer or teaser going up soon, and it'll probably be out next summer.

I wonder how soon?

An update! Excellent.

And a teaser trailer soon? I'm already excited.

I hope they give us a taste of the movie like a teaser soon.

Sounds pretty good. I'm sure Mann will make adjustments with the film to give it the 30's look. Also I've read that Dillinger and Purvis never actually came face to face, so I wasn't expecting a big showdown, more of a cat and mouse type of thing....where Dillinger is always just one step ahead. Would have loved to hear some more about Crudup.

Also I liked Miami Vice :(

I'm already sensing that this will have a directors cut.

It's definitely a disappointment, but I'm elated that he seemed to love the film even in a very early stage.

Bummer. I was really hyped up for this too. Sad thing is, I have a feeling this will be the general reaction. Mann has just completely lost touch of his prime days. With such gold material, presumably it would be highly difficult to f**k it up.

^^ Nice find Donnie, from Empire ? That is the best shot we have had of Bale so far.

God, I wanna look like Johnny when i'm in my mid 40s. He looks younger than Bale.

And this made my day.

Good to see Bale in action, too.

Man, Depp seriously looks like Dillinger in that shot. The dude is honestly a chameleon.

Very nice pics!

Though Bale looks a tad bit awkward...
