Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

That question represent everything what's wrong with todays society. And QT is true one. I dont think you could have answered any better even though he was foaming from inside.
"Everything wrong with today's society"?

Not political corruption caused by the caustic effect of corporate influence through money on government policy... It's not the ease at which rumor and ignorance can actually be spread via social media which we have seen has had real world consequences such as when anti-vax propaganda gets a foothold in a parent's mind... Not apathy towards environmental degradation... Not the ease at which people in free nations can be manipulated by the low cost methods of online social medi campaigns originating from authoritarian foreign regimes... Not the rise of reactionary politics around the globe, many, if not most, who take their inspirations from earlier political movements from the early 20th Century which were both racist and fascist.... And it seems definitely not the way so many choose to express themselves with such hyperbolic terms on a regular basis online that they basically make the real purpose of language meaningless...

No truly the absolute worst thing about society is director's getting peppered with questions at a presser to promote his new movie.

When people have been so convinced, or worse, make the CHOICE to be convinced by the powerful that the truly unimportant is something that they must concentrate on and focus all their anger and resentment on rather than see what is actually wrong in the world, well... it's this blinkered attitude which make all the stuff I listed and more possible.

PS... Yes... That was a silly question with a silly assumption at its core. But... that's all it was. Some encapsulated version of literally all that is wrong with society? Gimme a ****ing break.

Before anyone chimes in... If ya'll learned how to express yourselves without going to the over the top hyperbole well as your FIRST option every single time when posting on places like the Hype you wouldn't have folk like myself point out how detached from reality your posts are.

It was a dumb question that didn't deserve a nuanced response. If you're making and then editing a movie just to make sure a character has a certain amount of lines, then it's going to be a bad movie.

I don’t see anything wrong with QT’s response to that question. It wasn’t a rude or insulting response, and he likely would have had the same answer whether it was a man or woman asking the question. It was a pointless “gotcha” question anyway.

He basically said “I disagree with your assessment and don’t want to answer the question.” Then Margo Robbie defended her role. And yet, it was a trending Twitter topic of people slamming QT for being a misogynist pig with his response.

Whether one likes it not, QT always comes off as rude if 'rattled' though. One can disagree with someone without losing one's s**t, which he has a tendency to do, but given he's a 13 year old boy trapped in a man's body, it's unsurprising.

I don't find anything QT did in that interview to be note worthy. It was a dumb question, he dismissed it without insulting that person. The end. It was fine.

Nope. The question was DUMB, and didn't deserve to be treated any differently than Quentin Tarantino has done. Humanity is going off the rails if Tarantino is the problem in this scenario.

I'm merely pointing out he has previous, only read the piece I posted, haven't seen any footage or other material on the 'dialogue' issue or any other that might have cropped up at Cannes.

Then you should simply watch the footage for yourself, instead of gratitiously pointing fingers based on what you think about Quentin Tarantino and his persona.

I think he's a good director but he's known for being a '*ick', and being easily riled. That cannot be denied.

Okay then, it comes down to an individuals' view of what constitutes 'being rude' or 'rudeness' then....

she reminds me of this woman :D

I don't see how anyone can see how he responded as being rude. Tarantino is notorious for getting easily riled up, and yeah he looked annoyed at what was being insinuated, but he didn't talk down to the reporter. Frankly, he handled better than what I would have.

Quentin may be known for being a dick , but his response was restrained and respectful and stopped an unnecessary controversy right in its tracks.
People who are attacking him over this are the real problem, and clearly need to find healthier ways to vent out their personal frustrations.
And a movie not reaching any 'feminist quota' as far as dialogue count isn't WRONG. People need to relearn how to judge things based on what they ARE, and not what they personally WANT. This is HIS work and HIS story. His job is not to fulfill any wishes.

Not a Tarantino fan, but let's be honest, the reporter was clearly trying to provoke and bait him. Look at how she worded and asked it. Look at how she wrote the article. She clearly was acting biased.

So...how does Quentin Tarratino publicly disagreeing with the journalist who asked a pointless nonsense question about the limited amount of dialogue an actor got in a movie controversial in any way again?

I often wonder if reporters who cover movies actually understand how difficult this stuff is to create.

I do find it hilarious that some of them had their knives ready to go tho, but they can't really hate on him film wise cause he at least made a good movie. Even the vocal critics have given it at least a positive. I also have no doubt that once this opens wide and more ''critics'' see the flick it will earn unwarranted negative reviews, just cause of this. Eh.

One of the negative reviews is a from a critic who admits not to understand english or french, so by default it got a negative. lol

Nononono. You wont get away with this. This question was specific and intended with a purpose and you know for what purpose it was. That's why QT rejected answering her question.

Q was asked. He shot it down.

It's funny the types that want to make it a big thing who disagree with the question and the questioner actually trying to make this bigger than it is while, strangely, complaining about "outrage".
