Ok we've heard the "it needs $200M" rumours, weve heard Singer say he aims for a 2009 release of the sequel and what he plans to do with it
So lots of ppl making noise over what they think will happen from WB will wait for a few years and restart to There will be a sequel but with a different director to those that believe Singer will be back

Sooooo this thread is where you make a desicion on what you really believe will happen and be held to it when the truth is revealed

Exclusive: Singer on Superman Sequel & DVD
Source: Scott Chitwood
July 22, 2006

ComingSoon.net/SuperheroHype.com got to talk exclusively to Superman Returns director Bryan Singer on Friday and we asked him about the possible sequel, the DVD and what he's planning on doing next:

CS/SHH: Is the sequel going to happen?
Singer: Yes, probably for a 2009 release.

CS/SHH: You planted a lot of seeds in the first film, what do you want to cover in the second film?
Singer: I'd like to build on the seeds that are planted, you know, expand upon relationships, you've got now a child, you've got these other elements, but also have the opportunity to have the characters more established to bring in some more action and have some more stuff going on.

CS/SHH: In the comic adaptation there were little hints that the New Krypton settled into orbit.
Singer: Yeah, New Krypton has got these crystals on it, so anything's possible.

CS/SHH: What do you have in store for us on the DVD?
Singer: A number of things. There's the in-movie experience where during the movie you'll be able to pop-off to the set and see things live as they were shot. There's things like that. Plus we had a continuous presence of video on the set to the point... there's a lot of funny, interesting, kind of theater that you don't get to ordinarily see in the documentary material and then there will be deleted scenes.

CS/SHH: Do you want to do the entire sequel in 3-D?
Singer: I'd like to do more, I don't know how that whole experience would work out, depends how long the film is, it will probably be shorter.

CS/SHH: What's next for you?
Singer: Possibly a smaller film and a grand vacation.

It will come... People just want to troll and act like their hatred of Singer is shared by the world, which it isn´t. SR performed below industry expectations? It did, but it´s far far from the big time disaster some want to make it up to be.

Ive read that article but look in the BO threads where there are still lots of people expounding their corporate wannabe knowledge about how WB will not be happy about SR's money and won't be wanting Singer back, let eveyone log their view and eat it if they are proved wrong, that includes Mr Dent who spent forever the other night giving a supposed lesson to The Guard on why it is doomed and SR is a flop

Yeah, if you´ll believe some of what has been written here, SR causes erectile dysfunction, cancer, AIDS, homicidal tendencies, and an urge for appletinis...

I also find it funny that mr silly pic guy back there was so full of himself the other night but hasn't voted to back his so called educated view up:confused:

I just hope warner brothers release that singer is s***, as much i hate mcg i guess he would of had still the same box office takings or even better. The king needs to brought back on board and my moneys on dick donner.

I doubt singer will be back or that we'll see a direct continuation of this story. The next one will stick closer to the comics whenever it gets made.

hmm... i dunno, Singer seemed to have been a lock for X3 too, and you know what happened to that.

unless news comes out of WB signing Singer to do the sequels i'll take the wait and see approach.

I think Singer will be helming a more comic-inspired, actioned up sequel.

Sequel? -> Yes.
2009? -> Maybe
Director Singer "and all that stuff" --> Wroooooooong!

That thing will be doomed from the beginning. The WOM is mostly terrible. The exact opposite of Batman last year. If it wouldn't be 'Superman' the movie wouldn't even have gotten to do $ 170 mill.

I can see WB pulling "a Hulk" on this one. (Or at least I'm hoping for it.)

Singer needs to go and be far away from superman. Sequel 2009 that is damn far but with another director and a good writing team which includes joesph loeb.

I'm going to vote in two weeks. I'm torn and can't make a choice right now :)

  • Another Superman film? Pfft. Do bears poop in the woods? Of COURSE there will be another Supes' film.
  • 2009? Mmmm... depends on if it's a...
  • Sequel to SR? At this point, I seeeeeeeriously doubt it. But stranger things have happened, and Warners' execs are unpredictable, not to mention bipolar. They show moments of brilliance when they're not being dumber than a box of rox. :p

I never put my money where my mouth is. Money is dirty and could have germs.:(

You're right. Heck, I'm still in shock Smallville got a fifth season after the fourth one.

No, no, you're right. No "kidding." LOL

Even the luminaries at Warners know that money talks and BS walks. In SV's case, they didn't need an over-paid bean counter to remind them of what makes coin for the parent company. :)

A very good point. WB needs to start investing into better quality television.

In terms of the sequel, it could go either way. And either way, I benefit. You see, I wouldn't mind seeing Singer continue on, and I wouldn't mind them going in another direction.

At the same time, WB still wins. They're gonna get my money one way or another.

Is "joesph loeb" a combination of Joseph and Jeph Loeb?

Singer will be back with the same writing team to follow up on Returns.

Either way, I'd trade him for Mark Waid and Geoff Johns.
