Only when Reeve portrayed him did I buy that; he really made them seem like 2 different people. Plus, he made Clark someone you really wouldn't look in the eye, or pay much attention to. Whether or not Brandon can do that remains to be seen.
Funny-my son's name is Brandon.

And from what I've heard of the last part of the movie, and Superman's confrontation with Lex, that feeling of "Is he gonna make it?" should be well intact.
Maybe. But see how you defend it? By going to the heart of the remarks about Superman. Not by attacking me, X3 or Marvel. True as it may be that I'm not a big Superman fan in general, I, believe it or not, allow for the possibility that I'm wrong. Perhaps it will be good despite my many reservations. However, as it stands there's only one possible way I'll see it in the theater & that's if my kids wear me down. And if my expectations are proven wrong you will all know. If I'm proven right you'll know.
Oh-and I know about Doomsday & all the other things you mentioned in the comics. I even read Kevin Smith's script, although I think I'm the only person who liked it.

Yeah, I don't attack people. Besides, your argument, although I disagreed with it, seemed to voice a genuine concern...so there was no need for an attack...

well, except for you liking the Kevin Smith script...but I'll let that slide this time...;)

It's been almost 20 years since the last Superman movie.
It's been, what, 3 since the last X-Men?
I'm more excited for Superman than X-Men. :o

The only things I found seriously wrong with it are the elements he didn't even want to include, like the polar bears & Brainiac's sidekick.

I also want to point out that none of my doubts have anything to do with Brandon or Kevin; in fact they're the only counterbalance to my doubts. I actually think BR might turn out to be a great choice. I was watching this thing on cable last night on "Comics On Film" & when Brandon was talking-he sounded a lot like his predecessor to me. If anyone could make a good Superman after Reeve, I'd say it's him.

And in fairness to The Batman, you're not the only one who assumed my stance stems from some pro-Marvel bias. Truth be told, Marvel's been f***ing up lately-BIG TIME. But mostly on the comic page. (Read my sig.) It's like they've forgotten what made people fall in love with the characters in the first place, & they've set out to change it all.
I also know that while I'm jumping all over Singer for both the things he HAS changed & the things he hasn't, it's very likely that another director could've taken a COMPLETELY different approach & gotten the same mixed reaction. I daresay that I don't envy anyone who brings Superman to any medium, page or screen, big or small, just because of the things I've pointed out. Stick to the norm & it's "We've seen this before". Change something, & it's "Superman is a classic! Don't tinker with it!"

Making a quick decision is easy; defending it is something else.

I like Superman better than X-Men, but I gotta admit X3 did it's job better than Superman Returns.

SUPERMAN RETURNS IS WAY WAY BETTER. Superman Returns has upped the standards for superhero movies. The only one close to it right now is Batman Begins.

I disagree emphatically.

And emphatically's like...a lot.

Superman Retuns=Best Comic book Movie of 06"..He's back!!!!

P.S..X3 sucked!!!

This is easy, it's X3 all the way!! Lex Luther as the villian yet again is just too lame and tame!

X3 had all out rocking action!!

I haven't seen Superman Returns yet, but I know X3 sucked, so I'm leaning more on SR...but I'll add my vote once I see Supes...hopefully tomorrow.

A festering pile of crap is much better than X3 was, though.

Not to say that Superman Returns isn't a fantastic film that had all the heart and soul that they cut out of X3 to make room for the slam-bang whoopdie-freakin'-doo overrated action sequences, but saying that anything is much better than X3 is not saying a whole lot. ;)

I've always been a Superman/Batman fan, so no contest for me "Superman Returns" wins! And the fact of watching a 2 1/2 hour movie about Superman versus watching a 1 1/2 hour movie with a bunch of heroes, means watching a well played script (whether people like it or not) versus a hurried script that tries to give every hero (well accomplished actor) quality time in the moive. Bryan Singer wins again!

Before I saw them I thought X3 would be better, and while I did like it, I liked Superman Returns more.

Wow that is like asking, quick decision: chocolate cake, albeit not spectacular (Superman Returns) or a steaming pile of **** with whipped cream on top (X3).

That was indeed, very easy.

P.S. Any one who suses the excuse of "Lex Luthor as the villain....again is lame" needs to count how many times before X3 we have seen Magneto try and kill humanity or ignite a war.

And at least in Singer's films Magneto's conquests and manipulations were menacing and serious as opposed to a stupid "chess analogy" commplete with bad puns and facless sidekicks.

Sorry, but I had to add that.
