Oh wow, so now you're gonna split hairs like that. Do you also have a problem with Sam Jackson as Fury because its the 'Ultimates' version? The MCU has been taking inspiration from the the ultimates and 616 since its inception.

Ultimate Hawkeye and 616 Hawkeye have drastically different costumes. Do you not think that there are people who like the 616 version? I would be really impressed if they adapted the 616 version because that's the costume he's been in the longest.

It won't happen, because Hawkeye's 616 costume is *awful*. There probably are worse costumes in comics, but his certainly hits impressive heights of "impossible to take seriously", "says nothing about the character", and "has no rational in story justification."

Movie wasn't called The Ultimates, and the point was headgear not costume.

That's one of the dumbest thing I've read in these forums. So just because the movie wasn't called 'Ultimates', it doesn't mean the MCU can't take inspiration from the Ultimate comics right? Hawkeye didn't wear any head gear in the ultimate comics. And his purple costume would look silly and goofy on-screen. It's down-right awful.

Well...Hawkeye was a circuss act right? if they would have kept that back story then him wearing something like that would fit right in. But I don't think MCU Hawkeye was a circuss act...

i wish that hawkeyes costume in the MCU was what it is now but the black was SHIELD blue instead, a nod to his old costume, and also makes sense because it's his specialised SHIELD outfit.

That's what people with no imagination or creativity said about the X-men costumes from the comics. They way they did them in First Class looked perfectly fine. If people thought those looked silly then I'm confident in my opinion that those people don't read or like comics. If you do, then I'm shocked because like a lot of directors for these films, you seem to be ashamed of the source material. They could alter his mask to make it work and I'm willing to bet they didn't even try for the movie.

Thing is Hawkeye's costume is from the Ultimates, it still derives from source material. Hawkeye's mask is pointless, just like Wolverine's cowl. He doesn't need it imo. The X-men films didn't even consider deriving from any source material and went for generic black leather suits that have no resemblence to the source material at all.

I don't have a problem with them using his Ultimates costume. As you said, it's still accurate to one form of the source material. Him not having his 616 costume didn't ruin my enjoyment of the film.

I understand why Hawkeye's mask is pointless for the most part, but then you could say the same about Captain America's.

As for the X-men, I never cared for the black leather and will be honest that I went into fanboy mode back when the first film was being made. I was pretty ticked off they didn't have some form of their yellow and blue costumes. Then First Class comes along and Synger/Vaughn give them the proper costumes and it worked because they took their heads out of their asses and realized that just because it's a spandez material in the comics doesn't mean it has to be like that in live action.

To stay on topic, I hope Quicksilver has his platinum/silver hair. I'm more curious about how they're going to explain how he has his powers.

Thing is though, you can easily adapt Captain's America's costume into live action without it looking silly and goofy. It works, I can't really say much about Wolverine's cowl and Hawkeye's 616 universe costume.

Terrigen mist? Or they never have to explain either.

Well, I guess it's because some think he's a decent actor?

ATJ's got a whole variety of different roles on his resume. While he's not my first choice for QS, really I don't know who else I'd cast, I think he'd be able to pull off the snarky, entitled arrogance.

The newbie who left nasty comments here and in a couple of other threads has mysteriously disappeared. :woot: I knew that the mods would take care of him soon enough.

Personally, I am looking forward to what ATJ and Elizabeth Olsen bring to the roles. I haven't seen them in many films so I don't have any preconceived notions about their acting. Their personal lives make not one bit of difference in how I perceive them. It's hard to understand people who obsess over those things.

I love ATJ, he can bring exactly what this character needs, & I know in my bones that both his performance & costume will be far better than Evan Peters & what's going on in X-Men.

Just make the hair short & spiky as you would a regular hairstyle, only his will be colored silver.

His mutation has a secondary effect of silverish hair color. The studies on silver foxes in russia makes this completely plausible - likely even. Easy peasy.

While fox might own the film right for "mutants", they can't own the rights to a genetic mutation. You can't own the rights to something that isn't copy writeable. They can easily say they were born with their powers. They just can't outright talk about being Mutants or being part of the Brotherhood of Mutants, or mention Magneto, etc.

Can you imagine if somehow this Quicksilver manages to look worse than the one in DOFP? I know it doesn't seem possible, but what if it happens?

There's no need for an explanation. One of my classmates went completely grey at the age of 10. Prematurely grey hair ran in his family. Steve Martin also went grey relatively young. It happens.

Whatever AOU's Quicksilver looks like, I don't think they will copy Helen Mirren's hairstyle for ATJ. :hehe:

I think everyone working on AoU will be constantly looking at that image to motivate themselves to do everything possible to come up with a better look.

he'll be hairless with silver skin. but, for some reason, will wear a light blue tank top with a lightning bolt on front. and matching speedos. and roller blades. he needs roller blades.

I don't mind DOFP quicksilver. The hair is too grey, I must admit but I like the jacket and the screw you attitude.

I still think marvel can do better though

given the 70's setting, the DOFP look works...

but, I wouldn't want to see anything like that for the Avengers version

616 HE Costume >>>>>>>>>> Ultimate and it could definitely be pulled off live action, if the color is what bothers people, Id live with the color changing, but it's no more or less ridiculous than certain other super hero costumes, it has the Wolverine cowl thing going which is awesome, and we have all wanted to see Wolvie wear his costume so this would be as close as we get :P

It just looks so lame...even for something placed in the '70's time era it could've been a lot better.

He looks like a reject Tekken character.
