Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Wow, the stuff regarding Uma Thurman is bad enough, his comments on Polanski are disgusting, how the hell did he get away with that interview and keep getting so much positive spotlight?
I think it puts the Weinstein scandal in its proper light. It shows what use to be okay, and it is rather stark.

More of a matter that he clearly has a hard time understanding the concept of consent and respecting the personhood of women and girls so maaaaaaybe his view of the situation with Uma Thurman is pretty damn skewed.
Yes. So when he gives his perspective on how he treated Thurman, acting like he was being kind and understanding, I don't believe a word. Especially with how it contradicts what she herself said.

The same reason Polanski himself won the Oscar for best director a few months before, no one cared.

Pretty chilling when you put it like that.

Yeah, that piece of **** was just the tip of the iceberg it seems, so many more are going to finally get what's been coming to them.

Why didn't he talk to Maureen Dowd?

Does not give more detail as to why:

The thing is, Uma had people she wanted to indict, for that cover-up. Part of my job on the piece was to do an interview with Maureen Dowd, and back up Uma’s claims. And we never hooked up. Me and Dowd never hooked up. I read the article and basically it seemed like all the other guys lawyered up, so they weren’t even allowed to be named. And, through mostly Maureen Dowd’s prose, I ended up taking the hit and taking the heat.

Yep, I change my take on this.

That response of his on Polanski is just downright twisted, no matter which way you look at it. I'm the last to get on the "burn 'em at the stake!" bandwagons, but this thing with his take on Polanski is the line for me where I don't think I'd care much at this point if this movie falls apart and he's run out of Hollywood.

That's not going to happen, of course. But ehh, you can make a hypothetical defense of the Uma/Kill Bill stuff, and the Basterds choke, but if this is how the guy sees the Polanski stuff, **** him basically.

The academy giving Polanski an oscar and a standing ovation saw the Polanski case that way too. All scum.

Never ever admire them as ppl, but just the art.

I wonder if some of what Scorsese did in the 70s will come out now.

What a load of crap.

Scorsese came out in support of Polanski in the past. DarthSkywalker has already embarked on a journey to end his career.

Scorsese while high on cocaine use to go into brothels and strip joints and slap some of them around or got a bit rough, allegedly. He also put a gun to a producers head in order to release him from a movie contract, this was so he could go out and make Taxi Driver. All this is allegedly. A constant player at studio 54 too.

And all of that's horrible. If it's corroborated and more proof/allegations of it all comes out, he'll probably pay a price for it too.

Quentin just flat-out said "it's okay to bone a 13 year old if she 'wants it'," though. That...seems a whole other level. He's not claiming Roman didn't do it, like some of these other celebrities, he's basically saying he did and he doesn't care that he did.

I remember reading that Scorsese stuff in some old behind the scene hollywood book, which I can't remember the name. They also do not paint the most flattering pic of Steven Spielberg. Take it all with a grain of salt of course.

Hadn't really heard anything about Steven. He obviously did pal around with Marty and De Palma and Milius etc, but sort of seems he was the tame one of the bunch. What did he do?

Nah, the Spielberg stuff was him mostly being a prick *****e to ppl. Huge ego.

I really really really hope since the times are changing this interview gets a lot of spotlight right now and the proper outrage it should be getting. What he said is utterly despicable.

According to the article, they didn't return NYT's requests for comment. Not saying it would've avoided all the post-article hysteria, but he failed to get in front of it.

Ironically, that story of Marty pulling a gun on someone is also on youtube and told by Quentin. lol

Yeah, this is what Uma told Quentin too. It is also the reason why she came out and wrote that on her instagram, she saw how he took all the heat.

People were already defending him with what happened with Uma claiming that "he was careless but he is not really a criminal" I guess Uma should have died for the matter to be serious.

Now what he said, that having sex with a 13 yo is okay because Polanski likes "Girls" is so digusting.

"That’s not rape. To me, when you use the word rape, you’re talking about violent, throwing them down—it’s like one of the most violent crimes in the world." That's his response when he learnt that the girl said "No". I mean it's bad enough to think that it's okay for a grown man to be attracted to a 13 girl, but now it really shows that Tarantino doesn't understand what rape is.
If you "have sex" with someone who doesn't want to, you say "No" several times, it's rape.

"She wanted to have it and dated the guy and—" Gotta love how QT speaks for the victim.

Yeah it sounds like Quentin has a different definition for rape. I mean in the end it doesn't matter that much because he acknowledges that what Polanski did was ******. He just doesn't agree with the way it's described, which is ill informed at the worst. As far as I know he didn't say Polanski doesn't deserve punishment, like a bunch of other Hollywood stars did.

I'm not really into deflecting, speaking on what other actors did or didn't say regarding Polanski.

QT didn't believe the victim, said that "she wanted it" despite her saying that she didn't.

At worst, a man of power who doesn't understand what rape is, who was friend with sex offender HW for years (and he knew what he did) and, who also defended Polanski, makes me think that he probably did the same thing.

I 100% guarantee you even if she died there would be lots of people defending him. They would still say "oh, but he didn't mean to hurt her so that's OK".

It's widely known at least among thinking people that often times women don't fight back because they fear the violence will escalate. We now have Tarantino who often has women characters in his movies and makes violent films on record not even understanding what constitutes rape.

If I ever see anyone saying his movies are feminist again I will vomit.

Tarantino must have known about HW. The moron that he is however, he didn't think it qualifies as rape or abuse because nobody shot Weinstein in the d*** or stumbled out of his hotel room covered in blood.

So Tarantino is a sex offender in your eyes?

“I knew enough to do more than I did.[...] There was more to it than just the normal rumors, the normal gossip,” he said in the interview with the New York Times. “It wasn’t secondhand. I knew he did a couple of these things.
Int.

I don't think QT is a moron. The way he talked about strangling Kruger Dianne Kruger, spitting on Thurman during the shooting, him defending a rapist. I think it's more likely that he enjoys, maybe?, hurting women in some way.
