RAMI "CONFIRMS" Sandman as....

Coincedence written off with the same suspension of disbeleif that allows a boy to get spider powers by being bitten.

Not always... when someone like a psychic believes somethign there are rules. When a religion believes something there are definite nonsense and plausible aspects. Depending on the approach of the creators this would indeed be peculiar even if yes, Parker got super powers.

There is a style where endless misuse of "the coincidence" becomes an issue.

It's possible that the audience might be led to believe that peter's hallucinations are real, but then later on we find out that they are not. that way we, the audience gets taken for the same ride peter gets taken for.

Maybe in some way the Symbiote is leading Peter to believe Sandman is the killer. Peter Hallucinates and is mentally manipulated by the symbiote.

It's a possibility.

But even if Sandman killed Uncle Ben, that wouldnt be so bad. Most likely Sandman will die in this movie anyways.

Most villains do.

I really like this idea, the more I think about it. I just wish I never saw this thread now--dammit.

I'm not liking the idea of this. It's becoming way too cliché nowadays. Villain kills hero's parents. Ten years later. Hero finds out about it. Hero gets angry. Hero goes to fight the villain. Hero realizes that revenge is not the way. Villain dies, anyway.

raimi did say that the only villain who is a new addition to peter's life in the films is eddie but that's ok since peter can meet new people...interesting

Was Sandman being involved in Ben's murder mentioned in the QA? If not, I think it is a dream. Here's my reason. Why would they film the scene in the first place? If not a dream, then it has to be a flashback. Why would Sandman have a flashback of that? If a flashback he must be telling someone the story. Who? How does Peter make the connection?
Then again, if it was in the QA it must be true.

Yeah it was.

I am really confused about this whole thing. I can see it from the point of view of the symbiote messing with Peter's head to push him over the edge. I CAN NOT see this as a part of his real life.

Recap from SM1:

1 guy comes out of the office having robbed the guy who didn't pay Peter. Peter steps aside and lets him go out of spite. Goes outside and Uncle Ben has been shot and his car stolen. He gets mad, chases the guy down and finds it was the same guy that he let go. Guilt sets in, hence "With great power comes great responsibility."

Now...How would this work with Sandman being the real killer? As an accomplice he waited outside, robber comes out, Sandy kills the first random person in the area (just happens to be Uncle Ben), tosses the keys to the robber and goes on his merry way? That makes no sense whatsoever, other than "we've run out of ideas for Spidey to fight folks, so lets just do this."

I think its a load of crap. Also, anything written in [...] is implied. Raimi never said that it was Sandman, some just assumed thats who he is talking about.

i don't know if anyone has said this yet but Wireimage.com had a pic of Uncle Ben the carjacker from the first movie and Sandman. Don't know the link.

I really don't see the problem with it, and the general audience will probably eat it up. It's a good move for the cinematic front. Audiences love it when connections are made. People somehow feel smarter for realizing things like that.

Heh. I love the irony.
