Question: Wasn't Lois and Kara supposed to intereact with each other?

If I remember correctly, I could've sworn that Erica said something about when Lois meets Kara; that it starts off rocky for them, but later they become close friends....so far we haven't seen any interaction (well verbally) on screen at all on Smallville, nor have heard anything about them talking about each other....is this due to the "writers strike"?
