Iron Man Q & A w/Jon Favreau from his Myspace site!

imageworks is spotty. i think they're only really decent in the spidey2 (even that had some ppl miffed but not myself)

the robot battle in the matrix revolutions was awesome, but then there were other parts that weren't up to par. and as for SR, i thought the whole plane sequence looked "plastic-like"

not for the actual superman model, b/c its hard to animate a human so i'll give them a pass on that, but for the static objects!

the freaking plane/shuttle had no weight to it, looked super fake, and the whole end-continent with lex's helo and the seaplane looked choppy imo

i say ILM, b/c potc2 fx blew me away, but i'm sure they're uber-expensive and busy so i dunno

weta can be amazing for a specific focus (gollum, king kong), so that might apply extremely well to an iron man suit but their background stuff (king kong t-rexes) can also be iffy

1. ILM
2. WETA
3. Sony Imageworks

I don't really know enough about these companies to rank them, but WETA did amazing work on King Kong. Kong was flawless.

But you didn't like the movie itself, I remember ?:)

^ No I didn't as a whole movie. I liked the presentation of the F/X and the cinematography. I liked the first 45 minutes and the last 45 minutes.

What was it you didn't like, the boat trip and most of what happened on the island ?

The whole Island scene was really screwed up big time. The scenes with Kong and the Girl (non-action scenes) were just specacular and done perfectly but all the ridiculous unnecessary action sequences with the dino, bugs, bats, etc...We're just done wrong. I'm sick of cliche clumsy dinosaurs, overweight lead actors that are not superheroes yet can outrun raptors or other speedy reptiles, etc...The fact that they're blue screen acting in the action sequences was just awful...except for the ending. That's just me. I understand some people loved it but it wasn't a dissapointment to many people including the industry and studio domestically as far as the box office is concerned. I think the lenght had nothing to do with it. It's like Jackson just wanted to fill up space so it could be over 3 hours.Everyone was saying it might topple Titanic. LOL

I loved the movie as a whole, but I agree with you on the dinosaur scene. That was just stupid and way over the top.

All in all a great movie, with a lot of heart and great special effects IMO. It should have done better BO wise but that's for Universal to worry about. It's not like there's going to be a sequel so I don't really care. Hasn't it made a profit though, with it being huge on DVD and whatnot ?

Hey guys check out my sig for the Starship Troopers poll. Casper Van Dien is on line now...yeah that's really him too. Cool huh.

Yeah, pretty cool:up: I should watch that movie sometime.

^ The first one (while not as epic as the novel) was an awesome sci-fi action film. Verehoven has a certain style and he made it fit perfectly with this material and the actors. Go over there and chat when you got time.

Well' i'm sold. I'll buy the DVD tomorrow:up: :)

I have nothing but time, so I suppose I could go over there and chat, wouldn't now what to talk about though, seeing as I haven't seen the movie:)

I'm looking forward to it now. Sounds great.

If you like action, sci-fi, and aliens it's a total blast. Again...this is tongue in cheek all the way.

You know, since you mentioned it and I'm thinking about it, wouldn't he be great as Captain America? Assuming he's close to 6' tall.

I saw on the IronManMovie myspace site(try saying that 3X fast) that he also put himself forward as a suggestion for Tony Stark.

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!

Van Diem is perfect for low-budget Sci-fi channel films, like "Gi-ANT", or "Bat Demon"... He has the right look but he's more wooden than a piece of wood. I don't want to see him near Cap, Iron Man, or any major Marvel Franchise.

You may as well cast Billy Zane as Tony Stark while you're at it. :)

If I were casting Cap, I'd go with a guy that could pull off a believeable soldier, like Damian Lewis as Maj. Winters in "Band of Brothers".

FYI Jon Favreu just had a new baby girl. Couple that with casting and it might explain his absence from his site lately. :)

He did? LOL

I linked him to the forum and suggested he try to get on board even if just a small role cause it's gonna be a awesome film. I'd love to see him as CAP...as Stark...that doesn't fit nearly as well. Maybe Ant-Man.

i still say that brad pitt is the man to play cap and that fella on eureka nathan stark is the guy for ironman/ tony stark

Well Pitt better start gaining some weight too. This is someone they need to cast further in advance if they plan on using an actor that needs to modify his body.

look at troy brad can get the size easy enough

^ He wasn't very big in Troy though he did buff out his frame and cut up. He's always been cut though. I'm not saying Pitt won't work but he doesn't look like a Super Soldier on steroids.
