Does anyone know if Andrew Garfield can even see out of those big white eyes? They don't seem very practical lol

Ah...

Hoping for the fat 'tick looking' spider on the back, but many dislike that look it seems....

As much as I like the classic outfit in the comics, the fat spider actually makes little sense. It looks more like a tick.

It's one of the improvements I thought the Raimi costume did.

I saw real spiders looking like that blot on the back we're used to see
Ticks look more like cockroaches with 8 limbs than a round blot

Okay now you guys are making the hair at the back of my neck stand. Must get that image out of my head...

WELL THATS NOT THE FINISHED PRODUCT!!! OR IS IT?? according to you it may or may not be depending on what you are trying to prove. :lmao:

I'm not the one whining about it either, cupcake.

I do hope that the costume doesn't look that cheap in the film.

I'm sure it wont. Just the set pics don't flatter it.

Yeah paparazzi photo are obviously unflattering. Same goes with Shailene as MJ. I feel your concern though haha.

Aye (though I have no concern with Shailene though. Just if she can act the part)

:D

Suit looks awesome in that first pic to me, I see no signs of it looking cheap.

Anywho, to the people that actually knows better...

would you have wanted the fabric to be the same as TAS-M's first suit if you don't like the change, or would you have chosen even a different kind of fabric?

All I wanted was the same suit, just updated maybe with the "web pattern" more web looking and the belt, along with the shoes minus the silver this time. Thats all I would have wanted.

It doesn't really matter to me, the suit is all about the "iconography" of Spider-Man, and it clearly nails that.
I don't watch these movies for Spider-Man, I watch them for Peter.
As long as it looks like Spider-Man, then all's good, the least of my worries is the type of fabric the suit is made up of, or the minor details such as raised webbing (which probably won't even be that noticible on screen), my worries lie in the actual quality of the movie itself. If the movie is good, I'll be sucked into it, so why WOULD, or better yet SHOULD, I feel the need to eyeball the similarties between this suit and Raimi's? Personally there's enough differences in it to not give me deja vu.

I liked the other fabric. It looked brighter, shinier, sturdier... simply cooler. This new one (actually old one) is all right, but it doesn't make sense to have Peter reverting from an edgy, modern material to a more classic, old-fashioned one. He'll probably have people all over NY thinking "Well, I guess he decided to go retro".

i think the manips on here with the honeycomb pattern look as good as the suit we do have, plus they have the added bonus of appearing like an evolution of the first movie's suit, as opposed to a completely new one.

When the character behind the suit is interesting, I'm 100% with you on that one, but the suit really matters on some level as well, and it doesn't even have to hit that note of looking like the iconic hero we see in a comic. Plus, the question is really about if you don't like the unnecessary change of taking an aspect from Raimi's series. You didn't see Nolan having to do that with Batman, or Vaughn with X-Men.

But when you're watching the actual movie, there's no telling how different the suit will look. All aspects of the new suit could blend together seemlessly and not make you think of Raimi's. And even if it does, at worst it'll give me a sense of nostalgia, which is definitley not a bad thing considering this movie is TASM2, and my favorite CBM is SM2. It might work out bad in reviews though, especially ones biased against the new franchise. All they would have to do to give the film a negative review is to state something along the lines of: "This movie, this franchise, is so uncreative that the crew felt the need to reuse the same costume from the last Spider-Man movie franchise", even if the movie is really good, just to knock the RT rating down. lol

Something no one seems to consider is that the costume change could very well have been handed down by Sony. Webb's a good director but I seriously doubt he has enough clout to resist studio interference. That's what I find so bothersome about labeling the actual production people unoriginal or uncreative.

He could be "cleaning up and mainstreaming" himself a bit.
When you look at his last Spider-Man suit, it doesn't really give off a "Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" vibe, it gives off more of a "I'm gonna pin you against the wall in a dark alley and start smelling the Head and Shoulders in your hair, then immediately knee you in the nuts and teabag you" type vibe.
Plus, this movie probably takes place a few months after TASM, so he would have had more time to redesign a suit and be less "sparadic" with it, make it a bit more professional, and really invest in it since this whole superhero thing is taking off for him.

i think the new eyes alone do wonders for a friendly neighborhood spider-man visage.

can't wait to see him (hopefully) kicking butt in the new suit. it will look like he's a hero first and vigilante second.
