This is probably one of the best movies I've seen this year. Great performance by Stallone. 9/10

Yeah I saw it today... decent flick... would have liked more development here and there. Action was the best I've seen in a LONG time as far as pure guns and gutting/throat slitting.

Watched it on DVD,and think it was a tad better seeing it the second time. Though I'd still like to have a better story, and little more 'action' throughout...Like the 'angry' Rambo thought it was a different look, and should of capitilized on that more..
Also, what the heck was the 'sucide scene' that they talked about from the first Rambo? I don't think I've ever scene or heard about it until I watched this movie??

^Its the original ending of the first movie, were Rambo shoots himself instead of surviving, its closer to the books ending when Trautman shoots Rambo at the end.

Its pure awesomeness.

John is very bitter and angry its great! "WHO ARE YOU!!!? WHO ARE ANY OF YOU!!!"

I wonder if they're still planning that 5th one
I hear in some places yes, in others no. I really want another one, but only if it's different. I dont think there should be anymore Rambo running around the jungle type films

That bit was a fantastic tease for what was to come later in the movie :woot:.

To be honest, though a part would like to see another one, another part wants them to leave it, the ending of Rambo seemed like exactly that for the franchise, an ending, he finally went home, they should leave it at that IMO.

Seen the directors cut Blu-ray is out, anyone have any reviews in comparison to the original cut?

Where did you find it at? I can't seem to find it at any stores around here...Best Buy, Wal-Mart etc.:cmad:

The edited-for-tv- version was on Spike last night. I didn't dare watch it. I couldn't handle a PG-13 Rambo.

How the hell could they do an edited for TV version of that final battle scene? It would last for two seconds.

All I know is its coming out but not seen any reviews or anything for it, I believe its only 8 mins longer so not sure I will bother to be honest.

I have no idea. But I think I may check it out when it comes on again this week. I'm curious to see how much of it is cut down, and if they cgi-ed out all the blood. I've seen that happen a time or two in movies recently. It makes the scene look weird.:csad:

Someone in the recent movie thread did a quick review for it, even said the title card said John Rambo.

Rambo: Extended Cut(Blu Ray) - 9/10

I like this version better than the theatrical cut, it only adds eight minutes of footage which is mostly character stuff. If you don't own Rambo on BR or at all pick the Extended Cut up. And for $15 it not a bad buy. And for you guys wondering if it's worth the double dip I think it is. And the case still says Rambo but the title screen in the opening credits says John Rambo which I think was the original title for the movie.

I watched it on Spike last night, and was suprised that the final battle was uncut.

Sounds good, just not sure i'm going to double dip for 8 mins though, especially when I like the movie as is and have it on BD.

I'll wait and see some more reviews I think.

A lot can happen in 8 minute. Hell, the small amount of footage on The Wolfman directors cut improved it quite a bit. And there was quite a bit more character bits in the deleted scenes, like finding out what happened to his old Rambo III knife.

I loved this movie but haven't seen it since forever. I'll be rewatching all of the Rambos this week, in a straight row (first Rambofest ever for me). I can't wait to see the extended cut, I plan to buy it on Blu-ray eventually, along with the new BD boxed set.

I got my copy at Wal Mart. I want to go back and rewatch it before I do a review, which I'll try to do tonight. And I think the reason the final battle may not have been edited is because it's a realistic depiction of violence and not just violence for the sake of violence. That is also the reason the movie as a whole didn't have to be edited to get an R rating. I think it was in an issue of Soldier of Fortune magazine(Feb. 2008 issue) that had an interview with Sylvester Stallone in it about Rambo. I plan on buying the BR set myself. I think the only knock I have against the BR set is the fact that it just has the cardboard slip case while my dvd set came in a metal tin. And yes the title screen in the opening credits says John Rambo. I wish the cover would have had the JR title but I guess thay went with Rambo: EC to keep from confusing people.

and yet they censored all the swears! I don't get american tv bodies being dismembered by bullets ok, the s or f word goodness no!

All the edited cursing took me out of it somewhat.

Hey man, I don't get the FCC at all. Censorship should not exist for all I care.

 Wolfman had an extra 25 mins, thats a big difference from 8.

Sorry, don't own it yet, borrowed the BR from a friend so I could see the extras

Ah right, was a little confused then! Its the same with Avatar for me though, I love the movie, but doubt i'll bother to double if 8 mins extra is all we are getting.

Rewatched this in a marathon with the other Rambo films earlier today. I love them all so much I hate picking a favorite, but this just might be my favorite of them all.
