Far From Home Qs you have/ things you liked/disliked about Far From Home [Spoilers]

There were few weird moments like Mysterio and Peter sitting in a bar in full costume without there masks. I know it was a fake bar, but Peter didn't know that.

Also what made Mysterio so sure Peter would give him the EDITH glasses? It was quite a reach to assume he would be able to emotionally manipulate him enough to give him the glasses. Why not Nick Fury or Hawkeye? .

I thought that set up was a bit sloppy considering how perfectly well the other pieces of Mysterios plan were set up

Fury or Hawkeye are more likely to trust themselves or someone they know over a new person they just met. Convincing the young, much less world weary and more trusting Peter was a much smarter play.

Also, Tony left Edith to Peter. Not Clint or Fury. So convincing them ultimately doesn't matter in getting Edith. They couldn't give him the access even if they wanted to.

A lot of good stuff here already but...

Likes
  • The action was improved from Homecoming
  • No more Karen
  • The illusion sequence with Mysterio was fantastic
  • They did a pretty good job bringing Mysterio to the big screen, all things considered
  • The final swing
Dislikes

  • Peter's supporting cast still isn't that great
  • The humor fell flat
  • Mysterio having a connection to Stark (I would have been fine with it if Vulture didn't have one as well)
  • The first act wasn't the best
  • Peter seemingly caring more about Tony than Uncle Ben
  • May and Happy being a "thing" for comedic purposes
  • Both credits scenes. Really disliked both of them as I felt they brought the movie down for me

After having seen how SMFFH ended , I think that it may have suffered a bit from being very much a transition bridge between not only part 1 and part 3, but to a lesser extent a bridge between Endgame and the next phase.

It has some of the weaknesses that second acts in trilogies can have in that the status quo can't really be shaken until the end of the 2nd part ,and part 3 is when the things hit the fan.

Consequently, alot of the 2nd part can end up sort of treading water until the twists/cliffhanger at the end which sets up 3.

I still think it a good Spiderman film, but I feel like its very much a transition to a 3rd film which will probably have more weight and higher stakes to it.

Not sure you understood what I meant. Basically, why didn't Peter think to give the glasses to someone he's known rather than someone he's just met. If the responsibility was too much for him he could have given it to literally any other Avenger from Falcon, Antman/Wasp etc. Proven heroes that he already knows.

Now that I think about it, why give them to anyone? The threat had ended, just put the glasses away and enjoy your trip lol

Agreed. Why Spidey and not another avenger ?
Thor and Danvers are out of Earth but it remains Sam, Rhody, Wanda, Clint, Hulk if needed

Well Alfre Woodard was in Luke Cage and Civil War

She plays 2 different characters in the same universe. Cage and CW are part of MCU.

JKS plays Jonah Jameson character but in two different universe. As if Marsden would play Cyclops in X-men rebooted

Can i just that I rolled my eyes when they played the Led Zeppellin song when Peter started to upgrade the suit with Tony's tech, the song that they have featured in an Iron Man movie. My God. Iron Man protégé much?

It wasn't Led Zeppelin. It was AC/DC. The joke was that Peter mistook it for Led Zeppelin because he doesn't know his rock as it's all a bit before his time.

Well I wasn't familiar who was the artist, but since you've pointed it out. I just remembered the ACDC Iron Man 2 soundtrack. Anyway inserting that song is another Iron Man moment in a Spider-Man movie and I didn't like it.

Honestly, Peter probably felt like he knew Beck better than Clint or Fury or whoever. He met them, yeah. But he didn't know them well at all. Only superhero he had a real relationship with was Tony. Who was dead.

Well, I get what you're saying. But most of the music used in FFH are also songs that Peter or his classmates wouldn't really be listening to, as they seem to come from previous eras. There was nothing contemporary, or at least contemporary with 2019, as predicting what kinds of songs would be around in 5 years time would be difficult, unless they specifically wrote some new songs for the film.

Back in Black by AC/DC seemed to be more Happy Hogan's choice than Peter's (which it obviously was, since Peter didn't even know what it was). Although I can't remember now whether it was Back in Black or Shoot to Thrill (both of which were used in Iron Man films) as I've only seen the film once.

It was Back in Black

Liked that it was better movie than Homecoming, but then Homecoming was very Meh
Liked the Mysterio battles

Hate that Peter gets dumber with each Spidey film.
Hate that Marvel won't let Tony RIP

MCU Spidey supporting cast needs an overhaul so badly..... Random Landlord and his awkward daughter in Raimi trilogy are more interesting than these characters.....

I ddint like how everyone kept calling Zendaya's character MJ when last film she was known as Michelle. Its weird to have known and refer to someone by their first name for years and just switch up to a nickname. I dont believe Michelle was even uttered. I do think she and Peter had chemistry but it did feel forced in the beginning how he was all over her. Seemed like a rehash of his feelings for Liz.

I do think this film was better than Homecoming although it was a bit contrived

To be fair, she only told them that her friends call her MJ at the end of Homecoming. So they likely didn't know that she preferred to be called MJ, and now they do. So they do.

Are all her classmates her friends? Aren't some of them just classmates? I wouldn't really call Flash a friend, just as he isn't one to Peter either at this point.

I think you're reading too far into this, amigo. It was basically her way of saying "call me this"

but like DR said, it would have made more sense for some to still call her Michelle.. They wanted the big reveal in the last film but it doesnt feel organic here based on what was set up. I actually would have preferred if everyone called her Michelle and MJ was reserved for Peter

She should've just said "call me MJ" instead then. Her classmates didn't even know her at the end of the last movie, as she had always lurked in the background. Most could've even answered "we are not your friends. We don't know you!"

She could've just said to Peter (or a small group of friends like Ned and maybe Betty) "my friends call me MJ".

At the end of the day, it's simply that Watts wanted her to be called MJ as a nod to Mary Jane, but only wanted to reveal that right at the end of the film so as not to give away her identity.

I would rather that Zendaya straightened her hair too like she does in real life. That looks more like Mary Jane. She's just a completely different character at the moment who happens to share the same initials.

Clearly the vision for this character is more Ally Sheedy in The Breakfast Club and not Molly Ringwald. Hence why they don't keep her hair straight and such. I agree, she's effectively a new character. It's a needless change, but at the end of the day I just look at her as essentially a new character.

Yea it worked in the context of the film. It's not unforgivable, I just thought it was worth discussing.

Was Mysterio snapped out of existence along with William Riva? Or did they survive the snap? You'd think after such a cataclysmic event they would've had more important things to worry about than carrying on a grudge all these years later.

Also, does Jacob Batalon wear a wig as Ned? Or does he grow his hair for filming? But then he'd have to grow it quickly, but he always seems to have a shaved head in real life.

It's a wig, he's always bald IRL, including when Tom Holland instagrams pics of them together during breaks in filming.

By coming with Blip we are supposed to believe that for those snaptured it wasn’t a cataclysmic event but something to be joked about. That Peter went from combat on Titan straight to another battlefield makes him a bit different than the rest of the world
