Racial Stereotypes

I was listening to the radio yesterday and they were talking about the perception that you are more likley to be mugged by a black man then a white. The conversation then went onto some big debate about wether black parents are any different to white.

So, do you believe that some racial stereotypes may be true? Are black people more likley to lead a life of crime then white? Will an asian child do better at school then a white child?

It just got me thinking. We are raised in a society where you can be branded a racist for saying even the slighest thing about someones ethnicity. Maybe not all racial stereotypes are bad. After all differences are what make us interesting.

I dunno if anything I just posted made sense.

Of course racial stereotypes are true. I mean, you can blatantly see people of different race doing the exact things in their stereotype. But that doesn't mean they apply to everyone.

Racism is horrible, but I don't think racial stereotypes is that extreme.

Well then, you're wrong. Some of them are true. Black people are more likely to commit crimes, not because they're black, but because the majority of black people have been f**ked into the ghettos and poor neighborhoods for so long that it just comes out that more of them would be criminals. I bet there's at least one or two stereotypes for every race that comes out as being true, because there's a reason that they're stereotypes. Now are they ALWAYS true? No, but they sometimes are.

Has anyone ever seen that commercial on MPT where the young child says:

All white people are racists.
All black people are lazy.
All muslims are terrorists.
All hispanics are. . .

"Hey! Wait a minute. People are People.

Stereotyping is wrong."

This really has nothing to do w/ anything; I just thought that it was so funny, because the kid's voice had firm conviction when he was saying the stereotypes. Then, the voice becomes shaky when the last part is stated.

Racial humor from little children is funny imo.

Some people do act like the stereotype--it just has to happen. I mean, the very definition of a stereotype is that someone saw a whole bunch of one group act a certain way, so he assumes that everyone of that group is the same.
