Reeve's Bumbling Clark puts me off.
Cavill's just got the right amount of mild manneredness, humility, and anonymity as Clark especially the one at the end.

Cavill's too serious always frowning Supes is not as great to me as Clark's warm but manly and authoritative Superman.

Reeve's Bumbling Clark puts me off.

Isn't that how it supposed to be?

I could be wrong, not sure what the creators vision of Clark really is. Just thought that Clark is always intentionally more bumbling to disguising his ID

I am guessing I will still rank Superman 2 the best with STM obviously 2nd. I did like SR so we'll see if MOS can place 3rd..

wow. this is hard for me. i'm a 100% reeve fan.
i gotta watch MOS a 2nd time to do this...

I can't vote it's unfair. STM and MOS are the best for their respective gens.

I don't know, I don't like Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor much to like Superman I

Smallville and Superman Returns had BETTER Lex Luthors!

No it's not supposed to be like that. Donner Clark made it too goofy and OTT.

The only comics I can think of that also had the OTT bumbling and goofy Clark is All Star Superman and John's last Superman run (his Up up and Away had a much better Clark portrayal).

Clark should be mild-mannered and humble, but never should he be too goofy and bumbling. IMO of course.

Superman I: 8.5/10
Superman II: 10/10
Superman III: 4/10
Superman IV: 3/10
Superman Returns: 6/10
Man of Steel: TBD, I'm watching on Sunday

Reeve's Superman and Clark Kent: 10/10
- With Christopher Reeve at the helm and prime of his career, you'll definitely believe a man can fly. He had the perfect charm and earnestness to be sold as the 80's Superman, and the bumbling but astute Clark Kent. He was the perfect embodiment of the campy but adorable Superman and Clark Kent. He is to Superman, what RDJ is to Tony Stark/Iron Man.
Routh's Superman and Clark Kent: 5/10
- Severely underwhelming, and the fact that Bryan Singer made this a homage to Donner makes it harder for him to live up as the current era's Superman. A crappy situation if you will. I also didn't like how stiff he was and overall I was never sold on the feelings he expressed, especially when Luthor stabs him with the Krypto-nife. I mean he didn't really look like he was in pain...The writing for this character was also atrocious, and goes against what we've come to know as an ideal Superman, comics AND cinematics.
Cavill's Superman and Clark Kent: TBD
Let's see what he has to offer!

The way I understand it, is Clark Kent trying to act completely different than Superman (Superman: Very Serious, Clark Kent:Very Goofy), so even if he puts on glasses. NO one will recognize him as Superman, even if they see a resemblance they will think it's completely stupid because these two person have complete OPPOSITE personalities.

In Man of Steel, Clark and Superman are hardly distinguishable, they seem just like the same person!

I said Man of Steel , but your right it's not entirely fair to compare the two. Reeve was a great Superman for his time. Cavill did great job in this one.

Man Of Steel
Superman II (theatrical)
Superman The Movie
Superman III
Superman IV The Quest For Peace
Superman Returns (yep SIV is better than this dragging mess)

Man of Steel
Superman:The movie
Superman II

Only three worth mentioning

This is kind of not fair because Superman The Movie paved the way. Superhero films are a normal thing now. The 70's were before many of the current fans were born, and some of the Luthor and Otis stuff seems camp now a days.

As a modern fan, with all my respect towards Reeve... Cavill really won me over. He is the definitive live action Superman for me.

THIS! It'd be like comparing a silent adventure film to something like ROTLA. Besides MOS still has that "new movie" effect, so it will be time until opinions simmer.

.....I cant rank them lol....well I can say Superman 3 & 4 are close to the bottom, but adding Man Of Steel to it.....I'll see it again and then rank it :p

You know....superman 3 and 4 were so bad that they're entertaining to watch. MOS was just depressingly bad.

Superman I
Superman II
Man of Steel/Superman Returns

Superman IV
Superman III
