This is from the Q and A on Grant Curtis' blog.

Thanks again Mr. Curtis. I have another question. I don't know how much detail you can give away, but, Does Sandman actually have something to do with Uncle Ben's death or does the symbiote just mess with Peter's mind and make him hallucinate it? My guess is the former but there's been some debate about it.

I cannot answer that question outright. What did you think of the trailer? Grant

I'm not TOO bothered either way at the moment, but what do you guys think about this??

Whoa, that's different than I thought. Thanks for posting this! Now I haven't lost ALL hope, there's still some hope that it's all in his head :woot:

It means nothing. He just practically said no comment. How would you respond in a situation where you could get fined for giving away a spoiler in the plot?

Actualy, the spoiler is already out in the trailers, if he confirmed the guy's theory then he would be fired, if he said no and kept it with it being real if it isnt, he would be called a liar later on. I think its the cause of the symbiote.

Well seeing as James Franco was afraid to say anything about the movie, I believe that's not the case.

I will 100% guarentee that Sandman is not Uncle Ben's killer. Raimi respects the legacy of Spider-Man way too much. He might tweek some of the characters and history, but he would never screw with the entire foundation of Peter becoming Spider-Man.

He let the crook go that killed Ben. He became Spider-Man out of guilt. It's the entire origin of the crimefighter part of Spidey's identity. Either Sandman was the wheel man or it's the symbiote's influence, but Sandman did not kill Uncle Ben.

grant probably just didnt want to answer the the question, nothing bad about that.

I knew he wasn't going to answer that question, it was silly to ask him. Plus, that question has already been answered by the Summary/Q & A.

This doesn't really tell us anything.

I brought this up in another thread.....I have no idea what it means

If the Uncle Ben being killed by Sandman was the symbiote messing with his brain, then their visit to the police station was a hallucination, and also Pete's talk with Aunt May about revenge was a pipe dream too. That's too much for it to be happening to his brain, since this is S-M3, not Fight Club...

But still, it is possible that Sandman didn't kill Uncle Ben, that he was just framed or something...

what if the police is just thinking wrong?when peter finds that out he becomes angry and obssesed. than when he gets teh ssymbiote he can have a dream how sandman killed hes uncle. this would also explain why sandman has the same shirt on(peter did have a fight with him already and knows sandman only with the green shirt).
just a theory. and in the end peter would be angry on sandman just like harry in angry on peter. and both of them are wrong.

could happen :oldrazz::woot:

Exactly. I've been mentioning that on other threads as well. The hallucination theory should just die, its been proven wrong.

Even if that was true, it would still mean that the whole Sandman killed Uncle Ben sub-plot wasn't just something made up by the symbiote like some people on here are thinking.

I was bored alright. Don't give me s**t.

cuz it smells. please don't give me it. :cmad:

I'm still defending Raimi on this...its not like him to butcher the story.

I mean, most people keep saying that Pete would still have learned his lesson regardless of who killed Uncle Ben, but to me, thats just an origin that shouldn't be messed with.

I have faith in Raimi.

Even if the film does fall short (which I hope it doesn't)

I will point the finger at Hollywood for bastardising it. :cmad:

Well, we can't be too sure until the release date, man.

Hey now, I still have hope for this.
