I used to read this back in the day, does Chris Powell still switch his mind with the android body that is another dimension when he changes?

Actually, I'm kinda confused on that now. The reimagining of his origin says that the whole thing back in the 90's was something his mind fabricated to deal with the alien truth of his armor. His mind switched into a gem in some other world when Razor took over but he freed himself and was present in his body after he took back control.

So I'm thinking that no, he doesn't switch back. That was a mental way of his body dealing with the complexities of the alien armor.

I thought it was still an android body and that his mind still switched back and forth, but the specifics of the android's origin and the nature of the switching were different.

From what I understood about WAR OF KINGS: ASCENSION, it was that the amulet shunts off the host body's consciousness into "The Null" while the Raptor who controls that amulet takes over the body. Apparently only humans have the power to resist this and regain full control, as Chris Powell demonstrates. The armors can "reconfigure" to adapt to needs, although whether this means swapping out alternate suits or just adapting a current one is fuzzy. I mean, and this is a terrible example, in the 1990's IRON MAN cartoon, Iron Man could "reconfigure" his armor to suit any environment or threat, but he would remain in his own body and whatnot.

The way I figure it is this: The Raptors live in the Null and can only inhabit the android bodies their crystal is bonded to. The host touches the amulet out in reality and they get shunted to the Null--probably body and all, given that Chris' body is never left lying around in reality--and the android body takes their place. A Captain Marvel/Rick Jones situation, basically, only the android body kicks their consciousness out and only lets the Raptor in--unless it's not configured properly, as with humans, who are too "new" a race to have been programmed in when the androids were made. That loophole allowed Chris to bump the Raptor back into the Null and take over the android body.

The body's reconfigurations are simply the robotic parts shifting around. I figure the androids are basically Transformers, only with various reasonably similar, humanoid configurations instead of two or three vastly different configurations.
