Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

I need a Pitt film, directed by Redford... about Redford.

That A River Runs Through It/Spy Game double-feature is waiting for you.

they filmed her character as pregnant

Oh no. I guess I'm the reverse from some folks. I really DON'T WANT TO SEE Tarantino shoot or include the murders in his film. I am sure he'd be more tasteful about it than all the exploitative crap coming out this year for the 50th, but that is just too... dark and horrible to jive with the tone of Tarantino films, which this trailer definitely has.

Could be she has his baby or something. A lot of room for alternative history.

This is our first good look at the Manson girls, Charles Manson's (more on him in a bit) cult followers. At the front is The Leftovers' Margaret Qualley, who's playing a character named Kitty Kat. This is likely a nod to real-life Manson girl Kitty Lutesinger.

This shot is one of the more exciting in the trailer, as it shows Bruce Lee (Mike Moh) and Jay Sebring (Emile Hirsch) fighting poolside at a house that bears a striking resemblance to the one Tate and Sebring were later murdered in.

Sebring trained with Lee and eventually helped him land his breakout TV role on The Green Hornet. When that show was canceled, Sebring then helped Lee find Hollywood clients to train, including Steve McQueen (who will be played by Damian Lewis in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood).

The final image of note in the trailer is this quick glimpse at a production set. Behind the camera is actor Nicholas Hammond, who is playing Sam Wanamaker. You may recognize Hammond as Friedrich von Trapp from The Sound of Music. Wanamaker was a famous actor and director, who worked with Reynolds on Gunsmoke and later directed episodes of shows like Cimarron Strip and Coronet Blue.

Also of note in this shot: Timothy Olyphant to the right in a red shirt and what also looks to be Luke Perry right next to him, in his final movie role before he passed away this March.

Speaking of Manson, we see him in all of his toothy glory, brought to life by Justified's Damon Herriman. (Herriman will also play Manson in the upcoming second season of Netflix's Mindhunter.)

Margot is our modern day version of Anita Ekberg, but with acting talent.

Just out of curiosity, how so? Because they're both gorgeous and men seem to lose their minds over them? I'm just curious because they don't really play the same roles or look that similar beyond blonde hair.

Anita got the same roles over and over after her flick with Fellini. The blonde bombshell. I just feel Margot could've easily gone that route if it weren't for her acting talent. And to each their own, bald man, but they look alike to me. I guess it depends on what angle, kinda with Margot and Tate.

Ah, gotcha. And yes, Margot was a "bombshell" after TWOWS but other than Harley Quinn, which is kind of a minefield in all sorts of way, she's avoided those type of roles since then. Even Focus was more Grace Kelly than Marilyn Monroe (or Anita). Thanks though, as she's clearly an actress directors like putting in nostalgic roles (again Grace and now literally Sharon Tate, who was definitely a bombshell).

Odd thing of note, if true. Michael Caine allegedly was at one of these parties back in the day, and he said Tate was introduced to Manson at that party, but other folks said he completely made it up, but don't know why he would do that. Eh.

Y'know, it never even crossed my mind that Tarantino could pull another Inglourious Basterds and re-work history a bit, considering he's already doing that by the existence of Leo and Pitt's characters in the first place. But speaking frankly, I do think messing around with the Tate murders is quite a bit more distasteful than unloading a machine gun in Hitler's face.

Again, her own sister who has been more than negatively vocal over past books and movies about Sharon, she has given this movie her blessing. I doubt that would've happened if QT is doing anything in poor taste.

Polanski is in this movie too and his real life victim has also read the script. She has given this her blessing as well.

Man, Mike Moh looks spot on as one of my childhood heroes! Seems like Bruce is wearing his Kato outfit from Green Hornet!

Great teaser! The cinematography, production design, tone, cast, and direction look awesome!

People in Hollywood have a few stories and I'm sure they like to exaggerate if not make them up whole cloth all the time. Also, let's not ignore the fact that actors are in a way professional liars and con artists. They are performers and they like to perform for people. They like to be the center of attention.

You really are immersed in this world, aren't you? :o

I get all of this, bald man. I just feel these things hold more weight depending on who says it tho. Michael Caine doesn't seem like the type who would make that up, but then again, I bet he was high af during that time, just like everyone else. Young Michael Caine was a smooth playa, panties dropped in every direction.

Finally got to watch the teaser and im so down for this. Even though it was just a tease I already love the vibe and mood of this. Trademark Tarantino. I need to rewatch Hateful 8.

Along with the actor who plays Manson playing Manson in an unrelated project, it's crazy to me that Madisen Beaty is playing one of the Manson girls in this after playing one in the Aquarius TV show.
