I'd like to see an extended cut of the ending on dvd. Although the ending was cool, i'd like to see some post-final battle dialogue between the all survivors.....

i would of liked to see this at the end:

Rambo reuniting with his father,

I'd like to see the guy (can't think of his name - Ryan Chappelle from '24') who said "Killing is wrong" and that he was gonna report Rambo for the boat incident, then turns out doing the deed himself. I would just have like to see some post final battle dialogue between them.

I also think that the head of the Army died way to quick for all the atrocities he conducted during this movie. A mo-fo like that needs to be kept alive and tortured for as long as humanly possible. :cmad:

I figured as much. Like i said, i find it hard to believe that they waited that long to try and rape Julie Benz's character. Those bastards would have done her immediately.

1) The Burmese general would've had 1st dibs on her.
2) General was secretly gay. Seems like the number 2 guy was the only one who knew this.
3) The number 2 guy couldn't do her until he found a nice teenage boy for his General.

That's how I see it anyways.:o

I think that was pretty much implied, but actually seeing this occur would have been a nice touch.

I thought the ending was beautiful

Especially when Rambo glances down the "long road" but decides to walk down the road to reunite with his father. The orchestral version of "It's A Long Road" was very powerful and brought Rambo's chracter full circle. Even if the final image we see of him is walking down that road, this time the road leads to happiness and peace!

how do we know if his father is still alive. Rambo is a old man. His father would have to be in his 80's or 90's I think. I think he's father is dead.

I really did enjoy the ending. Left you with a sense of peace and closure ... although I wouldn't mind seeing another.

36 million only? While other films have completely smashed it... it's down to number 7 and it has a 60 million dollar production budget... yup, big success

I can't believe the kind of crap people in the US are flocking to over such a kick ass film like this... why is this being left behind in dust and soot while other crap gets so much more money..

10 years ago this movie would have made double..I think

In the 90's? Yeah, it most likely would have. Not sure if people are tired of that type of balls to the wall action flick or it was just the 'Rambo' named that scared them away.

$50 million production budget, and it only had about a 37% drop this week.

It was pretty much a give-in that this movie would make most of its profit overseas on dvd to begin with.

I wouldn't doubt that Sarah had been raped several times already, we didn't see what was happening every second that she was there.

And RAMBO's father is still alive, obviously he inquired about where his father was before seeking him out, there couldn't have been a more perfect final shot for this series than what they showed with the iconic "It's a Long Road" theme playing.

If Meet the Spartans can reach the top spot and Fools Gold can rake in over $20 million in three days, than I think that quality scares the American public away...hell I can think of countless examples of that.

Any news of the DVD? or whether they are planning to release a box set?

Most awesome action movie I've seen in years!
Sure, there were a few stale lines and situations, like the part on the boat that was mentioned earlier.
Whoa, talk about VIOLENCE!
I wonder if they'll be an even more violent DVD release?

It will easily make over 40 million, plus maybe another 50 million overseas. And I hate the studio that released this movie. They never know how to market their movies.

LGF marketed the saw films just fine and I thought they did a great job with Rambo. It's just a niche film though for Stallone/Rambo fans. It's a 200 million/film franchise now.

I think Rambo would of faced harsher cynacism in the 90's . Now this nostalgia is commonplace. Also the cinematography on this film was excellent . I'm glad it got made recently. Also If it were the nineties it probably would of been called Rambo : Taking it to the hood or something like that.

You know its funny that all across the internet geeks are shouting out "WHY IS RAMBO NOT MAKING TONS OF MONEY, IT WAS SO GOOD!" Maybe because its not? :woot:

Don't get me wrong I can understand why a fan of the franchise or of these types of movies in general would love the film but its the blindness of fans to this fact that astounds me. The biggest problem with "Rambo" is the script, its utterly atrocious especially the dialog. Stallone seems to base his dialog off of what he thinks these people would sound like rather than how people actually talk. What's worse is how every line of dialog is awkward exposition. "WE NEED TO DO THIS BECAUSE ITS THE HUMANE THING TO DO. I KNOW THERE'S A GOOD BONE IN YOUR BODY" Stallone really gift-wrapped every intention he had and left absolutely nothing to the audience. What this does is create characters that you really don't care about and a rather cookie-cutter plot.

Which leads to the next issue with the film. There's really no character development at all nor any real reason why we should give a damn about "Rambo" other than he is the main character. What's worse is the stock characters we also are suppose to feel bad for that were captured. The script is of course equally predictable and mind-numbingly boring but of course its deep because its an action film about the atrocities of war, give me a break.

However its beautifully shot and the action sequences are incredible. The amount of blood and guts is great. However without a good story to supplement the action, it all falls a tad flat. In the end, a decent effort by Sly but hire a real scriptwriter next time.

Real Rating: 6/10

Fan Factor: 7.5/10

Yeah, I had great expectations of brilliant dialogue and wonderful character developement.

Seriously, I went with the expectation of seeing a flick with great action. In that way, the film delivered exactly what I was hoping for. Actually exceeded expectations.

Is this a master piece? No
Was it a great action movie? Yes

I really don't understand why people get so defensive. Just because the movie isn't good, doesn't mean it can't be enjoyable as a guilty pleasure. Now if you think the movie is good then just say it and give reasons, its called "DISCUSSION".

So the movie has a terrible script and cool action sequences, does that make it a good movie? I suppose it depends on the person but please there's no need for condescending remarks. If you like the movie then great, others don't, lets discuss.

So far it seems everyone agrees the script was really bad but the action was cool. Well for most of the mainstream there needs to be a decent enough story to sink your teeth into so that the action scenes mean something. Don't mistake good with depth either. I'd say the script to Bad Boys 2 was far greater than Rambo even if its simple, provides two characters with interesting struggles we care about. Rambo is simply a montage of violence.
