I always thought Sly would work better as an animated series, specially if they want to highlight the mutlitple locations and villains with different heists.

Either way, I'm excited for this one.

I do wonder what avenues this could open up if it is indeed successful. I agree with GSR that Sly is more suited to a TV series than a film. LBP is something that would fit that too. Perhaps they'd fast track their oft-rumored Uncharted/Shadow of the Colossus adaptions if it worked out.

Can someone explain Ratchet and Clank to me a little bit? Specifically the gameplay. I often see it referred to as a platformer, which is what draws me to the series. However, whenever I watch a trailer, or even play a demo, it just seems like a not very good third person shooter, which turns me away from it.

The platforming is definitely toned down in most Ratchet games. Only Quest for Booty has a focus on it. It's really all just about experimenting with the different weapons and having fun with them.

Very excited about this, I love the Ratchet and Clank games. It would be awesome to have this lead into more quality animated video game based films. I'd love to see a really good CG Uncharted film over a live-action version.

I love the game series...but the last two releases haven't really been for me...more MP focused and less story focused. I'm sure that's great for some though!

Yeah, I am really curious on why their quality seems to be dropping lately. I want to say it might have something to do with them trying to go multiplatform...

I mean, the last Ratchet and Clank wasn't a BAD thing...they were just experimenting with something different and hey, some people loved it.

I DO think going multiplatform (like with FUSE) can created more pressure on a studio.

RATCHET AND CLANK, two unlikely heroes, must stop a vile alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy. This movie is more or less my childhood's dream. However, I am a bit confused about where they're going to go with it. I was thinking the movie was going to go back to the roots of the series, tell the story of how Ratchet and Clank met, and share their first adventure again. However, I can't really tell if the story is getting switched or they're picking up immediately where the series was at in the video games. I'm a little hesitant to get my hopes up, but I'm going to watch this movie regardless.

Europe gets it a week after North America.

Ratchet & Clank will launch for PlayStation 4 on April 15 in France and April 20 across Europe, Sony Computer Entertainment announced.



A North American release date of April 12 was announced at PlayStation Experience in San Francisco last month.




Ratchet & Clank is a re-imagining of the PS2 original and “much more,” featuring “modern controls, new planets, new and improved gameplay, all-new boss fights, and an updated arsenal.”

Re-imagining due out next month.

Insomniac Games has released three new gameplay videos and four new screenshots of its upcoming Ratchet & Clank re-imagining for PlayStation 4.
Additionally, a number of outlets went live with new previews today, including Game Informer, Game Reactor, GameSpot, IGN, Kinda Funny Games, PlayStation Access, Polygon, and The Verge.
Ratchet & Clank is a re-imagining of the PS2 original and “much more,” featuring “modern controls, new planets, new and improved gameplay, all-new boss fights, and an updated arsenal.” It is due out for PlayStation 4 on April 12 in North America and April 20 in Europe.
